Sounds good!
Glad to have him!
I am glad they got this done right away. If you don’t like this, I don’t like you
Hell yeah. Fuck the haters I’m glad we locked him down. Go Tigers!
Very impressed with the press conference. Both Harris and Hinch sound all in and the honesty from them about the end of the season was refreshing.
Deserved
He has some a tremendous job these past two seasons considering the level of talent he had had to work with. We also know he can succeed on a roster with a ton of talent (assuming it wasn’t just the cheating.) So, I don’t see any reason why not to extend the man.
I think hes too concerned with match-ups for my taste, but if you try to replace him you’re much more likely to find someone worse than someone better.
I’m glad. I was a little bit upset that he didn’t pinch hit anybody in the 15 inning game, but he didn’t make a bunch of the guys go 0-5 or 0-6.
If anyone blames this season on Hinch then you don’t know baseball? I’ll admit he could’ve made a few better decisions. Especially in the last game but he’s a good manager. He knows baseball and used what his front office gave him.
Skubal next
Please get him some more talent to work with. Enough wasting roster space on multiple of the same types of guys. There’s no reason to have both Jones and Ibanez on the roster.
Fine with me. I can’t wait to see the rest of the plan.
It was rumored to be signed early September, but then they had their worst month in years and didn’t want to announce it during the slide.
I think it’s the right move. Not a fan of every decision he’s ever made but if we get him a couple more legitimate contributors we’ll be good.
He is decent enough. Still could have PH for Keith on Friday though.
More years as a Tiger than an Astro. 2 years in a row making the playoffs with a roster full of bench players. Winner mentality. I’m proud to have him manage this team
Ok now go pay Skubal and if you have enough left a couple elite batters
Yes I know that’s wishful thinking
Ok then Harris. Get this man some better talent.
He’s not perfect, but he’s better than what most teams in the league have so I’m cool with the extension.
Excellent. Now go get him some more talent to work with, Harris.
Cool. Now go shopping in the offseason.
I believe Hinch is 80% of the reason they’ve made any noise the last couple seasons. He can only do so much with what he’s been given.
It would have been nice if they were a bit more aggressive at the trade deadline. Seattle grabbed a couple of bats. They know Skubal will be gone after this year when he hits the open market. I don’t see Chris Illitch paying a pitcher $400 million. The freakin Dodgers will probably add him. I hope someone else can win this year.
Hinch frustrates me alot but I don’t want him to leave
Well deserved.
Tigers do not disclose contract details for coaches and executives. What? Why?
I’m a Hinch fan. I was impressed how far he has taken the team with its flawed roster. I think with him at the helm, the addition of good young bats, and the return of Olson and Jobe, we will be contenders for the foreseeable future
Unless we win a World Series, people will always bitch about the manager, even if he’s good. I’ve seen so many people recently talk about Jim Leyland like he’s the second coming of Christ but I also remember their nonsense from 2006-2013 complaining about playing Brandon Inge too much, bunting to move runners, bullpen management, etc. There were people who legitimately wanted him fired 😂.
All that being said, AJ has exceeded expectations so far and earned an extension. Time for the team to take the next step in the next couple years.
Meh. I’m not a fan but it’s whatever. Give him a roster that’s not full of utility guys and let’s see what happens.
Now add clutch hitters
Now do Skubal!
Hinch is going to surpass Leyland for number of years in a Tiger uniform. Wouldn’t be surprised if he approaches Sparky level longevity.
Please find some actual hitters. Players who can put bat to ball when it matters. These strikeouts are unbearable.
I am actually really looking forward to a big off-season shake up and MLB roster overhaul/upgrade.
My main man Scott Harris has to give AJ Hinch more to work with this upcoming season, and I am sure Scott and AJ had very honest, long and meaningful conversations about this before Hinch decided to accept any extension; which is an excellent sign of future things to come imo.
I have been critical of Hinch in the past, but he did more of some of the things that I was looking to see from him and the team in this season’s playoffs; which showed me that AJ is adaptable, versatile and willing to change; based on the situation, roster or opponent.
Now Scott Harris has to get more players on the MLB roster that fit his vision and mantra of dominating the strike zone instead of striking out and attacking players that put tremendous pressure on opposing teams.

Very happy to have Hinch more. Back to back playoffs on teams that have been overperforming.
