Yankees bullpen coach Mike Harkey, infield coach Travis Chapman not returning next season

  1. Tip of the cap to Harkey. Guy has been in the org since like 08. I’m so used to seeing him out there in the pen. Sad to hear he’s leaving.

  2. Not surprised with Travis Chapman after Boone yelled at him instead of Jazz after that base running debacle

  3. Andy Martino says other roles are being evaluated as we speak so there could be more firings on the way. But I can’t help but feel they’re being scapegoated for poor roster construction.

  4. We preferred people with tenure gone, but there were more appealing options to get rid of than Harkey. Moving the chairs around on the seemingly, never sinking Titanic

  5. How about fucking Rojas? Dude’s been a dogshit third base coach for years and somehow still employed.

  6. Not Mike Harkey! That dude has been the bullpen coach for so long he was the one constant. Can’t blame him for the shit bullpen Cashman put together.

  7. It’s going to be real weird when they cut to the bullpen and Harkey, who to me seriously doesn’t look like he’s aged, is not there. Thanks for all the great work Mike!

  8. Loved Harkey. Hope he finds a home with another team, gonna be odd seeing another guy answering the phone out there

  9. Real question: how much of the development of relievers is to the bullpen coach and how much is to the pitching coach? Considering Harkey has been here for so long, I strongly suspect the lion’s share of pitching development is the pitching coach.

And it’s just a good example of the type of half measures this team specializes in.

  10. Yes fire everyone but the guy who leads them and the GM who guides him. What a fuckin farce. It will be the same outcome if Boone and Cashman come back

  11. Happy Chapman is gone feel like he sucked for a first base coach. Shouldn’t even know his name!!! Sucks for Hark tho. Been a yankee mainstay for years

  12. there should obviously be more changes than this but the talent in the pen was objectively better than they performed and guys like Weav were coming in in big spots when they clearly had complete shit for stuff on the night and I don’t think it’s crazy to think the BP coach should be on the horn telling the manager to get someone else up because Weav doesn’t have it tonight. Now, it would be nice to have a manager that actually has some sense of which guys are going to pitch well on a given night and can put the spread sheet aside when necessary, but some guys in this organization clearly have unlimited lives.

  13. Be cool to get Ron Washington to be our 1st base coach, he could really help with our infield defence
