Minnesota Vikings News Dump (10.15.2025) | Co-Regional QBs, Bros Show Hype, Brandel Stays at Center?

[Music] What’s going on, Jeromes? Beautiful Wednesday. Birds are chirping and stuff and it’s time for another Vikings news dump. So, got the Tar Hills hoodie on. Uh, well, sorry, crew neck. Crew neck. Uh, trying to get Bill Bichc fired. Just one time. Just one time, man. North Carolina needs to be restored to the glory that was the M. Brown era. I don’t know. Anyways, but uh the Vikings are in their quarterback indeision era where JJ McCarthy ankle Carson Wentz shoulder and ribs Kevin McConnell’s got to decide who’s going to start Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Now Kevin McConnell did say on his weekly spot that neither quarterback are 100% sort of understandable this time of year as well as Sunday’s quarterback won’t be a secret but and also McCarthy could return this week at practice goes well. Now, he says that it’s not going to be a secret, but one of the the the big indicators is that starting quarterback meets with the media jackals on Wednesdays, but uh Will Raggs, the Vikings have announced that both JJ McCarthy and Carson Wentz will talk, which I don’t know. I don’t know. Uh but of course, the big indicator will be who gets quarterback one reps during practice this weekend. Even though the media shut off from that portion, I’m sure it’ll leak at at some point. But I don’t know. I don’t know. Like Kevin Collins generally doesn’t play games with the injury report. You remember like Zimmer where 2017 he would never name Case Keenum the starter from week to week. Oh, I don’t know who’s I don’t know who’s going to be starting quarterback. Shut up. Or I don’t know if Dolphin’s going to be playing. Get out of here. Anyways, uh but ba basically I feel like there is one right decision where JJ McCarthy’s healthy start him right. And I know that Carson Wentz has done great. He’s done Yman’s work. Uh, it looked phenomenal. Uh, really gritty, gutty, fighting through injury that last drive against the Browns. Nine for nine, feeling fine. Dime to Jordan Addison for the game-winning touchdown. But JJ McCarly show come hell or high water, he’s going to be the guy. And this was the plan all along. Plans haven’t really changed outside of, you know, some attrition. And it comes down to one question. Can the Vikings win a Super Bowl with Carson Wentz this year? If the answer is yes, start Wentz. If no, Jinger McCarthy needs some time in the saddle, right? You look at Drake May was ass thank you last year certainly up and down. Uh but now he looks pretty damn legit, right? And that experience is invaluable and you do have to see what you have in JJ McCarthy. Plus, you have a three-year Super Bowl window on his rookie deal and everyone shoved all their chips in with JJ McCarthy. So, I I do believe that he is uh going to be the starting quarterback once he is 100% healthy. Now, it could be a spot too where the the Vikings will take their time getting him back onto the field cuz I I actually do think right now the betting favorite to start on Sunday would be Carson Wentz against his former team. Uh but getting him back on the practice field, ramping him up for possibly the Chargers, certainly Detroit week nine uh could be part of the plan. Uh but also if if uh if Carson Wentz is banged up, can’t go, we’re all stars now in the bro show. Also athletic Vikings OC West Phillips today on Max Bromer. Nobody is going to question Max’s preparation going into any football game. No matter if he’s supposed to be the emergency three or two or if he’s going in as a starter, we all feel about intangibly. We all feel great about intangibly everything Max brings. Now I I didn’t watch the Phillips presser because I only watched the Flores one because who cares about West Phillips? But so I I I don’t know if he brought this up by himself or if he if he was asked point blank about Max Brosmer, but I feel like for a quarterback three, you know, there’s not a lot of teams around the league that even have confidence as a quarterback too. I honestly feel if Brosmer had to get thrown into the fire like he almost did against the Browns that he would be fine. you know, where you know, preseason his numbers were sort of whatever, but you saw the traits. You saw the poise, you saw the confidence in in the huddle, you saw the command of the line of scrimmage, you saw getting rid of the ball quickly, which is something that needs to happen, especially when the offensive line has been a little bit shaky. And I just feel in my bones that Max Brosmer will be either a