With that, I say hello to Mr. Ian Reed. Uh, dude, what a crazy game. Yeah. Um, I mean, we had a lot of I had a lot of questions about what this Barracuda team would look like this year, obviously. Um, lot of veterans moving out. Uh, you knew the goalending was going to be interesting, obviously with Goss Love Ascarov going to be, uh, on the bear on the Sharks rather full-time this year. Um, so you knew that anything that they did in goal was going to be a downgrade. Um, but you know, there’s going to be a lot of there’s a lot of kids down there. I mean, we’re going to talk about some of them tonight, obviously. And you look at, you know, and I think the defense is a is a decent group. Um, a few new faces there as well, though. Um, a young Barracuda team this year again, right? I think that’s the that’s the big thing this year is it’s it’s another it’s another young Barracuda team, which I feel like we say every year at this point. I’m going to fix my camera here a little bit. Um, but yeah, I mean, uh, I don’t know how many track meets that this team is going to win. If this is the uh if this is what’s going to have to happen, if they’re just going to have to win every game by scoring seven goals, I don’t know how that’s going to work out for them. But I think, you know what, for uh it was it was fun. It it was fun. They hung in there. Uh, you know, it it’s just crazy to see, especially how this thing got going. Jacob Scar got the start for the Cuda in this one. And 39 seconds in, former Cuda Rem Pitlick uh goes in and you’re like thinking, “Oh crap, here we go. Here we go.” Yeah. And little did we know what would happen later on. Uh you you again get goals from Beast, from Camel, who had a great game. Uh Zack Oopek. Hey, the guy can can tip things. That’s good. Uh, the Cuda would be up 2-1 and then, you know, Bakersfield come back with a pair of goals, Griffith, and then what, like 20 seconds later, Riley Stillman there. But, uh, I really like the 3-3 goal from Patrick Giles. I thought that was a great play with the extra effort to get the stick lift and then to score. I I I love that extra effort. I know uh the coaching staffs for both teams are are Let me let me just give a quick rundown of the scoring summary here just because like I have to scroll like on I’m on ahl.com right now and I have to scroll to get to the bottom because I can see the first and the second period on one screen and to get to the third period scores I actually have to scroll. Got like a tiny font or something going on if you I mean I guess I could make it smaller, you know. Look at I’ve got these giant glasses on now. It’s it’s it’s hard getting old. Um yeah, I mean like you said, right, Ram Piglet opens the scoring at 39 seconds into the game. Uh 7:15 into the game, Philip Beaststead ties it up with an assist from Camelon and Igor Shernese. Uh Zachos Stopchuk uh gets a goal at 11:43 of the first period. Uh that is assisted by Jake Furlong and Ethan Cardwell. Uh Seth Griffith, yeah, Seth Griffith of the Bakersfield Condors responds at 1447 uh with an assist from Max Jones and Volami. Volami Mar Marala. Yes. Okay. I don’t know if is the J silent or Marhala, you know. Yeah. I don’t know. AJ going holla. Well, at 1506 of the first period, uh, Riley Stillman responds also for the Bakersfield Condors from Ren Pitlick and Ruby Jervante. Uh, Patrick Giles from Jimmy Huntington at 1947 in the last minute of the first period. That uh, that basically made it 3-3 at the end of the first period. Deep breath in. The second period hits Quinton. Oh my god, Quinton Musty. This goal from Cam Long and Eager Eager Shernese who are both getting their second assists of the night. Um, this one’s good. I’m going to have to go find it in my thing and see if I can upload and show it because I think it’s it is just pretty. Uh, that was on the power play at 7:16 of the second period. Luka Kegnoni scores his first of the season from Cam London. Uh Jimmy Huntington, uh newcomer coming in from the I can’t remember where he came from off the top of my head, but he’s he’s he’s new this season. Uh nice nice veteran guy to come in here from Patrick Guile. This another really nice goal. Just off the face off kind of got open and then put the puck in the net. Just from Hershey. Yes. Max Jones uh responded for the Condors because uh just when you thought like the Bakers that the Bear were going to run away with this. Max Jones from Luke Bro and uh Josh Zamansski. And then at 1811, uh Roberty Jovante from Rem Pitlick, his second assist of the night. Um and then Ethan Cardwell in the third period. Um made it 76 on the power play. Matias Havl and Philip Beaststead both assisting on that. And then Rhett Pitlick uh would score again, but it would not be a it would