Mikal had the lowest rate of going to the line amongst all high-volume players last year. Does he have the worst whistle in the NBA, or does he just avoid contact like the plague?

Both?! I think that he simultaneously didn’t drive to the rim as much as he should have and also got a fairly weak whistle when he did (he certainly made an effort to avoid lots of contact last season, though, so take that with a small grain of salt).
Mostly avoids contact i think. He did start going to the rim a little more often near the end of the year, and id like him to continue to mix finishing around the rim with that middy he used.
I think it’s his aversion to contact. I don’t know if there’s an advanced stat for fadeaways, but he’s got to be near the top, no matter where he is on the court. Avoiding contact has also shown itself on defense, as he gets taken out of the play by even the slightest screen, which is maddening when he’s out there with the likes of Deuce and OG, who are killing themselves to stay with their man.
It’s mostly avoiding contact. Which is frustrating bc he’s a very good cutter and has that crazy wingspan to shoot over guys and draw the bump for the and one
Dunno looks like he’s playing way different this year tho don’t have to keep looking at last years stats – season is starting soon.
He’s got an Ironman streak to keep going
Lots of mid-range jumpers. Which is fine, he’s good at it
Rhetorical question. You know the answer to that
He avoids contact at the rim, its noticeable every game. Aside from his conditioning, why do you think he’s never missed a game in his career?
We’re doing this already?
Do you watch the Knicks? Clearly not because he never goes to the basket. All he does is mid range.
i don’t like it for anyone else but him. you’re trading a trip to the free throw line, giving a foul to the opponent, and a possible three point play for a low percentage mid range fadeaway when you’re likely to get injured anyway because basketball is chaotic. but mikal has been doing it for so long that it’s pretty high percentage at this point and he doesn’t get injured playing defense.
He plays like he’s contagious to physical contact offensively
He never misses a game. I’ll take availability over FT
Yeah I mean yeah he loves that low post fade coming out of a drive, you’re not gonna get free throws doing that move even if it does create good seperation for him.
