Behind the Storm: Episode 1
How do you measure the disappointment of falling short with the achievement of getting to this stage? The Florida Panthers for the third consecutive season are heading to the Stanley Cup final. I think what we have in that locker room is really special. I guess time will tell how it’s all going to play out, but it’s going to be a big offseason. Just see it as, you know, someone who’s going to come in and look like he should have been playing for us his whole life. They bring in Kandre Miller. He goes to a team where his defenseman go to thrive. All they do is acquire defenseman and turn them into baskets on their own. If you’re talking on who had a big free agency period, you got to talk about Carolina. Seth Jarvis, Nikolai Eers, Sebastian, Andreikov, Logan Stanovven, and now Jackson Blake all signed for at least the next four seasons. And they look like they’re right at the beginning of a window. [Music] [Music] [Music] And now a penalty coming up to Florida. A slash with three minutes to go here in the third. Canes are three for 18 in this series on the man advantage. Jarvis, he’ll get it in. dropped. Smash the cuff. Shoots. Misses. Ao side of the net. That goes through the crease. It’ll be knocked down. Bennett can have an empty net. He’s going to hustle out in front and he scores. So, yeah, it’s tough. Like to see a power play goal tonight there. And they got one and we didn’t get any. Yeah, it wasn’t. Again, I don’t think it was bad effort, but it doesn’t matter this time of year. What’s the effort? If you uh the score matters and obviously they uh they won a game, Rod, given all the turnover in the offseason and all the changes, how do you measure the disappointment of falling short with the achievement of getting to this stage? Thank you. Stan Co with a he scores. Logan State coins. First goal in the playoffs for the Canes. What a play by Jacob Slavven. Slavven goes short side. He scores. Roll the highlight reel back for Gosses. Oh, series over Sebastian. Oh w it come up with it with a chance. They score. Logan State Co. Jeff Jarvis and it’s two nothing Carolina as Stall gets a chance and he scores. There’s a huge goal for the captain. Like it’s the craziest thing that we’re this far and it’s all over here is negativity. I got nothing but pride with this group and you know God we didn’t love how this kind of went this series but again that’s the the standard right there. That’s you’re not giving Florida enough credit. There is a lot to be excited for. I mean, we got we have young guys like, you know, Stanks and we already know what kind of player Jarvis is. He’s only going to get better play key. Like, we got, you know, good pieces in the team and obviously I feel like the kind of the core, whatever you you want to call it, it’s we’ve been through quite a bit. Obviously, uh yeah, it’s a exciting off seasonason cuz like now we do have a cap space and we do, you know, have some assets, but you know, like I guess time will tell how how it’s all going to play out, but it’s exciting and I think I I do think we have uh really really good pieces here, but also I think uh it’s going to be a big offseason for us. Yeah, I think there’s definitely a lot of pieces out there that I think any team in the NHL would want to get, especially um free agent wise, but I mean, you have to make sure they fit with the team, with the culture. Uh I think what we have in that locker room is really special, and you don’t want to disrupt that. And I think that’s a big reason why we got so far this year with the team we did was how everyone bought in and everyone worked so hard just to get to the playoffs and and prove those people wrong and then make a run like we did was really special. And I think uh building off of that, when you can bring in high-end talent, that’d be great. But you also need to make sure they fit in with the culture and and the way the team’s uh organized. I’ve enjoyed every minute of being here and uh the people within the organization and my teammates. Um yeah, I think I’ve been able to create a really good bond with uh you know, everyone here and um I love the city and um just kind of the vibes around it. So, uh, yeah, looking forward to, uh, hopefully spending a lot more time here. Breaking news, Logan Stankovan signs an 8-year extension with the Canes at 6 mill. Dude, great deal. If you watched him in the playoffs this year, I think this kid steps up in the big moments. Even if he’s exactly what he is right now, that’s a steal. It’s a great deal. Everyone losing their mind about it. Again, it’s like the 8 years for a 22-year-old. It’s like you’re getting a long-term extension of a guy who’s coming into his own that you think and you hope he’s he’s performed at every level and he’s only going to be 30 at the end of the deal. You’re laughing, brother. Are you kidding me? JB locked in 5.1 AV. Are you kidding me? That’s going to be an unbelievable deal soon. Clearly seeing extreme value in him. Congratulations. Not many guys get that 8-year deal after less than 82 games played, but uh the Hurricanes might be on to something here. Speaking of that, you got one of your guys ressigned today also with Logan Stanhovven. Just speak to a little about the impression he’s made over such a short amount of time with you guys and obviously the playoffs, too. He was very good. Yeah, I mean, Logan’s been great. You know, he’s he’s been fantastic on the ice. You know, his his work ethic and his ability to play hard. It just, you know, he plays the game the right way and he plays it the way we want a player to play and it’s, you know, it’s just been a dream since day one. He’s also off the ice just an incredible guy and you know someone we wanted to have part of our family for as long as we could and the opportunity to to get