not be enough. Uh, and the San Jose Barracuda, hold on. Win seven to six. That that’s just I mean I’ve I don’t think I’ve seen a track meet that much for the Cuda ever uh to go back and forth, but you look at everybody, you know, Chernishov. Yeah, he got flatfooted on that last Rhett Picklet goal. Yeah. I look and I think I think in that situation too, right? Like and this is where you have to kind of remember that like some these guys are kids. Um, and they’re gonna they’re going to learn some hard lessons here. And I think that was a that was a hard but a good lesson for for your shernes, right? I think when you’re a guy like Shernv, a guy the size of Shernv, you can stand on a blue line in the Ontario Hockey League and then just try and crush the poor little kid that tries to go past you on the blue line. Uh, in the AHL and especially the NHL, that doesn’t work. Like you got to be moving your feet. Um, he should have been in that situation. Obviously, you’d want to see him back, you know, back skating a little bit and, you know, that way, but he didn’t. He just kind of stood down the line and the puck just went right around him. And again, I think not to take away from the game he had because I thought he was fantastic. He played great. He was fantastic. That was just a kind of a a learning situation for him. But yeah, I mean, this is this is what you’re going to see on this Barracuda team, right? It’s a very young Barracuda team. You’re going to see a lot of guys that are going to are going to learn the hard way in some cases, especially on this goal that when you are playing pro hockey, the stuff that you got away with in junior or the lesser leagues, isn’t going to fly here. Nope. Nope. And and it’s a nice lesson to learn in the AHL. Yeah. And it’s it’s great. It’s nice to have it and teachable lessons here. I think that’s right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Big time with it with all this because Yeah. You take the good, you take the bad, therefore you have the facts of life. But you know true, but the honestly I mean he had a pair of assists. Cam Lynn, which if I’m not mistaken, Nick Nolenberger said on the broadcast his first AHL game. Yeah, because because he was signed because of when he was signed last year, he could only play on the Sharks. He couldn’t go to the Barracuda at all. You’re Oh, that’s right. My my mistake on that. I I was like wondering what So this is his first age. Yeah, because of when he was signed, he had to play on the Sharks after he signed his contract. Um, this year he was eligible to go to the AHL, which is um not really surprised to see him down there now. I think I think he showed well and I think again, Cam Lyn’s a guy that I really like a lot and I think he’s going to I think he’s going to be really really good and I think he’s going to be one of the the leaders of this Barracuda team offensively anyway. Definitely looking forward to that. Three assists. Uh, I mean, and everybody was in in on the scoring. I I don’t see anybody. I think he had it was spread out. Stop Hardwell. Come on, buddy. Uh, Giles, uh, Luca Canyone. I mean, the guy who I he led all defenseman or if not players with 11 power play goals. He gets a he gets a power play goal uh today. I thought he looked really really good on this one. you know, of course, Beast at Huntington and Musty. Nice to see Musty get a goal and assist uh getting his first points uh in the AHL. So, love to see that all around. Um and in a seven six game, don’t look at the plus or minus. I mean, let’s be honest here. Yeah, it’s going to be you’re going to be like minus. No, but I mean, it’s it’s one of those ones where it’s like you kind of have to throw that one out the door a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. I like look at I mean this was fun, right? But I obviously like you know like I kind of said off the top if if you want to get likes serious I don’t know how many games the barracuda can expect to win like this. Yeah. But it’s you know when it was an entertaining game. Um I don’t know. I mean like I I think like again I I I think this Barracuda team is going to be so much fun this year. Are they going to be fun good? I don’t know. And this this game didn’t give me any inclination whether they’re going to be fun good. I mean, they can obviously score it, but they’re gonna have to defend at some point. Um, I didn’t really understand the acquisition of Jacob Scar when it happened other than the fact that he does have a bunch of AHL games under his belt. So, he’s more of a veteran guy, but nothing in his history suggests that like he’s going to like again going from Ascarov to anybody was is a no-win for the goalending on this team, right? because Darl Ascarov is Ascarov and then