The NBA Is NOT Ready for Our SPURS!
We don’t even have Darren Fox or Jeremy Sohan yet. And this Spurs team is cooking and they’re only going to get better. What is up, San Antonio Spurs fans? Welcome to TSR Sports. How about our Spurs 4 and 0 in the preseason? Yes, I know it’s only preseason, but we are seeing the improvements right there on the court. Let’s just jump into and take a look and see how everybody has been playing so far. These stats will be courtesy of Real Gym. This is the Spurs preseason. It’s a little hard to see. I’m sorry, but if making any bigger, you won’t be able to see well all the main guys. So, here we go. Starting off with Victor Webeyama. Wow. Wii is going full Webby. He is averaging 17 points per game in just under 20 minutes per game. Shooting 63% from the field, 44 from the arc, 87 from the line. He is absolutely killing it. The one blemish. And I’m sure we can all agree, Izzy is turning the ball over at a high clip right now. 4.8 turnovers per game in only 19.6 minutes. That being said, I don’t think he’s going to handle the ball as much as he is right now. We’ll have Fox playing, have him at point. Cast will share the duties plus Harper. So, right now, I just think it’s one of those one of those things. I I don’t want to keep using the rust excuse, but I think his turnovers will clean up in the regular season. Probably going to still average at least three to three and a half, but he’s not going to be averaging five, six, seven like he is right now. Up next, oh Atlanta. Kellman Johnson is playing lights out on offense right now. He’s literally NBA jam on fire. His shooting splits are 79, 71, and 100. Granted, small sample size on the threes, but he just This is a Kelman I was hoping for a few years ago that I saw glimpses of. He’s put a little size on. You can tell he’s bulked up a little bit, but he’s doing such a great job positioning his body in the paint and getting the shots. And maybe there’s a little luck right now, and they’re just going in, but he is finishing so much better in the paint than he did last few years. And his three-point shot seems to be back as well, which the Spurs desperately need if he’s going to be the spark plug off the bench right now. Love what I’m seeing from Kell Johnson. Stefon Castle made his debut last night. Yeah, I like what I seen. The 360 dunk was nice on the fast break that didn’t count because of a foul, but I like what I see except for the free throw shooting. Two of five ain’t going to cut it. So, that that’s got to get better. But otherwise, Steph, like what you’re doing. Some of you in the live chat last night said during the game he seems to be too aggressive, trying to do too much. I’m guessing, could be totally wrong, just an assumption on my part, my two cents that this was his first came back game back in the preseason and coach Johnson and company gave him the green light to, you know, try to do a little extra to get some reps in. By the way, he did ding his knee up a little bit, but he said he’s okay. Just precautionary coming out of the game. Just kind of cramped it up a bit or cramped up his leg. He’s okay. Up next, Julian Champeni has been a sniper from three-point land, shooting 58%. He could be a very valuable asset for us from the bench. We really struggled last year. We went to our bench. I like what I’m seeing out of Julian so far. So, keep up the good work. All right. This next one, I think we’re going to have differing opinions. Deon Bell. Overall, what I’m seeing from him is mostly good except the three-point shot is not going in at the moment. He’s only shooting 17%. And he seems to be forcing shots a little bit. But otherwise, I like what I’ve seen from Devin. I don’t have any huge complaints. I know expectations are high due to the contract, but he seems, you know, mostly doing well. Luke Cornett, wow, Spurs fans, what what can we say about Luke Cornett? Could he possibly be one of the steels from free agency? I remember when he was signed, a lot of Spurs fans, including myself, said, “Did we overpay Luke Cornette a little bit?” And I tell you, if he keeps playing like this, it’s going to look like we underpaid. He’s the backup we have needed for WBY that he he is the backup. No disrespect to Zack Collins, Bism Bambo or Charles Bassie, geez, who played well last night apparently. But man, Cornet is is as advertised and better. Seeing them share the court has worked great. When WHMY comes out and Cornet comes in, it’s it’s been just I I love it. Absolutely love it. So, hope he keeps going through the regular season. And speaking of keep going through the regular season, Dylan Harper, there’s our future point guard, guys. Just watching him play last night, I was like, “Yep, there’s our future point guard.” The question is when Fox is under contract now for what, four more years, five more years. So, who knows? Maybe the Spurs will continue to run a three-man rotation with Harper, Castle, and Fox. And one of them will play the Manu role coming off the bench. Certainly not Fox right now. Not C. Not likely Castle. It’s his job to lose to Harper. And if if Castle becomes Armano, hey, so be it. Or if Harper becomes Armano for the next year. Whatever it is, I like what I’m seeing. You have 96 minutes available between the one and the two to split between those three guys. 32 minutes a game makes sense, but Harper is as advertised and little bit we have seen and Spurs fans should be excited about him. As far as being excited, Carter Bryant looks legit and crazy athletic. I think he has close to 40inch ver, but man, he is a little bit we’ve seen him out there. Love what I’m seeing. And question I have for