Milwaukee Brewers Offense DISAPPEARS just when they need it most | Will They Fire Back in LA?
All this amazing energy the 2025 Milwaukee Brewers had the 97 win 2025 Milwaukee Brewers. Where has it all gone? You are Locked On Brewers, your daily Milwaukee Brewers podcast, part of the Locked On podcast network. Your team every day. It’s been a disappointing last two days. Hey everybody, Chuck Freeman, Lockdown Brewers, longtime sports cer, proud host of Lockdown Brewers. Not proud of what we’ve seen here the last two days. Doesn’t at all lessen my my fandom in the Milwaukee Brewers and the team I cover. Good to have you along here. This episode brought to you by Game Time. Download the Game Time app, create an account, use the promo code lockdown MLB, you’ll get 20 bucks off your first purchase. Coming up here on the show, yeah, where is the 2025 Milwaukee Brewers? all this all these great things these guys did all season long. We’ll talk about that coming up because that that team that we’ve seen the last two days. I don’t know who that was. Christian Yelich, he’s at the center of it all. Not only can he not buy a hit, but he can’t even buy a hard hit ball. And can the Brewers bring this back home for a game six at least coming up on Monday? Have a long way to go between now and then. the magic, the walk-offs. They had 11 of them at Anfam Field this year. Late innings, the always knowing that this team could come back and make it a game, taking advantage of mistakes, the clutch hits, the comebacks. Where has this all gone? Where has this gone with this team? The last two nights, the Brewers pitcher, the Brewers hitters have watched Yamamoto and Snell take up 17 of a possible 18 innings and just lay the wood. And I don’t want to hear right now. I don’t want to talk about big market, small market stuff. Yeah, it’ll be time for that. You know, this nonsense about uh well, the this series will hinge a lot on future labor talks. I don’t even want to get into that right now. And the big money that the Dodgers are paying for their starting pitchers. I get all that. A media member after the game as it was riding down the elevator, a disappointed locker locker room. And I’m riding down to the uh elevator down to the locker room says, “Chuck, what did you expect? They got to the NLCS. What more do you want?” That’s the last thing I want to hear. I mean, is that our expectations? Well, hey, we got to the NLCS. Oh, that’s right. We finally won a playoff series for the first time in 20 in 2018. Is that good enough? No, that’s not good enough. Hey, they’re one of the final four teams left. Look how many teams are sitting home. BS to that. We got no championships for this franchise. And that’s it’s embarrassing that there’s only one World Series appearance and that was 1982 when most of you weren’t even born or even had any clue about who the Milwaukee Brewers were at that point. And I’m talking about people in their 40s right now, right? But this Milwaukee Brewer team won 97 games during the regular season. And this is the way they’re going to go out. weak tappers to second base getting thrown out on the base pads, getting picked off on the few guys that do get on base. But I mean, there’s just no fight there. I mean, this is a team that I’ve said all along, hey, what? They were down three runs. No problem for the Milwaukee Brewers. Now a one-run deficit seems insurmountable when he hit the home run to make it three to one. I mean I I I kept thinking, hey, they have a comeback in them. But as I’m watching batter after batter going up and just meandering their way maybe Yamato is Yamato is he that good? The Brewers crushed him in the regular season. Snell the night before. Yeah, the Brewers went six and0 against the Dodgers. Are the Dodgers just saying right now, guys, you had your fun in the regular season. Your pretty 97 win record. It’s now the spotlight is on. It’s our turn, guys. And the Dodgers are turning it on. We did not see this during the regular season. The Brewers play so hard in the regular season and that’s how they got the 97 wins. They out hustle teams. They outthink teams. They their high baseball IQ. They play harder, I really believe, than any team in baseball. Are they petering it out right now? Are they petering it out? I I I don’t think it’s because of a lack of effort. Well, what’s going on here? I I mean, are they are these Yamamoto? Is he that good? The splitter was working, but where they can’t even touch the guy Blake Snell. I mean, these guys, do you look at these guys is just, oh my god, we’re facing Yamamoto tonight. Oh no, Blake Snell. I mean, Blake Snell’s good. Okay, but come on. and these at bats. What happened to that Brewers team that would hire a pitcher out and just pucker out