BAD News Keeps On Coming In For The Miami Dolphins…

[Music] The Miami Dolphins are 1 and5, the laughing stock of the National Football League. Yet, the bad news just continues to roll in. And no, it’s not bad news that Mike McDaniel is still employed at head coach. It has to do with the injury front to players that are currently on IR and players that spoke about Tua’s comments from Sunday afternoon as well. Before we get into the news, make sure you follow us over on Instagram. Dolphin Today IG is our handle. We post more short form content over there. So, if you want 365 247 coverage of the Dolphins, follow us over there because we put out content in between our YouTube shows. We’re five followers away from 1300. who gives follow. Let’s pass that number on today’s show. So, Mike McDaniel in speaking to the media on Monday afternoon relayed the message that the four players, actually five players if you count Andrew Meyer that are on either pup or injured reserve right now, they all will not be returning again. Now, Liam Iikenberg and Andrew Meyer were eligible to return before the week five game against Carolina. They did not. Austin Jackson and James Daniels were eligible to return this week against the Chargers because they were placed on IR prior to week two. They did not. So that’s now two weeks extended after eligibility to return off IR for your projected starting right guard right tackle duo of James Daniels and Austin Jackson. And my question is are they ever going to return? Listen, James Daniels suffered a pec injury in week one. He was already dealing with an ankle injury. So it was a completely unrelated injury. He suffers it. You hear Mike McDaniels say at the beginning of the IR stint, hey, there’s hope that Daniels could ultimately return really close to that eligibility following the minimum four weeks. Well, now we’re going to be at six weeks if they’re not being activated this week against the Browns. And same thing goes with Austin Jackson. Like, it’s just unbelievable that the Dolphins continue to have to deal with these offensive line injuries. Like, thank God Aaron Brewer and Patrick Paul have been able to stay healthy through six weeks, but like you can’t get more than one quarter from James Daniels and Austin Jackson. It’s unfathomable. Larry Borum, who has been filling in for Austin Jackson, has actually picked up his play over the past couple of weeks. I can’t lie. After being a bottom 15 offensive lineman in the NFL over the first month of the year, he has been much better in the last two weeks against Carolina and the Chargers. Week five in Carolina put up a pretty solid pass blocking day. No sacks, only one pressure. Graded out very nicely. Did struggle in the run game as of every single offensive lineman did. I mean, the Dolphins averaged 1.7 yards per carry against Carolina. Week six, really good performance. He’s actually one of the highest graded players on the entire roster for the Dolphins, putting up a 78.9 pass blocking grade, 70.1 overall, once again allowing just one pressure and zero sacks. Like Boram has been playing better and he even had a better day in the run game as well. Devon Chan ran for a careerhigh in rushing yards. But also when you take a look at that 49yd rushing touchdown which got Miami on the board on Sunday, it was a great play design by Mike McDaniel. Give credit where credit’s due. He has Jaylen Wadd to the left or excuse me, yeah, left like deep left, Devon Chan to his left, two tight ends to the left. He has Ali Gordon come in motion and then he hands it off on a just other way to chan. What happened is that they ended up getting a lopsided defense where there were six players on the left side where all the players are, but they’re running it to the right side where there’s only five guys. And then you also pulled Larry Borum, you pulled um Cole Strange, Aaron Brewer, and if you sealed the outside, which Miami did, it was two offensive linemen and Devon Achan versus three defensive backs for the Chargers. So, you just had to get two blocks and Han win the one-on-one battle. Achan was able to win the one-on-one battle. Great blocks from Strange and Brewer in space. Good seal by Larry Borum and allowed Han to go untouch for a touchdown. So, I got to give Larry Borm a little bit of credit. He has been better as of late, but it still remains the same point here that Austin Jackson is twice the player that Larry Borham is, but he is just unable to stay on the football field and is incredibly infuriating. Now filling in for James Daniels over the past couple of weeks has been Cole Strange. It started with Keon Smith, then was Daniel Brunkull for a half, but the last three weeks it has been Cole Strange. Started against the Jets in week four. Was actually pretty solid. Dolphins got a win, but Strange has been brutal the past couple of weeks. Specifically in past pro, I mean, the run blocking grades aren’t good, but it’s the best part of his game. He’s allowed three pressures in back-to-back weeks and had under a 30 pass blocking grade in each of the last two weeks while having an under 45 overall grade. It’s hard to imagine the Dolphins offensive guard play being worse than it was last year with Liam Iikenberg and Robert Jones, but here we are in week seven of the NFL season. I’m here to tell you through the first six games, they have somehow had worse guard play than they did last season with Iikenberg and Jones. Cole Strange, Keon Smith, Daniel Bronco, whatever combination you want to say at right guard and Jonah Savi and Iaya have been horrible. I mean Jonah is the worst offensive guard in football. Ranked 113 out of 113. That is how bad it is. And once again this past week against the Chargers, he allowed a sack on third down in that second half. It was in that first possession of the third quarter where he gets beat instantaneously in pass. one-on-one left on an island. Swiped hands, easy sack. It’s bad. But I did want to make this statement right here, and I briefly said this a couple weeks ago, and I want to reaffirm my belief in that statement. It is time to move off of Austin Jackson. He can no longer be counted on