  2. I mean, honestly, Im getting really disheartened by our ownership and entire front office. I’d believe some shit like this could happen.

Until we have a change in ownership and everything all the way down, I’m going to continue to be worried about our future.

  3. I don’t think he’d go to the Oilers. Maybe he’ll go somewhere else but not to the Oilers

  4. Guggenheim, you own the Dodgers and Lakers. So please buy the Kings and Staples Center so we can have Kempe. Kings fans deserve nice things.

  5. That’d be hilarious and may be the necessary evil that needs to happen in order for ALL KINGS FANS to finally realize that the front office are a bunch of incompetent morons and need to be cleansed out of the Kings org.

  6. I would hate for this to happen but If the Kings are not going to re-sign Kempe. Then the Kings should trade him and get something for him.

  7. If it’s true he’s gunning for $12ish, then that might just be too much for a long term deal for a 29 year old. I like Kempe, and want to sign him, just closer to $10. If there is no breaking that impasse, then get as much as you can for him. Preferably young forwards and picks

  8. Not gonna panic yet. Kings would do a sign and trade outside the division if they got to that point.

  9. My concern is just with him re-signing not him going to Edmonton. Is it really the money or common sense on Kempe’s part? With Kopi retiring and Kuzmenko on a one year contract, Kempe’s line potentially disappears after this season. I’d want some answers before committing to this team long-term, regardless of the money. Might have to be a short Connor-like contract for the Kings to prove their commitment to winning, not rebuilding.

  10. leaving his nice ass home in the south bay to live in edmonton would certainly be a choice.

  11. Holland is building a Championship team for the Oilers. We took their weakest link in Ceci and in return we will give them a Kempe, maybe a Kuzy too.

  12. This is just speculation. Early season has very little drama so the media has to create it.

  13. I have chosen to believe Kempe wants some assurances between being a new dad and the leadership not-quite-a-vacuum next year, and that those guarantees are the hold up, not the price point. Might be reading too far between the lines, but I’ve gotten the impression he paid close attention to how Brownie and Kopi conducted themselves on and off the ice and wants to emulate their examples, which means knowing if he’s going to be on a team of spare parts or not for the next few years. Like I said, all conjecture, but I choose to believe he wants to stay AND keep us competitive and he has some leverage right now to make demands.

(But yes, please god, let that headline just be stirring the pot…)