starter somewhere or a at minimum at minimum a high-end backup quarterback too for a decade plus and there is lots of utility with that but I know probably won’t be here. Although if if it’s JJ McCarthy and Max Bromer long time like a Pton Manning Jim Sorggy situation I won’t be mad at it. Yeah. Also, uh, so Ben Gestling, you know, dip a piece talked about JJ McCarthy and his development. Now, people don’t want to hear this. That’s true. Uh, four current playoff teams, including the top seasons in the AFC and NFC, have quarterbacks who were drafted high, let go, and found success with new teams. It’s a reminder that quarterback development takes years, not weeks, as the Vikings work with JJ McCarthy. I I I just think it’s so obtuse and asinine for people to be like, “Oh, JJ McCarthy, he played eight quarters and played seven bad quarters.” So obviously he doesn’t have it without even factoring in the offensive line combinations. No Darasaw, no Addison, Kevin McConnell had his head up his ass the first couple of games. None of that factors in. I No, I feel like it’s just a carryover. If you hated the McCarthy pick, you were going to and moone about it all last year. You got pissimone about about this year, too. And the first time you get a sliver of evidence that that backs up your bias. Oh, and I understand I’m the other way too because I believe in JJ McCarthy. I always have believed in him. And you’re looking at that furious fourth quarter drive against the Bears. Ho, you only played one good quarter out eight. It’s a pretty damn important quarter. Yeah. And also, let’s not forget that it was a one-sor game against the Falcons. Vikings got the ball back. Then Brian O’Neal was just like, “Olay with the pass rusher causes a strip sack.” So, yeah. Uh but you know Gson brings up a good point. It does take years uh to develop a a quarterback. And I know we live in an instant gratification microwave society now now now now where if a quarterback in his well what’s going to be his third career start doesn’t look like a allpro bust boo. Uh Dan Bugler. Uh speaking of this most completions 20 plus yards in the NFL since the start of the 2024 season. 86 M Darl A2 Baker Mayfield 79 Jarro Goof uh from top draft picks to bust casu explosive playmakers. Now you could say that Jared Goof was I don’t know if you call him a bust. He was the number one overall pick. The Rams essentially gave up on him and sent him to Detroit for Matthew Stafford. But I mean the Rams did go to a Super Bowl with Jared Goof. You know lost to Brian Flores and the Patriots. Nah. Uh but uh Goof former number one pick. Baker Mayfield former number one pick with the Browns. Sam Darnold, former number three pick with the Jets. Don’t you think that those teams would want their quarterbacks back? Maybe not the Rams, but you look at Baker, you look at Sam Darnold, you look at Daniel Jones with the Giants, where you find all these quarterbacks finding success elsewhere when they’ve had some experience, when they have a coaching staff that believes in him. And I I see the same thing happening with JJ McCarthy because if you know if the Jabron fans get their way and JJ McCarthy is run out of town, I would 100% believe that he would be successful elsewhere. Just the kids mentality, all the talent is there. He’s only 22 years young and you know he only had two year two full years starting experience at Michigan. So, this is going to take some time and I I do feel like once he gets his feet wet, once he gets acclimated to the NFL game, he will be a legitimate superstar. All right, but people don’t want to hear that. And honestly, if you don’t want to take the time to develop a quarterback, when’s the last time the Vikings did that and developed a quarterback in-house? Dante, sure. Uh Tommy Kramer, sure. Uh but other than that, just a an absolute gong show of middling veteran quarterbacks of Gus Farat, Matt Castle, Donovan McNab, uh Brett Favre, he was good for a year, 2010, not so much, right? But you know, Carson Wentz, now Keenum. Do do you want to keep continually churning and burning just the the retreads over and over and over and over again? And sometimes you get a higherend one in Kurt Cousins, but still didn’t get it done. All right. Or do you want to take a chance to to develop your own guy that can lead you to a dozen Jordan bargains in the next 10 years? That’s what McCarthy could be, right? Say could. Well, I don’t know if you will. Well, there’s only one way to find out. Otherwise, guess what? If the Vikings I I’ll say this, put it square on the table. If the Vikings cup with JJ McCarthy, he will win a Super Bowl with another team as a starting quarterback. 