The Tennessee Titans Are FAILING Cam Ward
The first head coaching domino has fallen and no, it’s not a surprise. Brian Callahan has been fired by the Titans after just 23 games. The Titans have been and still are awful with or without a capable quarterback. It felt like Tennessee only got worse last season as the season went on. And if Tennessee wants Ward to be the answer at quarterback, he needs to actually be put in a good situation. Now, it’s crazy, but it does make four straight number one overall pick quarterbacks who have had their coach fired during their rookie season. Not that any of those guys have particularly gone on to be elite quarterbacks, but still, the Titans have been a laughingtock for a while now, and it’s hard to get out of the NFL basement. The two true keys to getting out are getting a competent head coach and a quarterback. And it’s safe to say that they saw enough about Callahan to know that he wasn’t the coach for the future. Cam Ward being in Tennessee makes it an interesting job for a new guy coming in. But with how fast the Titans are firing guys, it’s going to make it a less desirable job. Tennessee is firing general managers and head coaches like it’s nothing. And now Brian Callahan is just another name on that list before it inevitably happens to the next guy. But hey, at least Mike Bggoni still has his job for now. The final nail in the coffin for Brian Callahan in Tennessee was an embarrassing 20-10 loss to the Raiders on Sunday to drop to 1 and5. But that was just one of many embarrassing losses in the last 2 years. Callahan got hired in 2024 after the Titans decided to move on from Mike Vrabel. And clearly that was the right call. Vrabel has now won the same amount of games in 6 weeks as the Patriots head coach as Callahan has in 23 weeks. Not to mention that New England team looks like it might actually be good and gets to visit Tennessee next Sunday against an interim head coach. That will be the ultimate salt in the wound if the Patriots win the way that they should. Still though, it’s hard to blame the Titans for giving Callahan a shot. He was a good head coach candidate for a reason. He was previously the Bengals offensive coordinator and had a ton of success with a very talented offense led by Joe Burrow. Of course, it did help that the Bengals made it all the way to the Super Bowl, but ultimately lost to the Rams. Before that, he held quarterbacks coaching jobs and other offensive-minded jobs, and he was actually an offensive assistant with the Broncos when they beat the Panthers back in the Super Bowl. So, technically, he did win a Super Bowl. He’s a naturally offensive-minded guy considering he played quarterback at UCLA. And his dad, Bill Callahan, is also an offensive-minded guy. He was the head coach for the Raiders when they made the Super Bowl back in 2002. and then he was the head coach at Nebraska and even the interim for the Redskins in 2019. Most recently though, he left the Browns to come be the offensive line coach for his son. Now, I will say it is hard to completely blame Brian Callahan for all of the Titans shortcomings. He definitely didn’t inherit a good roster, especially at quarterback with Will Levvice, but even before he got there, Tennessee had won six games in 2023 and seven in 2022. That came after a stretch of six straight winning seasons going all the way back to Mike Malarkey. Of course, most of those seasons were nine and seven, but Tennessee did make the AFC Championship one of those seasons with Brabel before losing to the Chiefs. Callahan then took over last season and it was ugly. Three and 14 ugly to be exact. Funny enough, his tenure has definitely mirrored the guy before Malarkey and Ken Wizenhunt. He had an ugly 2-4 season and then got axed after a 1-6 start in 2015. The Titans will definitely move off fast if they need to, and they’ve done it again with Callahan. The 2024 Titans were truly a joke. Will Lavis was becoming a new meme every single week, and they would really just find fun and creative ways to lose games. But it’s not like they were getting better through the season. If anything, the end of the season was way worse than it was at the beginning. After an 0 and3 start, the Titans beat the Dolphins for Callahan’s first head coach victory. Ironic enough, it actually came after Levvis got injured and Mason Rudolph had to come in and lead the Titans to the win. That got them to the by-week and then things really didn’t change much. They were 1-6 and ended up beating the Patriots in overtime in week nine. I mean, it just goes to show you that that was just not a good Patriots team at all. But Nick Faulk ended up coming up big with the gamewinner in OT after the Pat scored on the final play of regulation to push it to OT. But just 3 weeks later, the Titans actually won again, beating the Texans as Levis tossed two touchdowns. That put the Titans at 3-8. Pretty good for a very bad season, but then there was just no improvement. The season ended with six straight losses for a 3 and4 record, and it was just an ugly year. Levis and Rudolph essentially split the season, but combined a throw for 22 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. Neither was particularly better than the other. It was really just a lot of meh. Calvin Ridley was the clear top target with over 1,000 yards and four touchdowns. And nobody else even had 500 receiving yards, although Nick Westbrook Ain and Chica Conquo got pretty close. Not to mention that Westber Ain was the touchdown machine on the team. Dude had nine and now he’s on the Dolphins. Then it was really the Tony Pard show on the ground with over a,000 yards and five touchdowns. Harold Landry had nine sacks and he actually went on to follow Mike Frabel to New England. Ardan