“Have To Stay Positive” | Lindy Ruff After 3-1 Loss To Colorado Avalanche | Buffalo Sabres

You had guys around the net. They were tipping pucks. They were there. It seemed as the game went on, maybe second, third period, you know, as much of it. Um I I thought uh you know, we didn’t break break the puck out near as well as that first period really broke the puck out well. Got it below the goal line. Our won a lot of battles, got around the net. Uh second period, uh you know, same thing. We had you know, Thompson missed an empty net. I thought Bryce missed an empty net off the side. Uh we had three or four really good really good opportunities. I didn’t like our third. I thought, you know, we were overplaying those top four D. I don’t I don’t think we got up ice enough to help our forwards out. And they broke it out quicker and some of our execution leaving the zone wasn’t it wasn’t near as clean as it was in the first two periods. You know, when you look at this team, I mean, teams can start a season 0 and three, but just how shocked are you with the guys who are in that room to have two goals? Yeah. You know what? Uh, you look at we have we’ve got bodies that need need to produce for us for sure. Um, a little bit of squeezing right now, but I think, um, for me, there was some good signs in that, you know, in that game. And I know we’re a little we’re a little short. Um but there was opportunities to produce. Um the Boston game not not near as much. What are the signs? Yeah. Uh we had we had good ozone time. We skated on people. We had opportunities and where we got to the inside. We missed the net on quite a few. I thought we mishandled we just mishandled too many pucks that would have turned into better chances, but we did get inside. play. You you changed things up a little. You generated a little. What did you think of the power play in general? Um, you know, it was again a night where the killers really the killers probably dominated. I didn’t we didn’t handle their pressure well again. I I thought, you know, we you got to you got to get that bumper release or you got to be able to get away from that pressure and there was a few times we didn’t get away from it quick enough. What’s the report on? Um, actually a good report dayto-day. Um, we actually feared a little worse, but it uh there’s a chance he could play on on Wednesday, I think. The injuries are stacked up, is this kind of affecting the morale of the room just because of so many guys? You you know what, you you’ve got to you’ve got to try to stay positive. Um, you know, you take out a a Norris and a Benson and another top four defenseman and, you know, I looked at Sammy the way he’d been killing penalties. I’ done a real good job. I thought tonight Power took over in that position and did, you know, did a real good job. Couple failed clears in the last one. Um, but you got to earn what you got to earn what you get. Um, everybody deals with injuries, but we’ve got, you know, we got players that need to produce for us that, um, can’t make excuses for. We’ve got to got to do the right thing, and you got to be able to win games even with injuries. tomorrow. What do you guys have to do now to get out of Um, yeah, we’ll we’ll make a decision on that. You know, there’s there have been quite a bit of hockey here and uh how long we get on the ice for. I thought our energy was again, like I said, I thought that first period I thought that Kak line set the tone with that first shift and our energy in the first period and for the most part in the second period was good. Um, we faded and end of third. The third period, what does your team have to do to really pick up the energy and pick up the momentum? We have to pass the puck, pass the puck better, like breaking the puck out of our zone. Uh, when you spend like 15 seconds and you have a breakout pass and you and you don’t execute and you let them counter right back on you, we have too many times we had tired people on the ice. First period, you know, 25 30 second shift, we spent it in their zone. They chipped it out. We went at them, but while they were changing, they flipped the table on us in the third period. That hurt us. Thanks. What’s that? What’ you say on the second goal Colorado on the Well, I just think that, you know, Dolls, he tried I think he saw Quinn open wide. He tried, you know, he tried to one time and I think he puck was bobbling and low percentage play um that we end up h handing it to him. And I just thought when you look at that, if you make that mistake, I think the way we defend that is just let the goalie have the breakaway, protect his backside, and we didn’t do a good job on that.

  1. Agree with comment on NHL stepping in and trying to help this disgraceful NHL team ! Power is bad and top 6 is maybe a bottom 6 on any other NHL team . Bad GM should be fired by end of the week ! Ownership needs help ! Locker room needs help and captain of team should step down ; good player but not a leader Team needs toughness and not a bunch of pouters. Bad Team with very little to leadership or toughness !

  2. I’m POSITIVE, that we’re not going to make the playoffs again. I’m POSITIVE that this team has no repercussions after back to back to back losses. They get a hug and a pat on the back with an encouraging phrase of “Just be positive”

  3. “Owen “mad man power” should’ve been paid 12 sheets a year. He is a very tough and physical defenseman that is honestly one of the best first overall picks of recent times”-Kevyn Adams (Probably)

  4. Sabres fans have been 'staying positive' for the last 14 MFN YEARS! The time for "staying positive' is MFN OVER!!!
    Now we are just ANGRY!!!!
    ANGRY AT BAD OWNERSHIP!!!
    ANGRY AT BAD MANAGEMENT!!!
    ANGRY AT BAD COACHING!!!
    ANGRY AT BAD PLAYERS!!!
    ANGRY AT BEING A JOKE!!!
    ANGRY AT BEING A LAUGHINGSTOCK!!!