the other team? 10, 11, 12 pitch at bats. We’re flailing away up there. Our guys flailing away. Terrible at bats. Worst two days. You’re not going to find a worse two days in probably in baseball history in playoff baseball history than the one the Brewers just had offensively. One runner in scoring position. One runner in scoring position in two games. They’ve had one at bat with a runner in scoring position in two games. That’s unheard of. Brewers had no runners left on base in game one until they stred the bases loaded to finish off the game in game one. Yeah, the Brewers play hard. They they gave it their all in their regular season. Built up that night’s 97 win season. Were fortunate to take Chicago on Saturday night. And I thought, okay, I mean, it wasn’t a great offensive performance, but they had three home runs. All right. And they come back here and just lay an egg. Now, this is what how many games now? Uh, five games in a row where the offense has just been not not good. They were fortunate to win Saturday, but the last two nights they’ve taken bad to a new level offensively. I feel like the guys they’re running out there and I mean these are the guys who’ve been doing it all year for them right the pitching I think has been great now I’m not getting on Peralta for giving up that home run the Miy and you know he there was rumblings that you know that he talked Murphy into letting him pitch another inning but come on let’s score some runs this is I think the pitching has been great for the Brewers well very good all right I I thought Peralta was fine. He He was good enough to win this game. All right. Good enough to win this game. And if the Brewers produce any runs, they had to bring in Urebe in in the sixth inning. That’s how desperate the Brewers were. They were bringing in one of their backend guys in the sixth inning. That’s where they were at this point. Bringing in Yuri Yuri’s had to pitch multiple innings a couple of times. Now, Ashby’s arm’s going to fall off. They’ve used him six of the last seven games, and that’s another concern. I believe the Brewers have the pitching has been fine, but man, every game we’re going out there and exhausted that bullpen. Meanwhile, the offense is doing this bullpen and this pitching no harm or no help, plenty of harm because they’re not help they’re not hitting. And Murphy even said the other day, we’re going out there with one and a half starters. Peralta, the only guy they can count on. And Prister, I guess Kintana doesn’t exist anymore. But I’m not I’m not here to talk about the pitching. I’m talking about the the just the pathetic offense. Pix and0 versus the Dodgers of the regular season. hard-fought games. We went up to Freddy Peralta after the game today. Freddy went six and0 against the Dodgers. You know what he said? It’s not the same. And he’s right. He said what all of us were thinking, right? It’s it’s not the same. Yep. It wasn’t the same. I guess the regular season isn’t the same, right? So when the Dodgers sweep get swept by the Pirates or sleepwalk and let look as bad as they did this season during the regular season. The Brewers took six from them. I guess they’re laughing now, aren’t they? I’m not saying the series is over, but as Murf said, 90% of the teams that get up 20 go on and win the series. And that’s true. We’ll talk a little bit later on. Can the Brewers bring it back home? They’d have to win two or three in Los Angeles. But at the center of the Brewers problem is Christian Yelich. I I can’t figure it out. But Christian Yellish has reverted back to what we saw several times in the past five or six years, not including this year. I thought we passed that, but he’s in a horrendous I mean horrendous slump. We’ll get to that next here on Locked On Brewers. Locked on Brewers, part of Lockdown Podcast Network. We are your team every day. Game time. Nothing like catching a live game in person. Well, if you’re out there the last couple of nights, maybe. I’m going to get to that in a second. I said I was going to do tonight’s show from the stadium. Last night I did it from the stadium. I’ve been doing it from the stadium. I was just so disgusted. I wanted to get out of there. It’s been a long two days at the at the ballpark there seeing some horrendous baseball. And you fans out there who’ve paid for that and may have paid overpaid for some tickets. I am sorry. The Brewers should be the ones should be apologizing. And I know some of you guys are coming at me and saying, “Freeman, I thought we were going to get the Yamamato.” Guys, don’t blame me. I mean, what am I going to say? We have no shot against Yamato. I mean, the Brewers have had a history against him. They they they crushed him earlier this year. He couldn’t make it out of