100%. 100%. Don’t Don’t bet against this kid. All right. Also, uh, Kevin Seafford, ESPN, who’s not Cargo Schmidt. Could Blake Brandle find a home at center after spending his NFL career at Garden Tackle? Notable that Vikings OC West said, “The way Blake handled this game, the Browns game, his first career start at center.” I think we might be looking at a situation where this could be his best position of all five across the line. And it’s not really hyperbole where you look at the Vikings offensive line room. Jurgens is working back into practice coming off that hamstring, the backup center. Brian O’Neal’s working his way back as well. Say O’Neal gets back. Would you rather have Jurgens or Brandle? Now, I I do like Jurgens. He does need some time, but Brle is the veteran that you trust. So, the starting five could be Darasaw Jackson back from wrist surgery. Blake Brle will fry Brian O’Neal. certainly could be the situation till Ryan Kelly if he returns from injured reserve from that uh from that other concussion. Don’t know but you props to Brandle. Also the the Vikings role of center of the future is up in the air and it it would be hilarious if Brle’s true position is center and he goes on to be a top 10 adjacent type center where he was just a middling backup uh at guard and tackle. It’s funny man. Also, something that’s not funny is that the Vikings should be buyers at the NFL trade deadline. Now, I I know there’s been some pieces about the Vikings trading. Oh, trade Addison. Oh, trade Harrave. Oh, make some moves. Da da da. But no, Vikings should be buying at the deadline. Now, TBD who’s available, but honestly, Jeffrey Simmons, Quinnon Williams, sexy Dexi Lawrence probably is going to be stuck in New York. It is what it is. Just really swing for the fences. Just go for it. Jack, Jackson, Powers, Johnson, JPJ one time where the Vikings are flush with draft picks, especially when you factor in competitor picks next year. But they have a chance now. They have a chance now getting healthy at the right time, especially in the trenches, especially along the offensive line, they’re going to be good to go. Speaking of good to go, so NFL MVP odds right now, how is Mahomes the favorite for MVP? Like I know that the Chiefs are suddenly resurgent because congratulations to beat the Lions, but I I I know that Mahomes is a oneman show, but come on. This is probably a pricing because, you know, a lot of people see Mahomes as a name brand and just want to jump on at any price. Could be it. Josh Allen plus 300. I don’t know. After that Bills game or that Falcons game, I don’t know. You got Baker, you got Stafford, you got Goof, you got Drake May. Drake May at 10 to one. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. So, right now, I would put a couple of jelly beans on Baker. I would put a couple on Sam Darnold. I would put a couple on Daniel Jones because remember, it’s a regular season award. So, Sam Darnold could be hot right now at plus 5,000. You know what’s crazy, too? So, Christian McCaffrey has basically been single-handedly dragging the 49ers to relevancy. He’s 150 to1, same odds as Tua. Tua. Nah. Nah, the NFL MVP award is broken. It’s just a quarterback award. You know, the fact that the fact that Justin Jefferson has been the only finalist as a wide receiver ever and there’s been great wide receiver seasons like Jamar Chase won the Triple Crown last year, a couple years before that. Uh um Cooper Cup won the Triple Crown. I think he got one final vote. Just ridiculous. Ridiculous, man. They need to have a quarterback MVP. They need to have a running back MVP award. Now I I or a non-quarterback MVP award. So running backs, wide receivers, everyone everyone else involved there. And I I know. Well, that’s what offensive player of the year is for. No. No. There’s a difference between saying that you’re an NFL MVP versus offensive player of the year. So yeah. Also, so I kind of like this from Sog Football. I I I like these the these mills where they just get interactions and stuff. And a lot of times these rankings will be purposely bad so that people interact with them. Oh, this is bad. This is terrible. This is actually pretty okay. Best quarterbacks going into week six. Oh, probably not week seven. Yeah. Uh but top tier, tier one, uh Derek Stingley. Yes. Certain Quinnon Mitchell who potentially could be injured and could be missing the Vikings game. Gonzo, Trent McDuffy. I think that’s fair. You know, second tier, Cooper Dejon also banged up. Adenzo Ward, who