Shaedon Sharpe on his Approach, Teammates and Performance | Portland Trail Blazers

I didn’t get a chance to talk to you postgame after game one at Golden State where you essentially went off. Uh just how comfortable did you feel and do you feel like that is kind of like a game that you’d like to be consistently playing the rest of the season? Uh yeah, I try and uh come in and play my game every game. Um you know, u big shout out to my teammates for, you know, trusting in me to make those types of plays, but yeah, every game I’m going to try and come out and just compete and help my team in any way. Do you feel like the game’s somewhat This term gets used a lot, but slowing down for you because it seems as though you’re really like at ease with your game? Yeah, especially the way we play in practice, we’re really playing fast and um the coaches really harp on that. So, um come game time, you know, game, you know, kind of slows down. So, you know, the more we we play fast, I don’t know, the game just, you know, comes to me and slows down. So, coach mentioned, uh being aggressive all the time. Just in your own game, how you define aggressive? Uh just attacking the rim, putting pressure on the defense. um just being a dog on on defense as well and um you know uh talking out coverages and um you know just playing with intensity. So there there there’s a nice give and go moment last game with you and Hansen. It’s still like a spark but it’s a aha moment for a lot of people and goes really well. Do you see more of that kind of opportunity when chemistry start building between you guys? Yeah, he’s a great passer and I feel like I’m a pretty good finisher. So, um, you know, as we play together and and just build chemistry, I think it’ll just become easier. Um, but we just got to play more games and practice some more and and it’ll be okay. Your extension talk, so you just ignore that? Do you get updates from your agents or do you just stay away from all that? No, I just I just play basketball. I just play my game and um everything will work out. So, you don’t want to know anything? Nah, I just play basketball. Why I don’t want to know nothing? Yeah. Distracting. It’s just at the end of the day, I’m I’m I’m going to come here and play basketball. Like, that’s what my job is. That’s what my job is to just come here and play basketball. So that’s what I do. People get paid for their jobs though. I understand that. But at the end of the day, it’s basketball. I’ve only been doing this since a little kid. So I’m not really worried about the money. The money will come. You know, at the end of the day, it’s basketball. If you were another team scouting the Blazers, can you talk about how difficult it would be with all your guys depth and the amount of weapons that you guys can throw at teams? I mean, we got a lot of depth. We got a lot of guys that, you know, want to come in and play fast. So, you know, if if five get tired, you know, five more will come in and do the job and um play fast and and compete. So, yeah, we got a lot of depth and a lot of players that, you know, can do similar things. So, how would you describe like the positive impact that Drew Holiday has made on this team this season so far? I know it’s early, but yeah, like I said in in previous interviews, he’s a vet. So, you know, having that, you know, vet figure on the court with you, uh, you know, is a big plus and he really helps everyone be in certain positions and, um, know, he’s just a vet. So, how would you evaluate uh, just where you’re at so far in the preseason about where you want to be? You got more to do. Where are you at? Uh, there’s always room for improvement. U, so I’m going, you know, keep building on what we have here and, you know, what I’m trying to accomplish. So, um, but I think I think we’re good where we at. Yeah. What about you? Do I mean personally? Yeah. Just keep building every day. Yeah. What’s the next thing you want to build on? Just my overall game. [Music]

  1. Thank you Shaedon for doing your job and coming out to Parklane Park in SE Portland Saturday. P.S. ๐Ÿ˜คLet this 22 year old play basketball๐Ÿ˜ค

  2. I mean this from a place of love- can we please get some better questions?? Itโ€™s the same 10 in rotation over and over. Obviously Sharpe is sick of it๐Ÿ˜‚

  3. That reporterโ€™s stupid. Yes you get paid for your job, but are you the accountant responsible for the money getting to you? Are you the computerized operation thatโ€™s sending the money to your bank account? No, youโ€™re asking questions and writing articles for the fans. Shaedon is doing what he loves, and you clearly love asking money questions that make no sense, so keep doing you ๐Ÿ‘ he clearly doesnโ€™t understand Shaedonโ€™s perspective and thinks heโ€™s dodging the question. Heโ€™s not, itโ€™s a genuine perspective. Youโ€™re not the money.
