The San Antonio Spurs Will Be Amazing
Next up now is a team that I’m just going to go and tell you right now I’m going to be higher on than most people out there is the San Antonio Spurs. I’m just going to go and ruin the surprise. I have them at fifth in the conference, which doesn’t sound that high, but when you consider the other teams ahead of them and behind them, that actually is pretty optimistic for a team that we haven’t really seen at that high of a level yet. Starting fivewise, I went with Darren Fox, Steph Castle, Deon Mel, Harrison Barnes, and Victor Womenyama. And then off the bench that gives you Dylan Harper, Luke Cornet, Carter Bryant, Jeremy Sohan and Kell Johnson. Obviously the big story going into the year or the two big stories going into the year are one WebM’s health. He seems to be fully clear to the medical issue. Hopefully that’s the case so we can see how unbelievable this guy is going to be this year and then of course the rookie Dylan Harper who’s going to be coming off the bench in this scenario. How good is he right away? Does he like force himself into the starting lineup? they go into a scenario where we’re running like four perimeter guys around Wemby and it’s Fox and Harper and Castle and Vel around Wemby because Harper just has to be out there and start or is take a little bit more of a backst step and it’s, you know, Fox and Castle in the back court. Overall, I think my prediction of them being fifth in the conference just has everything to do with like I I’m not trying to be hyperbolic, but if Victor Wmanyama is healthy, he could be the best non Nicole Joic player in the entire league this year. I think that is a realistic ceiling for how much of an overall impact he can have. I think it could be a top two, top three MVP finish guy this season. And if that happens and he’s healthy, they’re going to be one of the best teams in the West. They just are just because he’s that good. Fox and him build some kind of connection. The big question here, and I’m sure there are Spurs fans yelling at the video right now, is coaching. The guy that replaced Greg Papovich as coach. I I would say Spurs fans are not um not thrilled with him so far. And I mean, he’s a young coach. He’s a first time coach. He’s going to get it figured out, I hope. But that could be the thing that holds back the team. And then we go to next year and like, okay, this is the real takeoff year for the Spurs. They added someone else in the offseason. They’ve got a new coach and now they’re going to take off. I’m going to get a little bit ahead of that curve and I’m going to say that that is going to be the Spurs this year and that I’m not overly worried about the coaching situation, but I’m sure there are Spurs fans out there that are concerned. But like I said, I got them finishing at fifth in the conference.
With the 2025-26 NBA season right around the corner, here is my take on the San Antonio Spurs. Where do you think they finish in the West this year?

I'm very fond of vassell. However I think they should try to upgrade their roster and move on from Johnson
I don't see them being 5th this season. Now, if they make a trade at the deadline to get that third guy that brings them up to a finals contender, absolutely they could. I just see them right now as a Play-In team. This isn't to say that Wemby isn't great or that he couldn't be an MVP caliber guy. I just think that if the Spurs want to be that finals possible team, they have to trade Harrison Barnes and a couple of others to get that guy back who raises the bar for them. Barnes+Sochan should be enough to get something really good back. Right now, I am just not that high on them.
Vassell should come of the bench.
I don’t believe in this team at all. They been saying spurs are going to be good for a third straight year. I guarantee this team won’t make the playoffs again.
I just wanna see more of that Wemby/Kornet duo. And if Fox is hurt to start the season, Harper should be starting pg.
Na Mitch will be fine. Pop picked him as his successor. The team loves him. I trust their judgement. We’ve seen some glimmers of what Mitch wants this team to be and I’m all in.
Spurs gonna be a top 4 team if somewhat healthy. Wemby is a top 5 player. They have young pieces that could develop.
Houston not gonna be a 2 seed bud kd is great but he's never went to a mediocre team and they got way better. I don't think that's gonna happen now at 36-37 years old, I love him but facts are facts. they be a 5-6 seed maybe be scary in playoffs
The spacing is still a major problem. They need to still trade for a high level floor spacer and I can tell you right now that Harper is going to take a lot of time before he contributes to winning.
People are overlooking how much of an upgrade Kornet is over Zach Collins. The Spurs used to bleed profusely during the non-Wemby minutes. Now they're WINNING those minutes
💯
I would like to put schon over barnes add a little more defense than Dillonham and barnes with with the second unit with Carter Bryant
