Paul Maurice, Panthers Postgame: Florida Loses First of the Season to Philadelphia Flyers
Well, we’ll look back at the game and it won’t be a lot of defensive breakdowns. It’s what we did with the puck and and then why we had a lot of standing with the puck when we moved it. And that and that for me, we were we played a slow puck game. Uh so the turnovers, even broken plays or plays that didn’t get completed, we just had we were standing still when we were moving the puck. And that’s true of our back end. That was true of our forwards, whether we were in the offensive zone or the defensive zone. Um, we were trying to make plays when there weren’t any from a standing position and that’s why we look so slow. Do yourself look strong in his assessment? No, he he was good. He gets across the net real hard, talks to his Dman. He was fine. Uh, most of the action he got was of the higher end. There weren’t a lot of shots. I think we gave up with him in the net. I I I think we gave up five even strength shots for the last two periods, but the power play they had in the second was a full two-minute heater on him. So he he had to be good. You know how Valent with Reinhardt there on the peak end there. Seems like Yeah. Same thing as Bark Bark on Reinhard looks like. Yeah. Something like to go with I’m just trying to manage minutes for for Sam. Uh they’re so good together and and that’s an obvious pair for us. I’ve liked their kill. I mean we’ve some nights it’s got to be the goal. I think in the second period it was. Other than that our penalty kills been right on. And Rhard seem to really shift momentum. How did you kind of notice the bench and the guys react? I thought our first shift of the second period was good. Again, we shot ourselves in the foot. I felt we were coming and then we give up the breakaway goal just on a puck that we possess. And then we are slowing down with the puck. That’s that’s not going to work for anybody. Okay every

"We were trying to make plays when there weren't any." That sums of this game for the Panthers.
A great deal of the game was spent "The Panthers have the puck in their own zone, and they can't get it out". I didn't see good break out passes.
