I mean to date, we’ve had far more moments talking through his abysmal stats and moments than his good moments so it’s not fair to suddenly claim he’s great and act like we as fans are wrong. But I think I speak for most folks when I say he’s played much better the last few games and we’re all rooting for him to make this recent level of play his baseline / standard vs the outlier (which it objectively has been for over two years). So keep it up Bryce and let’s keep pounding
Agreed with Chris Long.
While true, that’s all up to Bryce.
He definitely looks more confident each week.
I think the biggest issue in professional sports is players or judge based upon individual stats. To me what makes you a great quarterback is how you perform in those big critical moments. In the fourth quarter when it was like fourth than five, and he converted it, that was a huge play. The problem with looking at stats individually is that you can definitely make your numbers look better in garbage time and for a lot of Bryce Young’s games, that is the case.
I still think he’s going to be a great quarterback because he understands how to read defenses and he delivers a very catch Ball most of the time.
But I don’t think he’s going to carry a team. I don’t think he’s the kind of player that can go to a bad team and just make them better, you have to surround him with good pieces.
Whether it’s Ben high school or college, she’s always been surrounded by the best talent.
And I also definitely think you need a strong run game behind him. Even last season when he got a lot better towards the second half of the season, our run game also picked up. Because when we’re not moving the ball, he’s a different quarterback.
I know people talk about the Patriots game and how abysmal he was. I do believe that during that game most of our rushing yards came in the second half when the game was already out of reach. So we couldn’t establish the run early on. I know we have like 166 yards of total offense at halftime. All of it also affected 4th down efficiency, which has gotten a heck of a lot better these last two weeks.
I’ve watched every game during the Bryce Young era, and I’ll say these last three wins have felt different from the six other wins with him as the starter. Only one of them didn’t involve a game-winning drive (the Falcons game this year), but against the Dolphins and Cowboys, we were able to rely on strong performances from Rico and the offensive line, along with the defense allowing just 50 rushing yards combined over those two games.
I don’t expect the defense to hold opponents under 50 rushing yards or the offense to run for 200 yards every week. However, I do believe this is an identity the team can lean on moving forward — a team that stops the run and imposes its will on defenses with a physical running game, including tight ends and wide receivers blocking on the perimeter.
This approach will take pressure off a young quarterback, allowing him to execute the game plan and focus on making three to five special plays a game rather than feeling like he has to be perfect.
I think more and more we see these QBs drafted in the top 10 settle in over the length of their careers. Darnold and Baker hit close to home. But even Lawrence, Goff, Daniel Jones, Kyler (kinda).
Build on the positives. Continue surrounding him with talent. I’m personally in on Bryce and think that he can continue improving as the team builds around him.
Random but anyone else remember when Chris Long got ejected and flipped off the whole BoA crowd when he was on the Rams?
I’m honestly fine with rolling him out on his fourth year even if he doesn’t completely figure it out this year. He was completely handicapped by the atrocious roster we had his rookie year so I completely consider this year to be his true sophomore year.
Not a ringing endorsement for a 3rd year QB, 3 years in you generally know what kind of player you have
Bryce is playing better, we are relying on the run a lot more. BUT… Bryce has come through with passing when needed. I also think our defense has really gotten a lot better in the past 3 weeks. I think the D can get even better. I still am not 100% sold on Bryce, but I will support him 100%.
If he can keep his game up, yes. His problem is volatility… He’s top tier one week to be bad next one.
Dude is in the NFL. Yes, he is a pro. But he is not good enough to win a Super Bowl for us. But he is a fine bridge until we can get a real QB behind center.
