State of the Sharks: Plattner
Hasso Platner first became part of the Sharks ownership group in 2002, took over as majority owner in 2010, and became the team’s representative on the NHL’s board of governors in 2013. Over all those years and decades, we’ve seen his dedication and passion and generosity shine through in actions, but we rarely get to hear his thoughts and perspectives through words firsthand, which made opening night a pretty special occasion. As Mr. Platner met with some local media members. We wanted to share some of the most interesting portions of what he had to say. The hockey team is a difficult body that they work together and they don’t play for show. Therefore, I’m so happy about Celebrity how how he he can do everything but he does everything possible for his uh for the other players for his partners on the ice. I think you see this and you report this and uh he is a he is a leader. San Jose is now more attractive when they look at the pictures of our youngsters and the writeups you guys do or the the other hockey riders. That’s a pretty good uh team and I I believe Misa will be good. Um and uh the defenseman he is he was so good that I actually was upset when he wasn’t listed for today. But there’s a reason for that and I accepted that and in the end the coach has to say remember the days when after a great parade uh the fans were shouting nabi nabi nabi that was exciting. Uh I hope that they find some some players they can relate to. uh our six youngsters, they will all uh play well. Look how Eklund improved last year, how Smitty came came up in the second half of the of the year. So, I’m I I’m pretty sure that we have a good team, including the coaches and management to have this at least the ability and the will to have a good show to play good hockey. So that is uh I think this is a given whether that is enough. This is a tough league. This is a good place. New leadership in the city is uh very much supportive. I hope it stays that we have to do our part and play good hockey. uh they have great ideas what they want to do since Google is a little bit on a back burner. Uh if people are not coming to the office anymore, you don’t have to build office buildings. So it’s very easy. Um so I I think u thanks also to Jonathan, we have a good relationship with the uh local government administration. It’s uh it’s fun. This is fun for San Jose to have a team and their name in the papers every day. Um so I’m I’m feeling very good about that. With the with the new administration, they were the outgoing administration, they were not so engaged anymore. With the new administration, they saw that we are an asset and um they not that we forced them to do something. It was mutual agreement. Uh which is much better that they understand what we bring. We understand what we have to bring. That’s good hockey. Mike once a once or twice a week. Uh depends on how urgent it is. uh big things he always comes to me but not with every decision. Sure. So um he is u very stable and and wellounded in decision-m so he’s not insecure. Uh so he doesn’t use me as a decision maker.

Hasso should sell the team to someone who is truly invested and passionate about creating a championship caliber franchise.
Hasso has the largest privately owned collection of Monet artwork. He’s been kind enough to display it in a museum so that everyone can enjoy it.
