“We’re Confident In This Group” | Alex Tuch On Injuries To The Team | Buffalo Sabres
Alex, you’re one game into the season and dealing with a lot of injury, adversity. I mean, how do you guys just go forward here? It happens during the course of the year, but generally not game two. Yeah. Yeah. I think uh I think in the long run, I think it’ll help us um getting guys in early that might not have been in the starting lineup, right? Uh right away, um getting some games in early uh I think it’s going to be key because like you said, it happens throughout the course of the season. We have to have that next man up mentality. Everyone’s got to be ready to go. Uh whether um whether you’re in or you’re scratch or even call up from ratch, we need we’re going to need everybody to to win a lot of hockey games this year. Have you felt maybe the passing was just a little bit off in the first game? If that improves, do you think the goals will start coming if if maybe the passes are just a little bit crisper than they were in the first game? Yeah, maybe. I didn’t I didn’t know that notice that uh too much. I I noticed that we were just a little bit on the outside. I think we could have made it a little bit harder. Thought we were really good defensively. Didn’t give them too many opportunities. Uh Lindy said we only given him one adman rush and it was kind of off of uh off the ref honestly. And so uh that was something that we really focused on coming in and now we have to get back to that our offensive tendencies that made us successful last year. Uh especially in five out five. I think we can get a lot more opportunities, make it harder on the on their Dmen and uh just play with a lot more pace. How badly have you feel for Josh just because he’s been through so much and he obviously had a great camp, a great summer. It looked like he was ready to bust out. I mean, yeah. No, I mean, um, it’s tough. I mean, no matter who it is, an injury is tough. Uh, I think the worst part about it is you you’re having to do it kind of alone. We got a couple guys now, so you have a little bit of a rehab group that is able to rehab together. Um, which is nice that you’re around some of the guys. Uh but not being on the road with the guys, not being around the team at all times. I think he’s probably one of the harder parts. Uh for him, a little bit of injury bug obviously had a tough tough go the last couple years. Came in I thought he was in incredible shape. Uh he’s right at the top for all the physical testing. Uh he looked really good in the exhibition game. So uh to see him go down uh was was tough I think for everybody. Um I sent him a text last night just told him I was thinking of him. It’s just it is tough. It sucks honestly. There’s no no sugar coating it, but I know that he’s going to still continue to work hard. He’s a really positive guy, so he’s going to he’s going to be a big lift to us when he comes back in the lineup. How do you keep the uh the wo is us like just all these injuries and it’s a brand new season. You’re just starting out and you’ve had all this to deal with already. How do you keep from getting down in the dumps about that? Uh yeah, I mean it’s it’s really just we just come to play hockey. Just go out, have fun. Like I said, that next man up mentality is huge. Uh I think I think we’re all really confident in everybody that we have on on our roster. Uh anyone knows on the lineup, I think we’re really confident in. Um I think we have a lot of depth. Guys that are able to play up and down the lineup. And I think that’ll be huge. I mean, that’s what the best teams do is they’re able to insert guys when their injury happens, when their best player goes down, and and they’re still able to win games and and uh impose their will on other teams. And so, uh, I think it’s good that I don’t think it’s good that it happened to us in the beginning, but I think it’ll be a learning experience for us and, uh, make us better in the long run. It was basically a onegoal, one- nothing game for a lot of that game. What made it a good defensive effort for you, do you think? Yeah, I just think we were really assertive. I think I think our neutral zone for check was really good. It allowed us to uh allowed them to not have too much speed in the neutral zone. Uh, slowed their game down a little bit. And then I thought we were just really good in in our Dzone of uh keeping their shots out to the outside, not giving them too many open looks. Um I I thought we were just uh good and strong on our sticks around our net and clearing pucks out. And like I I mean like you said, it was a one- nothing game till the last couple minutes there. Uh let it get away from us. Didn’t really give us a shot at the end, but um for the most part, I thought it was a really good effort.

I know that's what you're supposed to say, but why would any rational person have confidence in this group? Cozens scored a goal in his opener, Norris got hurt. Everyone decent leaves. The team is an embarrassment and the fans deserve better. Worse yet, the organization seems completely content with mediocrity. One game in and I'm already indifferent. Why waste time watching a team that doesn't have a prayer of competing?
Go Sabres
Pegula pay this man NOW, because if this season goes south Kekalainen ( please fire Adams asap) will have to trade him at the deadline because he will say, see ya im done with this tire fire! If he leaves Dahlin and Thompson will ask for a trade soon guaranteed !
Until you right the ship they're just more words. Time passes, the fans slowly file into the lifeboats. "We've got to play with a little more pace"? What you're saying is, you weren't ready to compete in your home opener. Wow. 😵
"everyone's got a be ready to go" hahahahaha