Key had five sacks. Jeffrey Simmons had five and already has four and a half sacks this season by the way, but those guys are still with the Titans. Ammani Hooker also had five interceptions and is just a true ball hawk there. I mean, there were definitely some obvious standout players, but it was an awful season. Now, on the bright side, when a team is bad, there is some good news that comes along with that, a high draft pick. And the Titans were just bad enough to get the number one overall pick and were able to take Cam Ward, a guy who definitely could be the future franchise quarterback in Tennessee if he was developed correctly. But that’s a big if and that hasn’t exactly gone well for the Titans. There have been a lot of shots on quarterbacks in Tennessee. There was Will Levis in the second round in 2023 and then Malik Willis in the third in 2022, but it goes way deeper than just those two guys. Marcus Mariota in 2015, Jake Locker in 2011, Vince Young in 2006, all first round guys. Quarterbacks just haven’t stuck around or turned into the franchise guys in Tennessee. And whether or not Cam Mort is good enough to break that trend if the situation around him sucks. It’ll be borderline impossible. He got plenty of experience in college across three schools, but Miami was definitely his best season. He ended up going number one overall, making him the only zero star recruit to go number one this century. And Ward even got permission to wear Warren Moon’s number one jersey. There are some serious expectations around this guy, and they need him to be the savior. And so far, well, he’s a rookie and his team just isn’t good. I mean, I don’t know what many people expected. He has 1,11 yards to go with three touchdowns and four picks. And he’s already been sacked 25 times. His top receiver has been Ridley as expected, but it hasn’t been much. He has just 290 yards on 16 catches. Then Okonquo has 28 on 23. Then Alec Manor has already made an impact as a fourthround rookie. He has 17 catches for 196 yards, but has two of Ward’s three passing touchdowns. Pard then has 92 carries on the ground for 362 yards and two touchdowns. A trip to injured reserve for Tai Spears due to a high ankle sprain definitely didn’t help the offense either. Simmons is the guy that definitely still sticks out on the defense, but I was honestly surprised to see Cody Barton already has two picks this year. The big issue for the Titans is that both sides of the ball stink. If one side is playing well, the other will find a way to disappoint. And that’s been the story all season. The lone win this year came in week five against the Cardinals. and that broke a 10-game losing streak going all the way back to last season. And it wasn’t exactly a textbook or good win for Tennessee. But at the very least, it did show that they could fight. They went down 21-3 in the second quarter and were still down 21 to6 entering the fourth quarter, but Pard rushed for a touchdown and then well, I don’t even know truly how to describe this year, but Tyler Lockett then had one of the touchdowns of all time. He recovered a fumble in the end zone after Cam Ward threw a pick and then it was knocked out. though not exactly how the Titans drew it up, but I guess it worked. Then Joey Sly drilled a 29yd field goal to win it as time expired, giving Ward his first ever win despite him struggling a bit. And that was a muchneeded confidence boost because the Titans were already 0 and4 coming into the game. It probably saved Callahan’s job for the time being, and it definitely seems like that now, but they didn’t respond to play better against the Raiders the next week. Las Vegas was on a four-ame losing streak of their own and were clearly better and ended up winning. Tennessee didn’t score in the first half and was down 20 to3 before a garbage time Ward touchdown pass to David Martin Robinson. It was truly embarrassing.

Let's be honest, most top 5 QB draft picks end up at dumpster organizations that have no clue what they're doing, sometimes they figure it out, most times they don't

"I'm Gonna keep it a buck with you….We a$$ right now". – Cam Ward 2025
Draft a QB#1 overall if he's not totally dominant is π½π½π½ππΎππΎππΎποΈποΈποΈποΈ . Will Campbell, Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter were better picks.
You sound kind of dumb how we failing cam when we fired the reason he wasnβt doing good EXPLAIN
Wasn't this the same team that traded AJ Brown? Just like Detroit had the curse of Bobby Lane, the Titans has a new curse of AJ Brown and they haven't been the same since
i don't watch football but my favorite team is the titans seen am from Tennessee and here how much day suck each and ever year is so sad
Struggling to get to 50% isnt exactly a capable QB.
Wrong new coach will be building around he skill set as last should have done
Mediocre qb goes to very bad team. This is the result
They gonna hire a qb guru type coach to build him up and most likely find a #2 wr to pair wit Ridley in offseason… He only a rookie so u definitely overreacting
Too bad you can't fire ownership…
Again not Leviβs fault
They have been failing their QB's since After the McNair era. They don't understand how to reload at the position and the proof is in the pudding when you look at all the QB's they have gone through.
Cam Ward Stinks!!!!! Terrible First overall pick!!!! QBs that are Takin 1st Overall should make everyone around them better!!!! Cam Wards pocket presence Stinks!!! His mechanics are Terrible!!! His Leadership is TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!
Callahan will go down as a top 5 worst coaching hire since 2020. In the same category as Urban Meyer, Joe Judge, and Brandon Staley.
I do appreciate you actually saying that itβs not Cams fault