the first inning. And I know the I told you souls are out there already. See, I told you. And that comes along with being a Brewers fan, right? Because we’ve been kicked kicked so many times in the groin, right? And throw this in the pile. I am talking like the series is over. But I’m just so disgusted right now. I am. I I’m I feel like I I feel like I was a year ago because all season long I’ve been throwing these guys bouquets and talking how great they were. And what a season. What a wonderful team this is, man. Beautiful. Another walk-off win. Up, down two runs, down three runs going in the bottom of the ninth inning. I hope you all had the live line because you know when they are plus 600, they’re going to come back and win. And sure enough, down five runs against the Mets, no problem. Down eight to one against the Reds. No problem. Down two to one against the Dodgers. Problem. Cheerio hits that leadoff home run and I’m thinking, fantastic. Here we go. There was one hard hit ball the rest of the night. That was a line out by Cheerio. But Christian Yelich, Christian Yelich is a problem for the Brewers right now. He’s 0 for 18. 0 for his last 18. Oh, I’m Wait. Over his last 17. He is 11 ground outs in there. 11 ground outs over for 17 strikeouts in there. And Christian has not been good in the postseason. Forever. Forever. He has not been good in the per I think his first couple of games back in 2018 he was a bit productive but since then bad. Yell is uh he’s got zero RBI’s since the 20 late the 2018 playoffs. Zero RBI since then. That’s pathetic. Now, he didn’t play last year in the postseason cuz he had he had the back surgery, but man, this summer he looked great. I mean, is he tiring? Is the back tiring? Weak tap the weak tappers. The second base. Thought we seen the last of those. Yelli turned around his season earlier in the summer. hit that grand slam player of the week and he just took off and he led this team. He was one of the reason the huge reason why this team won 97 games because you needed production in the heart of the lineup and Yelli finally gave it to you. For years they had been lacking production in the middle of the lineup and Yelli had given him this summer. now whether he’s batting lead off or cleanup or wherever he is batting in the third hole in this postseason just terrible terrible hasn’t had a a hit since uh he doubled in Chicago to lead off game four I want to say he doubled down the first base line since then I think that was game three been terrible 11 weak ground outs Nothing hard hit. Nothing. I don’t know if the back is bothering him. We interviewed him after the game today. You know, he’s not one of those guys who’s a rahrh guy and going to be breaking tables and all that like I might be doing. Like I’m I mean I want to break like 15 bobbleheads in this in this studio here. I still may after the end of the show here. That’s how frustrated. I thought maybe the drive home would cool me off, but I got to start doing this podcast again. And I’m I’m just as ticked off as I was when I left the ballpark today. Pat Murphy is not giving up on these guys. He says says, “I know we’re down 02, but I wouldn’t put it back to these guys to bring it back here. I know Murphy’s got to say that. He’s had his guy that’s that’s Murphy’s thing. He’s got his guys back all the time and that’s great. That’s great. But Christian Yell just has got to start hitting if this team at least Well, you can’t get swept. You can’t get swept. You got to go down fighting, right? I mean, I would be absolutely it would be absolutely embarrassing for this team to go to Los Angeles and run into glass now and uh show the projected pitchers for three and four and have the same two type of outings you had the last two nights. You can’t get swept in a series. If you’re going to lose, you got to go down with a fight. You got I want to see this. I mean, you lose a 10-9 game or whatever, at least you went down fighting. Feel like the last two nights they threw up their arms. Those two losses at Chicago, worthless outings, worthless offensive performances. These two just absolutely pathetic performances. So, if they’re going to lose, it’s not worth anything. But at least let’s let’s show a little effort. Well, I mean, the effort is there. The effort is there, but the the the at bats. Can we get back to working the count and not be such an easy out up out there? And that’s what I mean, these are quick innings, terrible innings. That’s why Yamamoto Yamamoto, he went old school tonight and pitched a a complete game. First time a Dodger pitcher has done that since 2004. Joseé Lima Yamamoto went the complete game route. That shows you just how I mean Snell last night had 103 pitches. He could have pitched the ninth. He