the Vikings just dunked on at specifically Addison. JC Horn. Yes. Sauce. Viking. Will Johnson. So, I feel like a lot of people overthought the Will Johnson knee. Travverarious Ward who got knocked out pregame. The hell is happening, man? But third tier, you got Isaiah Rogers. Rogers. Murf is fourth tier. So, I disagree with the rankings. Honestly, I feel like Isaiah Rogers should be second tier at least. Murf should be third tier. Uh, and with Rogers, it’s been more than just those two touchdowns and two forced fumbles against the Bengals. Like, he’s been a rock solid lock down corner all season long. So, I feel like he should definitely be getting his flowers in the situation. And Murf, Murf’s just been rock solid, man. I love to see that. Something you do love to see. So, I actually like Greg Olsen. Initially, I did not because when he was calling games while he was a player, I I don’t like that he got access to the Vikings before the Panthers played the Vikings a little bit later in the season. I didn’t like that. Uh Alec said like Adam Amin, Greg Olsen, and Pam Oliver are on call this weekend for Vikings Eagles on Fox. Positive news. Now Olsen’s really good in don’t want to say dumbing down but explaining and playing language you know some highle football concepts which you know that’s what made John Madden so good where he was able to break down complicated things but he didn’t come across where he made you feel stupid and you know Greg thirdle leg rag like he’s one of us you know I mean who among us haven’t been in a rap video I don’t know I don’t know but also Olsson definitely got a bad I mean he got he got screwed over when Brady came aboard. I I know that Fox put all the money into Brady and he took over the number one color spot, but I mean Olsson Olsson was a good player. Wasn’t in a household name though, but he worked his ass off to climb the ladder and be be where he’s at. And they just got knocked down because Tom Brady had name and Tom Brady he’s gotten better, but I I still don’t think that he’s a good analyst at all. Now what should happen? Amazon, Al Michaels, Herb Street, Herby’s fine, but he’s much better as a college guy. Um, Amazon should throw all of their money at Greg Olsen. They should. All right. Kevin Harland, Greg Olsen. That’s what Amazon should be. Let’s go, baby. Let’s go. Let’s go. Also, I I like Adam Amin because I I like his cadence. I I like that he lets moments breathe as well. Plus, uh, his name reminds me of Khid Alamine, the point guard of Minneapolis North. Go Polers. Yukon. Should have been a gopher, but it is what it is. National champs cuz I Who’s on that team? Rip Hamilton. Khaled Alamine. Jake Voscll the center. I don’t know. I don’t know, man. But uh at least not Jonathan Vilma because I would have to drink bleach. Yeah. Lastly, all right. So, this is not football related at all, but I just need to vent about this. So the the wife got me this ancestry or 23 and me or whatever it is like a bunch of years ago and spit in the tube, mailed it in to a a corporation that’s totally not selling my DNA to government entities, but just tin foil hat. Uh but I found out I’m basically threequarters Japanese and a quarter Korean. And I I thought I felt in my bones that I was going to find like a longlost twin. That’d be great. Oh, I’m adopted. Or uh so I I thought I was going to find like a long-lost twin or family members that were also adopted as they get choked up and die. Uh or I kind of felt this too. Kim Jong-un, he also did 23 of me that just decided to spit into a tube and mail it in. Right. I find out that I’m actually Kim Jong-un’s like younger brother. And then the CIA scoops me up and we go and we overthrow the North Korean government in a coup. Install a pro-western government and I’m the king. I’m the king. We would have to get highspeed internet and satellite to get red zone every week. Or hell, I feel like well, first off, we’re going to feed the people. Second of all, we’re going to open things up. And third of all, I’m the king. I don’t know. Mo most of my dreams and aspirations since I’ve been like 13 14 was probably being part of a ahead of a CIA CIA le coup. Just want to be part of a coup. I think that would be cool. Anyways, I don’t know what we accomplished today. Uh the Vikings will back up practice. Kevin Con will speak to the media. Both quarterbacks are going to speak to the media. Great. Uh as well as um we’ll see. We’ll get first injury reports. see what the quarterback situation is going to be. I don’t know. So, you guys are the best. You know what to do. Skull production value.

