"Gruden emailed Allen that Goodell should not have pressured then-St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher to draft "queers," referring to former defensive end Michael Sam, a gay player drafted in 2014, according to The Times. The Times also reported that Gruden used an anti-gay slur in several instances while referring to Goodell and used offensive language to describe some owners, coaches and media members who cover the league." Say what you will about his record and results (which we will get to in a minute) but he is a morally repugnant man who has no business being a leader of an NFL team.
Now on to his record :
He NEVER won a playoff game after the superbowl. That means his last playoff win was 23 years ago.
His 2nd tenure with the Raiders he had a 22-31 record. Not to mention the terrible drafts that are well known he was forcing Mike Mayock to make the picks and trades. Clelin Ferrell at #4 anyone? Damon Arnette? The MBC debacle?
He is only getting buzz now because he is on Barstool Sports making tiktoks about breaking down film and has no place being employed by an NFL team any longer.

All teams have learned from and adjusted to what he used to go to the superbowl, over 20 years ago. And he didn’t adjust. Sounds a bit familiar to me. Besides him being a shit person, his way of playing and doing things is passé. We don’t need that shit, now or ever.
He’s also suing the NFL and Roger Goodell. I find it hard to work for a “company” you’re actively fighting in court.
The game has passed him by but I have fond memories of Grumors.
For me, Gruden is to American Football what Trump is to American Politics. I will personally never understand the appeal, but by God a lot of folks love him, especially people from Tennessee for some reason.
The whole Gruden dick riding comes from the overlap with Vols fans. For some reason those insufferable people think that bowl cut wearing grown toddler is the greatest coach ever and for some reason they always think he wants to go to Knoxville every time they need a coach.

Let’s not forget that he used racist language…… we don’t need that here.
Putting aside the fact that Gruden thinks less of LGBTQ people like me, a bisexual guy, this would be his **fourth** stop as a coach.
Oakland, Tampa, hiatus before Oakland/Vegas, now potentially here. I was a few months old when he last won a playoff game, and I’m about to graduate Cum Laude with a STEM degree. I’m not spending my money on someone the world has passed by on and off the field. The fact that we got a decent draft for once and Gruden was picking for Mayock makes me even more leery.

I care that Jeff Fisher has a more recent playoff win that Jon Gruden. I care that he’s nearly an entire season in the hole since his Superbowl win. I care more that the Raiders looked like butt with him, and that they had drafts that rivaled JRobs’ when Mayock and him were in charge, and Gruden had significant input on player selection.

If you think for one second that all 32 NFL teams coaches players etc, don’t use some kind of slur or anti-gay rhetoric on a daily basis in conversation than your wildly mistaken, or have never been around a bunch of guys in a sports setting. Difference with Gruden is he got outed. I’m totally ok with him being the coach. I don’t honestly care about my players or coaches morals if they can produce. It remains to be seen if he can produce, but the email thing is absolutely thrown out for me in considering if I want him or not.
People are so soft nowadays. I honestly do not give a shit what he may or may not have said in an email. The shit I say in the party chat would get me publicly executed. He’s a great coach and players love him. It would be a home run hire even though it’s definitely not happening.

Give me a break on “morally repugnant” lol. That is an emotional overreaction at a personal level. Not a nice thing to say by any means but you’re acting like he gutted someone in the streets of Las Vegas and set fire to their corpse (a truly “morally repugnant” thing to do.) Especially when that language wasn’t uncommon in sports at that time period.
As for the records, the team he built during that second Raiders stint went on to make the playoffs the season he was fired and had gotten progressively better every year he had been the HC.
Now to be clear, he isn’t on my short list, but people who seriously say “McCarthy!” and then shudder at Gruden are kidding themselves. McCarthy was a bad playcaller in Dallas and it is showing this year. Gruden and McCarthy are in the same tier of older, mediocre offense but strong culture-building, Mularkey types.