you guys is what do you think happens with Carter Bryant? Is he going to be with the regular roster and get some minutes immediately during the season or is he going to go to Austin with our team depth right now? Actually, you know what? It’s going to depend I guess probably on Jeremy So if Fox is going to miss the first few games of the season. So, I don’t know what’s going on with him. He has not played one second in the preseason yet. If they’re both both out to start the season, then I say Carter Bryant will be on the regular roster and get some minutes. when they both come back, he might go to the G- League to make sure he keeps getting 25, 30 minutes a game, whatever. But then again, if he’s absolutely killing it. So, I guess that’s kind of wait and see, but I think he’ll stay on the roster to start the season. Up next, Java Jones Garcia. Uh, you know, his shooting his shooting splits look absolutely awful, 350 and 91. But, man, Spurs fans love him. I love him. He was the hero of the Utah Jazz win. So, just that alone, he’s on a two-way contract, so expectations are not high. He was incredible in summer league. Has some things he needs to work on, but that that Jazz win obviously will be a little special in place in our hearts for the preseason. And last but not least, Lindy Waters a third. He’s a sniper from three. He’s shooting 50% on four threes a game. We we brought him on the team to shoot threes. He’s shooting threes. So, he could be a valuable asset off the bench if we need some scoring. Now, let’s get into the guys that aren’t on here because their points per game are too low and they’re not playing well. But you got to address the good and the bad and the ugly, I suppose. Harrison Barnes has been nothing short of awful so far in the preseason. Now, he’s a vet, so I’m hoping that’s just one of those things where the vet doesn’t show up in preseason and then the regular season he’s fine. But right now, his shooting splits are atrocious. 13, 18, and 63. He was taking a lot of corner threes last night and missing them. Now, they were some in-n-out burgers, so that’s a good sign. It’s not like he was way off. They were going in and then out, but still small little bit of concern for Harrison Barnes, but I do think he’ll be okay. It’s he’s just off at the moment. If he continues to be off though for the first five games of the season, 10 games, whatever, you have to wonder how long of a leash does he have from Coach Mitch before he gets benched. That’ll be a wait and see on that one. Also not playing too well in the preseason, Riley Min. Oh boy, kiddo, what are you doing? 2525. Has not taken a free throw. He’s just looked off in the preseason. Not sure what’s going on with him. And then a guy I was excited about the Spurs signing and my excitement is completely gone and I don’t think he’s no chance he’s on the roster in any way, shape, or form when the season starts. Micah Potter. He hasn’t taken any free throws, but his shooting splits are 13% from three, 9% overall. Yeah, that’s not gonna that’s not going to keep you employed with the San Antonio Spurs. So, that’s a little breakdown of the roster. I’ll put the link to Real Jam where I got the stats from below if you guys want to take a look at yourself or zoom in so you can see a little better. But, I got to say, watching the Spurs in the first four preseason games. I am absolutely excited to just what the ceiling is for this team. I’ve been talking about it really for the last few months, 50 wins, playoffs, and when I watch this team and see the potential, I believe it. Stefan Castle’s three-pointer looks smooth last night. His free throws were off, but his three-point shot looked much better. He went 204. Harper is better than I thought he would be already. There’s a lot of good things happening on this court. And I know some of you like, “Hey, Harper looks great. We can trade Castle.” Stop, stop, stop, stop. Because you know what’s going to happen if you trade Castle? You know what’s going to happen? Harper Fox is going to get hurt. And then our depth is going to be decimated like it was last year. You guys remember when we we had no bigs after the all-star break cuz Webby went down with his injury. We had traded Zack Collins. Charles Bassie had his noodle knee. That left us Bismac Biombo and Sandra Melishi. I know we have a lot of wing type players on this team. But right now, I say go with it and see what happens. But I do believe Castle and Harper are the back court of our future. The very least, I’m hoping it is. Um, so I I’m I’m excited for this team. I This is got to be the mo and for you guys, too. the most excited we’ve ever been for this team going into the regular season in this channel’s history. This channel started, as most of you know, and if you don’t, April 6, 2019, and I started calling the Spurs fulltime the fall of 2019, and they’ve only been a losing team with the most wins in any season, I believe, being 34. We’re winning more than 34 games this year. I believe that thoroughly, I think we’re going to be above 500. How much? I don’t know, but I do think 15 wins is possible. And it is going to be such a blast calling a winning season with you guys and finally finally calling some playoff games and wins. That’s all I got. Drop a comment down below. Through the four games of the preseason, who are you most excited about? Who are you disappointed with? Who do you think might be being overhyped? Who do you think might be underhyped? Or are you just like, it’s preseason, whatever. Hit the thumbs up to the channel and subscribe to become part of our awesome Spurs community. I thank you and as always, go Spurs go.

