Very strange tbf not often you get complete silence from the team regarding players unavailable however I trust there is a good reason and I hope the best for Josh and his situation

Jaylon Moore can hold it down for him, I know that if something was happening to my family and I had to rush home for it I’d also probably want it to be private

Them being mum isn’t surprising or interesting, because it’s not our business WHAT is going on (at least at this point since it’s only been a few days) but saying Veach is handling it is a bit interesting to me. Obviously, our GM handles many things, but I doubt a GM would be the main one handling this kind of situation if it was a short term matter.
Veach handles stuff like this pretty much regardless of what the situation is. I wouldn’t read anything into that.
If a player refuses to talk when prompted by the organization thats one thing, but when the GM and HC are both stayin zipped thats a tell tale sign for the rest of us to butt the fuck out.
If it was a legal issue, there would be public record people already would’ve located. It’s likely either family or health – no reason for anyone to be this invasive. Let private stuff be private.
The Chiefs make this work with ominous no comments. Something as simple as “we don’t anticipate him back for awhile” would stop the questions. If it was a game and a few practices it’s a non story. The longer it goes on the bigger story it becomes.
I’m getting more exhausted by the grandstanding by people on the issue than anything at this point. It’s reasonable to ask questions about it, and “it’s a personal matter” is a reasonable response. I don’t fault anyone for being curious.

Nate Taylor on their podcast today is making it sound like the team might not even know what’s going on with Josh Simmons.
Im surprised a big name reporter hasn’t gotten the scoop about what’s going on. He deserves his privacy 100% but the media being who they are i find it curious.

Guys the man has shown up and delivered better than anyone could expect from the 32nd pick. Let him deal with his family stuff and we will have the appropriate information at the appropriate time.
On the other hand it makes it a hell of a lot easier to be patient when Moore balled out this last week. This could be a blessing in disguise. My prediction is that Taylor is cut this off-season and Moore is extended as the starting RT. Also doubly good for Moore going out there and delivering on the day of his kids birth!

i really don’t care what’s going on i just want someone to say he WILL be back this season and this has nothing to do with him personally/mentally. this feels ominous and not good each day that goes by
People feeling owed a perfect explanation need to learn to separate their fandom from reality.
Truth is, he’s a star LT that fans have come to expect to play. Let’s not let that shade our expectations – would you be asking for the same explanations for Nikko Remigio? No, I doubt it would generate this much discourse.

I’m wondering if he tried to hurt himself or if he’s going through something mental like depression. Hopefully he didn’t try and hurt himself. Could just be a death in the family of a very close relative. Maybe that has spiraled him down to not even wanting to come back. I dunno but it’s very weird. Usually if there is a death in the family we’d have gotten some info on that by now.
I think this might be a mental health issue. Hopefully, he is doing okay, and whether it is that or something else, everything works out okay.
When my father died of cancer in 2020, it didn’t happen the day we took him to the hospital, he was sick and unconscious for 5 days before he eventually passed. And my mom stayed there the whole time every day expect when us kids could go to relieve her to eat and shower if she could. We were also there the last full 48hrs and didn’t leave.
24 hour news cycles are just as bad as cancer.

Josh Simmons works for the Chiefs not the media. The Chiefs said what happened, explained that there. Isn’t a set time for his return. There’s nothing more to ask about. I get that it’s their job to dig, but it also feels like they’re trying to infer that there might be something else going on.
I’m assuming someone close to him took their own life or something along those lines. If it was a family member with a health condition, I’m pretty sure we’d have heard something by now

The guy is gone, he’s with his family, it’s obviously where he feels he needs to be right now and at this point I wish the media would stop asking about it because it’s kind of beyond the point of normal reporting and verging on tabloid-esque invasiveness
I think … that what I think doesn’t matter in the least. I hope the young man takes care of things his way, in his time. When he’s ready to come back, do so with no regrets, because those can haunt you the rest of your life. In the end, we’re talking about playing a game, some things, many things, are more important.

It would probably be good for Simmons to share something. Great, the employer is respecting the privacy of the family, but the fan base wants to have some idea of when the guy might return and have some idea of why he had to miss the last game,
It feels like it’s clear Simmons left without telling the team to deal with a family emergency, so I’m guessing the team just feels like they’re stuck between a rock and hard place in terms of trying to respectful of what he’s going through but also knowing that players can’t go AWOL during the season, let alone on game day. That sort of feels like why Andy is reacting the way he is: they understand why he left but they just don’t like how he did it.
The way that is worded sounds like something negative. I don’t think the chances are likely, but hopefully it’s not something negative that Simmons did. We don’t need another player drama. Hope all is well in his family
The fact that they said Veach is “handling the situation” makes me think it’s something other than an ill or deceased family member. Not sure what he would have to handle. Whatever it is…I wish him the best.
I have no desire for any reporter to intrude on the Josh Simmons family while they’re going through whatever they’re going through right now.