could have pitched the ninth. When you guys when you have a starting pitcher pitch a complete game, that just shows you you are not working the counts and you are having just terrible at bats up there. Put these guys on the ropes. Just get to the Dodger bullpen. The Dodger bullpen is terrible. The Dodger bullpen stinks. Except for Suzaki. And he was terrible the other night. They got him out of there. Pit the Blake trying and some of those guys out there. They’re not any good. Dave Roberts has got to be just loving the fact that he got two starts the way he did and didn’t have to rely on his heavy B his lousy bullpen. He’s got a rested bullpen, one that’s terrible going into three and four. He’s in a great spot. So, you got two starts of Yamamoto and Snell sucking up 17 of the possible 18 innings. That’s a manager’s dream right there. Especially one who’s got a bad bullpen like he has. I mean, that’s what I thought this team was going to do, this Brewers team. Work the work do what you did all year long. Work the counts. They were chasing on Snell yesterday or in game one. That’s how Snell makes his money. getting guys to chase. And that’s what the Brewers haven’t done all year long, chase. But they were chasing. They were chasing him. And they did it again tonight with Yamamato. Yamamoto. All right. Can the Brewers bring this back to Milwaukee? Is there any fight left in these guys? Talk about that next coming up here on Lockdown Brewers. Lockdown Brewers part of lockdown podcast network. And you know, I don’t want to see any criticism to Brewers fans. I saw some of that Brewers fans were just sitting on their hands all night. Well, you know what, Brewer? A fan is reactionary, right? You are reactionary to the listless play or the exciting play on the field because we’ve seen that place rocking plenty times and that’s when the action has been exciting. It’s up to the the team to provide some excitement. These fans have done great. I I don’t want to hear any criticism. Well, the fans have been sitting on their fans on their hands the last two nights. Well, you know why? Because the offense has been absolutely putrid. That’s why these fans, I don’t want to hear any criticism of the fans. Not by the fans, not by any opposing fans, anybody. I saw one tweet from a Dodger. The Brewer fans are terrible. They’re so quiet. Well, the offense has been terrible. That’s why. So, I’m not Don’t blame the fans at all. And by the way, I got off track there. Get get me on YouTube as well. Our growing YouTube page. Search Lockdown Brewer Studio. Uh Lockdown Brewers on YouTube. You get into our Lockdown Brewer studio. I’ll be out in Los Angeles taking like a 12-h hour flight out to Los Angeles, which I’m not looking forward to. Layovers all across the board. Going to spend the day flying tomorrow, which is great. On Wednesday, that is. I I’m doing this podcast late, let’s see, where are we? Tuesday late Tuesday night. Well, it’s actually early Wednesday morning at this point. Early Wednesday morning to me is still Tuesday night. Do the Brewers have enough to bring it back here on Monday for an afternoon game. Got to take two or three. I feel like they can. I am not as as disappointing and as low as I am right now as a Brewers fan in the postseason playing handball with a curb. I feel like they can go out there and take to a three. But now, yeah, if I said game two was critical, you can’t get down 03. We all know that, especially against that team. You can’t get down 03 to put these guys reeling at all. Yeah, you got to come back and win Thursday at 5:08 East uh Central time. You got to come back and win that game. You don’t win that game. Yeah, I’m sorry. You’re not coming back down 03 against anybody. Whether it’s the Pirates or the Dodgers, you’re not coming back from an 03 deficit. Somebody said to me tonight, “The Brewers look so good against the Pirates. You know, this is a real team they’re facing.” Well, the Brewers, they had like a weren’t they like 25 and six against the division champions this year, right? I I think when he stuck they had a winning record against the Phillies, right? Winning record against every division division champion. Okay. So, yeah, their opponent wasn’t the Phillies or wasn’t the Pirates, but the Brewers did go six and0, but as Freddy said, it’s not the same. It’s not the same. Not the same as the postseason. So yeah, I do think the Brewers can bring this back to Milwaukee, but you got to win Thursday. Obviously, if you don’t down 03, we’re going to start talking about next year. I don’t feel like talking about next year. We’ve come too far with this team, man. This team has been a summer full of entertainment, exciting, and all that. I don’t want to see it end this way. I don’t want