that commitment and know that we’ll have him here for at least eight more years beyond this one and hopefully another contract after that. You know, it’s it’s really important to us. We you know we see him as a core piece and someone who will be a part of what we build in the years to come. Now you’re saying I’m going to go here. Hey, how’s it going? Doing okay. You uh where you stand on Kandre right now? I can do a first a second tomorrow. Sounds good. Thank you. His game’s based on his on his physical being. What he brings is our system. Yeah. He’s got good feet. He reminds me of Brady Shay. That’s what the escape. Yeah. And getting up in the rush. Uh the league is signed off of another contract. So that’s going to get done. So it’s all come together. If both picks are in the top 10 of the 2026 draft, New York shall receive the better of Carolina’s 2027 first round pick and Dallas’s 2027 first round pick. In that case, neither 2026 first round pick shall be transferred to the Rangers. Uh the So that’s part one. Part two is Carolina’s 2026 second round pick. Part three is Scott Morrow. And then in return, New York trades Kandre Miller to Carolina. So, welcome aboard. We are very excited to have you. It’s a I think it think it’s a great fit. You know, the the way you skate and close out is going, you know, it’s just going to fit the way we play. You know, defending in front of the net is what we need. like just see it as, you know, someone who’s going to come in and look like he should have been playing for us his whole life. So, really looking forward to it. I do think Keandre Miller will turn into a better player for Carolina just because of the the system and the way that Carolina plays, but I think four years from now, the way we talk about Keandre Miller will be much different than it is today. What’s up, bro? Nice to meet you, Keandre. Nice to meet you, too. Super excited to have him. Um it was a big trade for us in signing and uh he’s definitely going to help our team a lot. Um good player, you know, he’s got great size, good shot, so it’s going to be good for us. Just excited for a new chapter. I feel like I had uh some people to prove honestly. I took it with a grain of salt and kind of just kept working each day of the summer um to try to get better and honestly just use the that new contract as kind of motivation throughout my summer. I think for me it’s just been getting to know the guys, getting to be around a new team. Um, obviously it’s it’s always a little bit of an adjustment period. Once that died down, I was just trying to um learn and get to know my my teammates um on the ice and off the ice. He’s a pro. You know, he comes in, does what he needs to do, asks questions, you know, just watching him move, uh, you could tell that he’s he’s just an athlete. He skates well, gets up the ice. I think he’s got a lot of things that, you know, you want your players to check off and and he does them all really well at a high level. So, I think, like I said, he’s all around. He’s he’s got the whole package. You know, obviously there’s a time where we need to get to know each other and we got to figure out exactly, you know, what works. There’s not oneizefits-all for all our players. So, you have to develop those relationships. And he’s willing to listen. He’s willing to give feedback to us. So, it’s it’s been great. I’m super excited. I think uh we got a really good team um in this locker room uh with a lot of potential from our speed, skill to the brains of uh this team. I think we got it all and I think uh got a good team to make a good run this year. When do we hear on the eers? Like how was that? He’s going to talk to you today. Did it for an hour? Yeah. Always tomorrow. Yeah. Nikolai Eers is a Carolina Hurricane 6year contract, $8.5 million per season. They added a speedy scoring wing. Talk about a guy who fits perfectly in that system as well where he skates, skates, skates. Helps out in a lot of areas of the game and it alleviates a little pressure off of that top six. I like the fit because it’s something that they need. they’re addressing a need with with the speed that he has, skating ability, ability to back defenders off, play one-on-one. So, there’s going to be another layer to their offense based on the strengths of Nikolai Eers, but now it’s up to the Carolina Hurricanes to implement that into their system. I believe that I will fit in very nicely. The talks that I’ve had with the people in in the Canes organization, uh, is something that really excited me. If you’re talking on who had a big free agency period, you got to talk about Carolina. Seth Jarvis, Sebastian, Andre Spetchnikov, Logan Stankman, and now Jackson Blake all signed for at least the next four seasons. The Canes made it on the other side and and they look like they’re right at the beginning of a window.

When Ehlers gets the first goal for us, watch out, he will start to tear it up.
Don't be shy – show us the convos around the Hockey Canada Five that the team apparently considered to be on par with "Carolina Culture"

YEEESS OMG I LOVE THIS – LETSD GO CANES
I got to see K’Andre Miller’s debut Canes versus Devils game, what a great start to the season! Behind the storm is going to be a great addition for the canes fans culture.
Very nicely done, can’t wait to see the next episode!
Stankoven has so much to be proud of. Can really tell Logan plays with his heart. I hope the pressure doesn’t weigh to heavy on his shoulders. Cannot wait to see all of his accomplishments unfold. ♥️
Same with Blake. I cannot even say enough to scratch the surface of Blake’s depth. ♥️
K’Andre stole my attention – admittedly I was really worried from all of the negativity from Rangers fans but obviously they were commenting from emotions. All I can say is WOW what an electric guy!!