to be a staple of this offensive line. And it is just abundantly clear. It is simply is like he is a good right tackle when on the football field. He was awesome in 2023 which earned him a three-year contract extension and he was good in the first eight weeks of the season last year before he suffered that injury which made him miss the second half of the season. But we’ve seen him have injury issues prior to that one good season in 2023. And we’ve also seen him just be bad at different positions. struggled at left tackle, struggled at guard before finding a good home at right tackle. But the fact that he has been unable to consistently stay on the football field tells you this is not a guy you can rely on to be a starting right tackle in the NFL. So, you got to move off. The issue is is that there is no really clear way to find his replacement at ease. Jackson has one year left on his deal 2026 and his contract is pretty much massively guaranteed. So, you’re not saving any money if you were to release him at all. You’re just not. The top offensive linemen in free agency this year, Braden Smith, Jonah Williams, Germaine Luminor, and Justin School. All offensive tackles, mostly playing on the right side, by the way. All would be improvements. I think we’ve seen good things from school this year after being a backup in Tampa Bay. He started a couple of games for Minnesota. I think he’s fine. Aluminor has been actually one of the more underrated offensive lineman football. Brain Smith and Jonah Williams both ranking around the halfway point. Both average graded offensive linemen, but average and available is as good as you can possibly find in Miami because they don’t simply have that. But the point I’m trying to make here with showing this is that it’s going to be incredibly difficult to sign one of them because there are only really four competent right tackles to sign and they’re going to have a higher demand and price point or just resign with their team. So, it’s going to be hard for Miami to convince them to take a deal that makes sense for them. So, it feels as if you might have to make a trade or draft a right tackle. But once again, can you trust Chris Greer to do that? Absolutely not. This goes back to the point that we’ve been spamming here at the channel that need to get rid of Chris Greer because you can’t trust him to draft an offensive lineman because has he drafted one that has been elite? No. He certainly had his chances. And I like the way Patrick Paul has looked, but it’s too early to tell. Jonah has looked horrible. We know Liam Mikeberg. Robert Hunt was a good pick in the second round, but have we seen him draft and extend an offensive line in Miami that has had sustained success? Not really. So, if you’re going to draft an offensive tackle, it can’t be from Chris Greer. But let’s go back to this point. Should the Dolphins move on from Austin Jackson like I believe? I think they should. Like the guy seems like a nice dude. Okay. leader just can’t trust him. He’s not dependable. And if there’s one position where you need dependability to be maybe your best strength, it’s offensive line. Are you able to stay on the football field? Austin Jackson’s unable to do so. Let me know your thoughts. More injury news. Tyrell Dodson missed his first game of the year against the Chargers, still in concussion protocol. Um McDaniel said that he is doing well and is hopeful for Dodson to be cleared from concussion protocol. in the next couple of games or days I should say, excuse me. Now, KJ Britt was the one who filled in for Dodson. They actually gave the green dot to Jordan Brooks, which has usually been manned by Tyrell Dodson. And Brett was the starting linebacker opposite of Brooks. And Brett actually played borderline every single snap for Miami. I think he just missed one or two snaps. And McDaniel categorized his play as phenomenal versus the Chargers. Now, I don’t mean to dis be disrespectful to KJ Brett. I just have a hard time imagining it being phenomenal. Um, because the do defense gave up 29 points again and the run defense gave up 100 plus yards to Kamani Vidal again. The Dolphins have the worst run defense in the NFL. They’re they are either worst or second worst in yards per play, EPA per rush, yards per game. They are just simply put the worst run defense in the NFL and it’s not really close. Now, I’ll be honest. KJ Britt, I thought he did play a relatively decent game. Led the team in tackles, 13. Now, didn’t make any tackles for loss, but I thought Britt was fine. And I thought he was really good in that first half when Miami only held the Chargers to nine points. You see his grades here by PFF. I mean, he isn’t the best coverage guy. We knew that. He is a downhill thumping linebacker. That’s his strength, which is how you see him play well in the run and tackle. Only a 7.1% miss tackle rate overall 56.9. Like I thought he was fine, but to label the play as phenomenal feels a little bit irresponsible by a Mike McDaniel. I also just get uberly frustrated at the fact that Willie Gay didn’t play a snap. You would think that he would get snaps considering he was now either lineback or a three or LB2. I tweeted this out. I mean, I don’t know what he did, but I feel as if he did something to Mike McDaniel and Anthony even behind the scenes because how could you justify not playing him? The entire month of August, all we heard from beat reporters in training camp, joint practices, my goodness, Willie Gay Jr. making plays, consistently rushing the passer, in the passing game, and stopping runs. We saw all of that in the preseason. Willie Gay looked awesome in the preseason, but yet he has only played 17 snaps defensively this year through six games. and in the largest opportunity to get him on the field, he didn’t play a snap. I just don’t understand. Do they hate him? Did all of the beat reporters lie in August and July and he actually wasn’t that good? I have a hard time believing that because almost every beat reporter was in agreement about Willie Gay and we saw with our own eyes in the three preseason games how well Willie played. So what is the reason why he