to go out with a whimper and I feel like we we’re halfway there at this point because we’ve had two games where we are whimpering in these first two games. Going to face Glass now on Thursday, Otani on Friday. Lord knows who the Brewers are bringing back in game one on Thursday and Friday. When your manager says we only have a starter and a half, who knows? Start McGill again. All right. Throw can’t throw Ashby out there again, right? I mean, I don’t know. It’s anybody’s guess who they’re going to start on Thursday. But we do know it’s going to be Glass Now and Otani. So, I’d rather place Glass now than Otani in game three. Quite frankly, I mean, Otani, he’s just he’s having a terrible series. Although of course one for 23 and then he hits that base hit on a drawn in infield against the left-hander, but we weren’t going to win that game anyway. Curio hits the first inning home run on the first pitch of the game and they don’t score again. Don’t even get a rally going. One runner in scoring position and one at bat through two games. That is flat out pathetic. And there is no sugar coating that. Tell it like it is, buddy. I tell you, all season long, when this team is good, it’s good. But they’re going to be bad. Hey, I’m going to be I’m going to be on these guys. All right? I’m not going to sugarcoat anything with you guys. And thanks for everybody for coming up. Everybody came out to be all night long tonight when I was going getting something to eat at the concession stand or whatever, walking through the ballpark. Man, I love talking to you Brewer fans and meeting you guys and you guys listening to Lockdown Brewers and viewing this. Thanks a lot, man. And this this season, I want it for you guys. I want it for you guys because you guys are paying your hardearned money, investing your time, buying the merchandise. The merchandise stores were jam-packed today. These guys got to show an effort for you guys. But I I just want to say, man, I appreciate all you guys running in all you guys the last two nights. Dozens and dozens and dozens of lockdown brewers followers and people on this show. And it just makes me feel good. It’s why here I am. 2:26 in the middle of the night. 2:26 a.m. doing a podcast because I I hear a guy from Thor County telling me, “Chuck, we’ll be listening to you tomorrow. We’re driving back home. We got you on at 6:00 a.m. in the morning.” And that’s what makes this all the worth the while. All right, guys. We’ll talk to you from Los Angeles hopefully after a win on Thursday afternoon. It’s going to do it. Locked on Brewers, part of Locked On Network. We are your teammate every day. Thanks for making us your first listen to all you everydayers out there, all you guys ran into. My name is Chuck Freeman. We’ll talk to you all from Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium on Thursday.

Thank You Chuck for all you do! LET'S GO CREW!
Brewers haven't got a chance to play their game yet. Start simple. Get a hit. Get on base. Score a run. Score a few more runs. Win a game. Go from there.
They aren't out of this yet. Got a very tough challenge that's going to take place. Just get a win and go from there. Go Brewers too!
The brewers losses are more a combination of things rather than any one thing in particular. Dodgers are peaking at the right time. They were banged up when the brewers swept them midseason. now they are healthy and firing on all cylinders. Secondly, the brewers were one of the most disciplined teams at the plate all season; not chasing pitches or striking out. They've lost that discipline in the playoffs, even against the cubs in games 3-4 there were some pretty pathetic at bats waving haphazardly at pitches. Brewers had an incredible summer sandwiched between a rough start and finish to the season. Injuries to key starters and relievers definitely have played a factor during the beginning and end of the season, but the clutch and consistency of the offense disappeared as well. Dodgers are a very complete team and i didn't expect to beat them, but i wanna see us win a game or two if nothing else.
the brewers are done they are not coming back you ‘re lucky we did’nt score more runs but we will in Los Angeles
Even Amy Williams couldn't distract the Dodgers.
Freimund represents the foggy mindset in Milwaukee. Brewers beat the Cubs in five. Cubs were without their #1 & #2 starters. Dodgers are all about pitching. Surprised?
Hhahahaha Thank You Dodgers!!! Soon making that L Flag photoshoot Meme😂😂😂😂😂
Dodger fans have felt just as much pain over the years. We had best record in MLB a few years ago and we still got bounced in NLDS. In late 1990's and early 2010's, we'd get to the playoffs only to be shutdown by Braves and Cardinals pitching staffs. Very frustrating.
