It’s because Mahomes is back to playing at an MVP level and that just makes it a lot more fun to watch, regardless of wins and losses.
This has a vibe similar to the earlier Mahome’s years for sure
Meh. I would say this is what the media wanted us to believe last year, and how we see our team going forward this year.
As a fan, if you haven’t enjoyed the ride since Reid, and especially since Mahomes, then I don’t know what to tell you. For me, it’s all smiles.
This offense is probably the best we have had in quite awhile. Oline and WR’s are stacked. If the defense can be the defense we all know it’s a recipe for success.
This time last year I still thought the offense could turn it around, but I became less optimistic every week because they couldn’t figure out the LT stuff and Rice and Brown were both out.
Right now they feel like a better team for sure at this point, and they still have room to grow before the playoffs.
They can now pass block and everyone else is a dumpster fire.
We were winning games last year we had no business winning, I feel much better about our team this year
Seth Keysor once wrote that he might be able to write a book one day about how negatively 2023 affected Mahomes. Even though they won the SB his trust in himself, his receivers, and his OL was truly shaken. Last year didn’t help and, in fact, might have made it worse. But this year the line is playing much better and he has receivers he can actually trust. He’s playing fast and playing on instinct now. The last couple years he wasn’t throwing to spots he was only throwing when receivers were open. And he was hesitating and double pumping, etc. But now he’s out there slinging it and it looks so much better and more comfortable. That’s what makes this team feel different right now, IMO.
Even superstar MVPs like Mahomes can have their confidence shaken a bit, but what makes the great ones great is how they are able to get it back.
Defence looked rough the first two drives but if Detroit truly is the best offence in the league then we’ve got a lot of softer touches from this point forward. I love how we can always depend on random Juju big chunk plays every game now too.
In Rashee’s rookie year his kind of breakout game was against the Raiders so hopefully we see an immediate impact on Sunday by him.
I was happy last year too, but this year the offense definitely looks a lot better and now that Mahomes has weapons again he looks like the MVP. The thing with the Chiefs is they can make it to the Super Bowl when they’re not at their best (like last year). When they ARE at their best, watch out. Enjoying the ride.
It’s mahomes new haircut
The boys are having fun again this year!!! It shows. 🤩
I’m still worried about the three early losses. The team is making dumb mistakes that, if continued, could lose us a couple other games. We have a genuine shot at not winning the division and if the team continues dropping games for silly reasons there is even a world where we miss the playoffs.
Honestly the colts are fakes. Other than that, we are only 1 game back in the conference.
Conference looks as open as I have ever seen it. Chiefs are building: Crashee back, simmons improving, whole line improving.
I can feel a huge run happening. This win v Detroit was huge
We’ve lost 3 good games by a total of 12 points. We could have easily won in Brazil, we held the Eagles to a dismal offensive showing and lost to the Jags cause of a few mistakes. It happens. Still very happy with what’s going on this year.
It’s because of the O line. The game looks so much better and fun to watch on offense when 75% of plays don’t break down immediately at the snap.
It’s a long held theory of mine that fan bases in the NFL will take fun offense over wins every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Look no further than our own fan base or Philly currently. Or the Bengals fanbase is a particularly great current example.
Last year was like riding a freaky but safe rollercoaster
This year is like when your buddy’s dad tries to build a skate park at home with 0 regulatory oversight, much more dangerous but far more fun
Man this is so accurate
I married into a family of Patriots fans. When they were still in the dynasty years, my brother-in-law used to tell me how he couldn’t enjoy watching football anymore. I couldn’t understand why until the Chiefs dynasty began.
When losing is the default, you’re hopeful each game that you win. When winning is the default, you’re worried each game that you’re going to lose. We were due for an ego and expectation reset.
Offense is way better at this point than it was in 2024. Defense took a step back, but we can score points. If we play mistake free ball we can light up a scoreboard.
The increase in points per game is exciting. We scored a touchdown in all 10 of the last 12 quarters of football. I am not saying we are scoring at will, but the idea of we can’t score in both halves is hopefully ending.
6-0 didn’t feel QUITE that bad.
We would probably be 5-1 right now if butker could kick
Even if we don’t win our division and get in as a wildcard this year, we are definitely having more fun and playing stress free football. We are also heading in the right direction with our offense moving forward. I can see the light show coming back. Lol. I think last year the high stress of going for the three-peat and having to grind out every single win in the regular season was too much to overcome in the end and we didn’t look like we were having much fun. Go Chiefs!
Last year seemed inevitable and it pissed everyone off.
This year they are earning it every single yard. They aren’t making excuses, blaming this or that. That are learning and improving…which if they are successful and reach their 6th super bowl since 2020 it will break the NFL, internet, and the world. “insert evil laugh”
the Chiefs losses this season:
* international game, no comment on those
* the Eagles before they forgot how to play football, featuring an unreal amount of things going their way including their cheating still being allowed
* Jags having their SB hang the banner moment in October after being down 0-14 and getting bailed out with a phantom call that turned that game into a literal nightmare
I don’t think it’s even remotely an exaggeration to say the Chiefs could have been 6-0, and that would have been fucking awful for the Chiefs, because all the same pressures and talking points of last season would be back tenfold; now, “the Chiefs are bad LOL” which has given them enough space to actually get better by doing more than just the safe boring shit that gets you “guaranteed” wins like they were doing last season.
I’m sure people are sick of hearing about gambling so I’ll be brief on that angle – the Chiefs are the 2nd best SB favorite right now (behind the mighty Bills, lol) and Mahomes is the #1 favorite for picking up another MVP, you can say whatever you want about gambling, Las Vegas isn’t in the business of losing money & no team has been as disrespected as KC in terms of gambling odds/lines, so if even there it’s them at the top across the board you know the tide has truly been turned.
That’s because we are convinced we are good. Rough start against the toughest rival in the division who were healthy, then the defending champs, we showed our ability ramping up and faltered a little at Jacksonville but at least we know the 3 mistakes we made their was one on each area of the team. Pick 6, Jones letting off the gas, and Butker kicking it out of bounds. All of those can be worked on.
Same! 2024 was just a slog, man. Win or lose, it was 3 hours of stress. It reached the point where I wasn’t really looking forward to the games. I tried to tell myself, “just enjoy the ride, it always turns out great for us”, but frankly, this year is just more fun.
Mahomes is playing his usually great game, now he has a line that doesn’t have a turnstile at one end and a yellow scarf factory at the other. He doesn’t have to play on schedule every play and it allows him to test the furthest boundaries of the defense. He does whatever needs to be done. Last year he needed to get the ball out quickly, now he can go through reads.
We’re one clean Travis Kelce catch away from 4-2
Mahomes running for his life the entire season aged him like 5 years.
Then again he learnt more in the one year thatn probably the rest he’s been playing.
I was trying to tell an Eagles fan the same thing at 3-0 but they weren’t trying to hear it …

Agree. I enjoy watching this team more this year.