can’t get on the field? Dolphins have the worst defense in the entire National Football League and they refuse to make changes to the personnel they put out on the field every snap. It makes no sense and it just goes back to why this coaching staff is so bad. Whether it is injury updates, roster removes, rumors, trade rumors, which we’ll have more of those coming up here across the next couple of days. Hit that sub button and join the family at Dolphins today. Now, let’s shift over to what Mike McDaniel said about Tua. And we briefly talked about it in our Monday afternoon video, but in case you didn’t watch it, I want to rehash something. We know what happened after the game on Sunday afternoon. Tua Tongaloa called out his teammates and used his captain leadership, whatever you want to call it, his a C on his chest. Okay. used to see on the chess to call up the team and say, “Yeah, we’ve had players showing up late to online playerled meetings and in in the building.” And a lot of people had issue with that, former players, media members, yours truly. I didn’t respect Tua in the slightest for bringing out and airing out Dolphins Dirty Laundry as a captain to the media in the public. That felt wrong. Mike McDaniel tends to agree. He said this today or on Monday, excuse me. Now that I’ve heard them, you guys caught me before I heard them. After a loss as a franchise quarterback, that’s not the place to say that. He knows that now. I honestly believe there was no ill intention. You’re talking about a misrepresentation of a player orchestrated film sessions. It is really hard to fathom, folks. The disconnect from the players to the coaches, front office to the owners. It’s bad. Like you have your QB1, your highest played player, one of your captains calling out the locker room for not showing up to meetings on time. You have your head coach now contradicting and saying that was the wrong thing for your quarterback to do. It’s just dysfunction. We used that word a ton on Sunday. We used it a ton on Monday and I’ll use it a little bit today because I don’t know what other word to use. And if you’ve got a better word, let me know. But the team is dysfunctional from top to bottom. Chaos has ensued in the locker room and the team is fractured. They all try to act like they’re still together and they’re playing for together and trying to make the right strides for improvement. They say a lot of the right things to the media for the most part, but then you have Tua saying this and you see how they play on the field on Sundays and there’s no way you can believe what they say to the media. I think there’s a lot going on behind the scenes. Does someone tweet this? I believe it. When Mike McDaniel, Chris Greer, and Tu are all removed from this franchise, I think some of the stories that might come out three years from now when all three of them are gone are going to be absolutely bonkers. They’re going to be nuts. like that it’s going to be hard to really watch and listen those comments come out. Rounding out the show here in a second and I know you guys probably don’t want to buy anything Miami Dolphins related. Hey, I don’t blame you. But if you do want to take advantage of the Dolphins rivalry gear that was released this season, go to chadsports.com/dolphins rivalry. Get a hat, sweatshirt, jersey, polo, shorts, socks. They’ve got a million gazillion different things. One more time, chatsports.com/dolphins rivalry. Links in the description and comments of today’s video. You had a couple offensive linemen speak to the media today and they were asked about to us comments. And how about this man? Secondyear offensive tackle Patrick Ball says, “Yeah, I’m not going to try to speak on that. I try to keep that stuff out of the media. I think that should be handled internally.” Well, then you had another captain, Aaron Brewer. Remember, Dolphins captains are Tua, Aaron Brewer, um, Minka, Al Gingold, Zack Celler, Jordan Brooks. Jordan Brooks said no comment yes on on Sunday afternoon. Aaron Brewer said about the same thing as Patrick Paul and how he doesn’t really want to speak on it right now and believes it all should be kept in house. Like, I know this is a pretty harsh probably reaction, but I I have it. I would strip to a ton of Alo’s captains, take the C off of his chest. And I know that might be like the most demoralizing thing maybe in the history of the NFL. And it’s like uh if you guys any watch Stranger or not Stranger Things, Game of Thrones, my favorite show of all time, by the way, um where I think it’s season five, maybe six, where they have the faith and they make the people walk through the streets naked going shame, shame for atonement. I know that’s what it would be like for Tua if you took away the C off his chest, but how could you seriously believe that he is a leader of this team and he has the full support and respect of the locker room when he goes out and does that? I feel like he has a pity captain. This is just me guessing. I don’t know that. I’m not reporting that. But I I think that like they voted him captain because they knew that his ego is so fragile and he’s so insecure that if he was not voted captain, he would throw a hissy. I’m exhausted, man. I don’t think I’ve ever been so ready for a Dolphin season to end and it’s been weeks, six weeks. Like, think about this. You get 17 games, 1819 if you’re lucky. And We’re in week seven and I if I could press a button to end the season, I you know how bad and dysfunctional you have to be to have your fan base by week seven want the season to end already? like, can I just hit a button? Fast forward to January 10th so the Dolphins could no longer have McDaniel Greer on the organization and they could be having a head coach DM search. That would be perfect. It really would, would it not? I’m exhausted. I am. Well, hopefully McDaniel and Greer get fired soon or if they wait until after the season, we’ll have you covered. when we inevitably have a new GM head coach search in January and February, we’ll have you updated on every single piece of news there as well. So, subscribe and join the family here at Dolphins today. [Music]