We look so good at the moment!!! So can't wait for the season now!!
Player wise I’m happy that we got good players but would mich Johnson be a good coach now that he had all the offseason to learn the play book
If keldon, sochan, and castle learn how to shoot, the nba is in trouble,
However, I still want franz in a trade
Best Spurs channel. Thanks for the video!
Dont forget Kelly Olynyk. Another solid depth piece. KJ embracing his role beautifully.
Harper impressed me. Kornet was amazing.
Great take on the state of Spurs Nation this preseason. I agree. I haven't been this excited in 6 years about the upcoming season. With the way the Spurs look, I don't fear any team and we know we can beat any team on any given night. But the one thing I disagree on is Micah Potter. I know he doesn't look great now but I think we are still thin at the forward spot. I think he snags the 15th spot over an aging Biyombo and an already guard heavy roster over Flagler and Umude. Looking forward to a great Spurs season. GO, TSR, GO!!! GO, SPURS, GO!!!!
I think the blood clot was a blessing for Wemby. My one slight complaint about him was his lackadaisical attitude sometimes. Now he knows it's not guaranteed and there's no time like the present. Everyone seems to be feeding off his urgency. Even the scrubs. Hopefully Sochan towes the line. They don't have to wait for him
go spurs go !
Harper needs to start pg until Fox returns . we don’t need Harrison Barnes trying to muscle his way into the paint . just shoot 3s & play defense that’s it
I was positively surprised by Carter Bryant during the preseason, especially after what we've seen in the Summer League.
And we're not even at full strength… ☺️
Fox needs to come back… KJ and Kornet are doing great off the bench. Champagnie is shooting over 50% from 3-point range, etc.
Can't wait for the season to start.
Harper, Bryant, Castle etc…
bench depth is starting to look like something exciting…
Great team this year 🖤🩶🤍💣💣💣
Your takes were almost identical to my thoughts, and I hadn't even looked at the aggregate box scores yet. This is gonna be a good year but I am certainly concerned about Barnes and Vassell and disappointed in Potter and Minix. DJG flashed the same potential at times but also looked awful at other times. Love the shooting role player potential from Lindy and was ecstatic to see og KJ show up to play. Can't emphasize enough how excited I am for Harper, CB and Kornet. Castle's shooting gave me loads of optimism and Wemby was… well, you know. Also, Champs has never looked better on both ends of the court.
We have no ceiling, and our quality depth is going to SUBSTANTIALLY raise our floor. I also am pretty convinced 50 wins isn't unreasonable.
For those who are already happy with what they see, Sochan, Fox, and Olynyk haven't even played yet. And soon as the Spurs signed Kornet, they had the best backup that Wemby has ever had, by far. With Kornet, now there's no need to worry as much about Wemby going to the bench.
Castle played well both sides of the ball. Free throws concern in a preseason game not worried at all
really happy with keldon, he put in a LOT of work over summer! i think this version of keldon is here to stay and in 6th man talks over the seasons ahead! GSG!!!
Nice game❤
Keldon killt it !!!
How far can they go this season? They'll make the playoffs, lose in the first round but gain the experience to take them true Western Conference contenders in 2026-2027.
Yes i it's the preseason but if you notice all those games the other team was trying to win and they were using more of their main players towards the end of the game compared to us using our third strings.
Spurs cannot start faulty Vassell, definitely won't win against OKC and the likes…
Spurs fan here! Born and raised….. but you might need to change that theme song…. Giants looking good!
Kornet was a guy I vouched for in the offseason and he’s been a big pivotal piece on why this team could be dangerous especially with him and wemby sharing the floor. So ready to see what they can do when the set starts next week
Wemby's turnover problem stems from his height. Wemby dribbles way too much in the paint to show off his ball-handling skills. Unfortunately, the long distance between the hardwood and his dribbling hand only invites double-teaming opponents to attempt steals. Wemby can't get low like Steph Curry, so he should curb his dribbling in the paint.
That jumpshot basically unlocks Keldon's downhill game. If keldon can stay at 36% teams are gonna close out to him hard.
We don't need Sochan I hope the Spurs can trade him ASAP
People talk so bad to Keldon Johnson and they all suck it up to him 🤦🏽♂️ I was the only one defending him
Oh come on Julian ? For real ? That dude trash
The haters just talking nonsense bout Devin Vassell 🤦🏽♂️🙄
Nah Carter Bryant he is going to a ok player but I prefer Juan David Garcia
ONE THEORY: Devin Vassell has an identical twin, who can't shoot to save his life; and apparently these two enjoy swapping lives some weeks. There's just no explaining this guy otherwise. As for Harrison Barnes, he'll show up when it's time: he's a veteran rock and consummate professional. Next Up: the arrival of FOX, SOCHAN, & OLYNYK — can't wait!
Let's go im back
