Did you confuse him with Gettleman?
The fatal mistakes Marty made were drafting poorly in the later rounds and then trading away 1st rounders 2 years in a row. He never recovered from that.
He did sign a bunch of players to cap killing contracts (mostly long time contributors at least) in 2011, but this was by all accounts a direct order from Mr Jeans Day himself.Â
Best GM the Panthers ever had. So many star players were drafted by this guy.
Marty catching random strays
Dude never missed on a 1st round pick. Sucked drafting later round talent and handed out some abhorrent contracts, but overall dude was a solid GM that helped put together 2 SB appearance rosters.