  1. Will you people ever see the truth? The rot of this team (if it can be seriously referred to as a team.) is not McDaniel. Grier, or Tua "Turntheballova". It is the man who writes the checks, Mr. Stephen Ross who is a corrupt individual the proof being his past deeds. He is just like Daniel Snyder the former owner of the Commanders, as long as Snyder owned that team they were going nowhere, the same applies to Ross and the Dolphins. Until he and whatever heirs he has are no longer associated with the Dolphins the future is bleak indeed. No player or coach is ever going to change this sentence of doom. Nic and the other talking heads can ramble on and on but that is the bottom line

  2. it is clear that Miami has an all time NFL worst defense being led by a DEI hire at D coordinator. There are more rock solid high school freshman defensive coordinators that have a far better understanding of down and distance awareness. Miami looks absolutely confused like a deer in the headlights when the other team throws a forward pass.

  3. Every time I see that missed tackle, the near sack of Justin Herbert late in the 4th Q. by Phillips who had him in his arms and just let go for some unknown reason, and led to a 50 yd pass play, I cringe and am dumbfounded. It's plays like that, that lose games and it did.

  4. According to ChatGTP, Chris Grier is ranked 24th out of 32 based on ability to shape a team, draft picks and trade outcomes from 2020 to 2025; AND in the past 25 years the Dolphins have appeared in the playoffs 6 times, won the Wild Card rounds in 2000 and 2022 but lost the Divisional Rounds. No Superbowl appearances since 1985!, Last AFC Championship game was 1992, which they lost. So yeah, WE SUCK! But I will always Love the Dolphins and hope this drought goes away soon.

  5. Louis Reddick and a Experience Assistant Gm. Keep thing as is until we can get from under Tua contract. I think we have a personnel problem. No young talent Chris Grier has to go

  6. The Miami Dolphins players if that’s what you wanna call them players are always getting her too soft way too soft in the NFL boy i do I miss the old days in the NFL pathetic football players just plain outright, pathetic embarrassing as hell

  7. Ross doesn't want to fire Mike McDaniel. At the end of the season you fired the GM. Tua doesn't have a fragile ego. Tua has a horrible Head Coach Mike McDaniel. Has taken a totaled out to think right on the field of play. Tua needs a new start somewhere else. Ross is the problem where everything flows from. Unfortunately you can't fired the owner.

  8. Injuries whether real or imagined will continue to mount. Why risk a carreer ending injury with the current situation. People are not going to rush to come off IR. I expect the practice squad to get alot of work if things don't get considerably better soon.

  9. F that if I was Tua I’d air everyone out if they don’t wanna get it together then we gonna be blasted f it let’s see who takes this shit serious when they I. The media

  10. At this point. Miami can not draft / trade/ acquire any player that has any kind of injury history. But ! Mise well just get use to it unless Grier is gone. And just not sure that's going to happen in the near future. Just watch this bad team and hope for the best .

  11. AJ was great in 23 he was alright Hunt was key figure on that right side. AJ only got extended because couldnt make 2020 draft class even more garbage. He been rank below avg every year