the rest of these guys are are guys. Um, and that’s just, you know, and that’s just a sad situ like that’s just it. Like it’s it’s not really fair to the goalending to be like, well, you know, just be Askarov. Well, they’re not. They’re never going to be Askarov. Um, so I don’t know. Like I I I don’t want to just bury the guy after one game. Let’s let’s get some more games under his belt. Scarrick to to his I don’t know to his credit but I guess in his defense like the that he came from Bridgeport they were the worst team in the AHL last year. Um and so you always wonder like how much are the numbers going to be affected by just being on a bad team versus is this a bad goalie. Um I I don’t know yet. I don’t like again I’m not I’m not going to bury anybody day one but um I wasn’t really enthused when we got him and I don’t think look it I don’t think the Bearcat were defensively fantastic in front of him like this was a this was a barn burner of a game but defense was not on the menu for for either side really let’s be honest um so I’ll you know we’ll see what he does we’ll see what he can do going forward I expect Gabe Kerry is probably going to get the next start I would assume and then kind of go from there um you you know, and Gabe Kerry, I thought had a had a decent season for the Barracuda last year. Very uneven, but uh he definitely had his moments. I thought he outplayed Gurammanov. So, uh and that’s why he’s still here. Um it’s crazy. I’m sorry. Just reading the chat here quick. I’m I’m looking at it here. Casey Lander saying, “Can’t watch any AHL games unless they’re on NBC Sports Bay Area.” Uh and then Bara’s uh I guess nearby you. Uh here in Ontario, you can watch AHL games on some betting apps. That’s fantastic. I um I mean good to know flow hockey is definitely an option. I understand that that now that the now that it’s like on flow hockey and not like cuz the man like used to pay like 60 bucks US and I used to watch just the Barracuda games and that was totally fine with me because I’m I’m not a guy who’s going to pretend that I’m gonna sit here and watch a bunch of AHL games. Like there’s just a ton of things to watch. Um, obviously like the extra value proposition with uh flow hockey now is that you do get like two junior leagues on top of that now. So if you’re looking to watch like some if you want to watch like Hoshi Wang uh or Christian Kersh or you know uh any of those guys that are currently playing in either the Q or the O. And I’m just listing off guys in the O obviously because that’s what I know. Um you know they’re they’re on full hockey now so you can watch those games. Uh you can watch those games as well as the Barracuda. So, um I know it’s not a cheap ticket, especially if you’re shelling out for uh for my Canadian friends. Uh if you’re shelling out for Sportsnet this year, uh I adding another adding another 200 bucks on top of that. Not fun. Um yikes. And they have And they don’t have any of the leagues now, correct? Which what? Uh the OHL the queue in the in the Western, right? Um they still have the national game like I think Sports Net Sports Net or TSN one of them has the national they have a national game every week. Okay. Um and then they’ll have like playoffs and whatever. I can’t remember which I don’t remember where they are. It’s it’s on one of the two. I don’t have cable so I just whatever I can stream. Yes, absolutely. But yeah, a a crazy game. Uh, good on good on them for I I guess more than anything staying with it because we’ve seen this team when it’s gone down three to two early on. They’ve just put their heads down and just like h gosh. Oh yeah. Like they could just roll like Yeah. We’ve seen this Barracuda team roll over from less last year. Yeah. Uh and they didn’t this year, you know, and to their credit they didn’t. I think it’s it’s good though, right? I think the Barracuda again, you know, the benefit of being one of the youngest teams is you got a lot of top prospects on this team now, right? You got a lot of guys trying to show that they deserve the first call because look at eventually someone’s going to get hurt. That’s just the nature of hockey. Sure. Someone’s going to get called up and you know, I think, you know, you got a lot of these guys that want it to be them. you got to, you know, so if you’re a Cam Lond or a Quinton Musty or an Igor Shernese or a Luca Kegnoni, like you’re going to want to show that you want to be one of the guys. And I think, you know, again, like first night watching a lot of the the young guys that are going to make up the offense and and like again, you know, going back to the team last year to this year, like a lot of the guys that carried the offensive load last year, they’re all gone. Yeah. Thomas Bordo’s