It’s not horrendous baseball. During the season you’re getting 4 and 5th starters in a rotation against teams that suck. Yamamoto and Snell were in the zone, it was incredible pitching, not horrible hitting. Could they have hit better, yes, but that level of pitching is going to shut down hitting.
This guy asking “is Yamamoto really that good?” Dude that’s embarrassing for a guy that watches baseball. If you don’t understand, watch pitching Ninja. Yes Yamamoto is really that good.
The manager, reporters, fans in Milwaukee….all they could talk about was David v Goliath, average Joe’s, big money. The mentality given to the players by their own manager before the first pitch was thrown was they would have to be lucky to beat these guys, and they were outmatched. Loser mentality.
You keep saying work the count…look at the pitch mix…they were throwing 70% strikes, once a hitter goes down 1-2 or 0-2, you get them to chase. It was incredible pitching…..way more than lousy hitting.
The Brewers Magic Carpet Ride is over. They've been overacting for long enough. They were around a 85 win team. Only got to 97 because of a couple miracle winning streaks. Its a mediocre team at best.
I’m sorry but either you need better internet or a better camera
The Dodgers are built for October. I see a sweep all the way to the Championship. Remember the Dodgers were also swept by the Angels….means nothing. Phillies Dodgers WAS the NLCS
Yeah your 3,4,and 5 hitters go 0 for 12
This is where the inexperience in winning from the brewers fans comes in. You think just because you had a “pretty” 97 win season and were the number 1 spot means you’re automatically built to win in the playoffs? What you did to the dodgers in the regular season means nothing. Remember to always stay humble
The Dodgers are a dominent team because of their money. I'm sick of hearing about a team like that? They're fake like Hollywood and Los Angeles itself. Fake city fake team. There's no reason a team should be in the post season as many times in a row as The Dodgers unless something was up? Something's up people so quit getting all gaga gaga about them? frankny
Getting dominated on the mound will make a team look bad and like they dgaf
“Uhhh… are Snell and Yamamoto really that good?”
“Uhhh… do Brewers podcast dorks always drink this much before 7am?”
Nigga a casual stop saying “regualr season” this playoffs buddy
Chucks not motivated to fly out to L.A to see this lifeless brewers team play sh$t baseball. All the wind has been taken out of the sail. He has to put on that brave face and say brewers can win out there, but he knows they don' t have a snowballs chance in hell of doing that. Its good to see scabbed over, jaded, pissed off Chuck again though😂 40 plus years of misery with this team.
Yeah. You smacked Yamamoto around earlier in the year. Guess what? He adjusted. Dodgers tend to adjust for the postseason. 💙🤍
By the way, you can still go down fighting….and still get swept.
I wish the talking heads would point out that the Dodgers in 2022 and 2023 had 105+ win record and top payroll and lost in the divisional series.
Being swept 3-0 by the Diamondbacks and 4-1 by the Padres.
So STOP with the payroll nonsense!!!
The Dodgers have just come together as a team and has a well run organization.
What your team deserves fly the L!
So many salty scrubs fans in these comments. What time do the scrubs play tomorrow?? I’ll bring beers. Oh that’s right they don’t play until next year!! Fly the L and we’ll stay in your heads rent free!
Ignore the regular season records. The Dodgers were just coasting and resting their prime players for October. With the exception of Yamamoto, the rest of the roster was injured, resting, or both. They are all healthy and in a zone right now. I don't see anyone slowing them down right now. With all due respect to the Brewers, the Phillies was their toughest opponents this playoffs.
Mad?
Now that Yelich has had a decent season, maybe they can find a trade partner…
Chuck, if you think that Snell and Yama are just average or slightly above average SP then what does that say about MIL rotation? Peralta, Quintana, Priester and maybe Mis, seriously? You’re a true homer.
Regular season means nothing in the post season idk why you keep thinking that just cause they had the best record in the regular season it automatically makes them better than anyone else. I’ll say it again the best team in the regular season in baseball specifically doesn’t usually win the championship. Look up all the past winners and check their records. A majority don’t have the best record. The post season is a different intensity.
WAVE THE L FLAG
Wow, no respect? Do you forget who you're up against? Good luck, it's not over yet!