  1. No disrespect but I get he didn’t play all the games as the other qbs in his class but to me he just didn’t pass the eye test like Daniel’s Williams’s or penix at best he the Ryan tanahill of the class

  2. Goooood morning Jeromes! Plenty of points from me…but will be worth reading!
    1. Andy, I'd support your takeover of N Korea, but only IF it allowed you to do even more Vikings' content AND you used your riches to buy premium Vikes season tickets for your most ardent Jeromes.😁
    2. Prediction: Once MVP voting begins, Aaron Rogers' agent will 'leak' rumours of Rogers' impending retirement, just to increase pro-Rogers sentiment.🤔
    3. KOC should have Brosmer do the Wednesday presser, just to mess with EVERYONE! 😜
    4. This may seem to go against the grain for me, however – in addition to Daniel Jones – I would put Dak Prescott on the 1st-half-season short-list for MVP. I'm a fan of football first & foremost, so kudos goes to those who deserve it, and Prescott has been a key reason the Cowboy's offence has succeeded.👍
    5. During Wes Phillips' engaging presser, he mentioned that Brandel has taken a lot of snaps at Centre over the last few years. So, it seems that Brandel was familiar with the demands of the position, calling out protection schemes, etc. I have a hunch that his fundamental 'football accumen' & his wealth of game experience at other positions made it much easier for him to replicate those practice sessions, while in the heat of battle against a very talented Browns D-line.👍
    6. Sadly, Ben Geossling's take on QB development is diametrically opposed to the attitudes & reactions promoted by the vast majority of mainstream national sports media & many 'independent' social media gurus. 🙄
    7. I agree 100% re Greg Olsen, both as a colour commentator & player. And, yes, Amin is good. FWIW, Amin's timing/phrasing (but not accent) reminds me of the great Marv Albert, and now, his son Kenny.
    SKOL!!!

  3. It depends if the owners want Wentz or McCarthy. Playing McCarthy and not making the playoffs this year would be like throwing the season in the trash. On the other hand, would the owners be happy by playing Wentz and making the playoffs just to make the playoffs? Let them decide!

  4. Most of us are not anti JJ we're just not ready to call him an MVP and a Hall of Famer with 2 games and 1 good quarter under his belt. Overhype leads to disappointment and Vikings fans know what this feels like.
And the Vikings better keep Brosmer on the roster next year.

  5. Let these jackals think what they think. It's what they get paid for, to guess. That's it. Guess.
Go with JJ if healthy, go with Carson, if he's 100 %, if not, go with Max. Done.

  6. The early successes of Mahomes and Daniels made EVERY fans believe that young QB should perform like those two in their first year as a starter. So when JJ isn't performing like those two, some fans are already saying he's a bust. 🙄 It takes time for young QB to turn into a real pro. I know it's been a long time but does anyone remember how bad both Rodgers and Payten Manning looked in their first year as a starter?