gone. Daniel Lucian is gone. Porterski is gone. Like it’s it’s on these guys now to to make up for that offense that is gone. Yeah. So it’s depending on Musty, Haltonin, you know, Beast, Kenyon, you know, Chernaf, etc., etc. You know, and again, I’m just I I was just listing names. I mean, you’re right. The list goes on. Beastade, Cardwell, like the the list goes on. So, it’s gonna it’s going to be fun to watch these guys. Uh looking forward to it again. I’m with you. You can’t get into these crazy shootouts. Entertaining to say the least, but uh yeah, not great down the long road, so we’ll see how it goes. Oh, what we got? Kiton asking, “Are the barracuda smaller overall in defense this year physically?” I haven’t really looked at like their sizes. They definitely looked it though, didn’t they? I I’d have to go and like double check and see, but I feel like that might be the case. I think, you know, again, and as like, you know, the Sharks started with three with two guys on IR that are going to that might get sent down so they could get bigger. I think getting Lucas Carlson back down to the the Barracuda once he is healthy and provided he clears waiverss, I think that’ll be a nice shot in the arm for this defense group. And then, you know, and then there’s Jack Thompson. Whether whether he goes down or not, um I don’t know. That’s Jack Thompson’s fascinating to me because I I think the Sharks like him. Yeah. I I like I do think the Sharks really like him and you’d never and I you know and you never really want to just like risk losing a a young right shot defenseman for nothing. But would they send Dear down and risk losing big hard shot hitting guy for nothing? I mean that’s what I would do. But I I am not the uh I am not Samy Shark, so I don’t know what they’re going to do. So, but if it if they can get but if they get Lucas Carlson and Jack Thompson on this team, just say, let’s for example, like that that those two guys get sent down, I mean, that’s going to bolster this defense group significantly, right? And again, it’s it’s it’s going to be a lot of excitement, but it’s also but it’s also like I don’t want to, you know, say they’re going to get those two guys back and then they’re called the Cup champions, but you know, it’s going to be interesting to see how these guys manage, especially as the season drags on because a lot of these guys are getting their first taste of pro hockey. So, I’m I’m fascinated to see what this team looks like as it drags on. I I again I don’t think tonight is going to be indicative of what we’re going to see, but they it does show the firepower that this team has uh has on tap. So, it’s exciting. It’s very exciting. Well, but we’ll see how how long it lasts. Indeed. So, that’s it. Cuda wins 76 over the Bakersfield Condors. Their next game is not until next week against the Bakersfield Condors. I mean, yes, that’s how the show works. They they apparently play in a two team league apparently. Yes. It’s just them with the Condors. That’s the whole division. That’s all they’ve seen so far. So, uh looking forward to that. All right. In Milwaukee after that. Yeah. Something completely different. Yeah. Yeah. I think in Milwaukee hasn’t been out here in like forever. So, uh and they go to Milwaukee this year as well if I’m not mistaken from what Mr. Nolenberger said. So, all right. Anything else to add, my friend? No, I don’t think so. I mean, we didn’t want to go too too long on this. Obviously, the Sharks game is uh quickly approaching and we we will do obviously we’ll be back on after that. Absolutely. Uh so, thanks for watching. Uh and if you want to miss if you want to see this again, check us out on tealtownusa.com or your favorite podcast if you want to see um I mean te the Tealtown account did have all the goals. So, if you want if you’re I I was going to try and upload some goals just to show them off, but if you didn’t see them and you are an X, then go and Twitter, whatever the you want to call it, go uh you can see them there. I also Yep. did it a lot less professionally than we do it on the Teletown account. I don’t like hashtag or nothing. I’m just like, I’m having fun. I’m not having fun. This is okay. My feelings are a yo-yo. I I you know, not going to lie, I I went through my timeline a little bit later. was like, “Oh, Ian’s Ian’s gifing and he’s not having fun.” Okay, he’s having f Oh, no. Okay. All right. Now, it’s better. All right. Great. It’s like our graphic in the background. It’s like a roller coaster ride through the waves. All right. Well, thanks for watching. We will be back with you tonight. Uh, following Sharks and Ducks here. Until then, have a great night, everyone. We’ll see you then. Oh that’s me. [Music] God damn it. It was me. [Music]
