Bengals Desperate for WIN Thursday Night – Can They Keep Hope Alive vs Steelers?

It’s a must-win Thursday night game for the Cincinnati Bengals as they try to snap a four-game losing streak and keep their season alive. What I’m watching for and a prediction for prime time under the lights at Por Stadium right now on Cincinnati Bengals Talk. It’s been a busy week and this is no doubt a must-win. A kitchen sink type game for the Cincinnati Bengals. A game they need to win to keep their season alive. Three and four with two AFC North wins is much much different than two and five with a 5-1 team leading the division. And so the Bengals need to get this dub. They do. And so what am I watching for on Thursday night? Well, first thing is first. I am sick and tired of not seeing points scored in the first half. The Bengals have been outscored 79-9 in the first half of their last four games. Obviously, they’ve lost these last four games. Score in the first half. Score touchdowns in the first half. Be productive in the first half. Get off to a fast start. Play with a lead. All of those things uh are things that the Bengals need to do on Thursday night. and and scoring in the first half. Like they have nine points in their last four games in the first half. They need more than that this week in the first half. They need we need to be talking about 10 to 14 points for this Cincinnati Bengals team in the first half minimum. Minimum because they need to get a win. And the path to getting a win is scoring multiple times in the first half, including at least one touchdown. One touchdown is not too much to ask. Number two, well, they have to stop the run. and they have to stop the run because if they’re going to get after Aaron Rogers and pressure Aaron Rogers, well, they’re going to have to slow down Jaylen Warren. They’re going to have to slow down this Steelers rushing attack. That isn’t that good. Now, the Bengals are certainly the worst rushing attack in the league, averaging 57 yards per uh game rushing. But the Steelers aren’t far off. They’re the fourth worst at 84 yards per game. The Steelers average 3.4 a carry. The Bengals average 3.1 a carry. So they they aren’t much different, but you need to make sure that rushing attack doesn’t get going. That this isn’t the get-right game for the Bengals or for the Steelers rushing attack. Last week, Josh Jacobs entered averaging 3-3 a carry. He averaged 52 a carry, had two touchdowns. That cannot happen if this Bengals team is going to win and improve to three and four on the season. And number three, and the thing that I’m watching for that I think is is really it goes without saying every week, but it’s huge. They need splash plays. And when I look at this team and I I I think about this defense, when this defense is playing competent football or better and winning football, they’re forcing some splash plays. They’re forcing interceptions. They’re flying around. You have Gino Stone with the interception because DJ Turner bats it. Jordan Battle earlier in the year, he has two interceptions. Both of them happened in Bengals wins. Like, they need splash plays on defense, but also on offense. It’s it’s it’s hard to live and die with long drives, 17 play drive like that 17 play, 78 yard drive they had against Green Bay coming out of the half. That’s really tough, especially with the Steelers pass rush. So, explosive plays in general, I need them on offense, on defense. Joe Flacco’s longest pass was 19 yards last week. Chase Brown’s longest run is 13 yards all season. How about you give me a a 40 yard plus pass and a 20 plus yard run. Looking for that. Uh there’s one more thing that I have to get to. One more thing that I’m looking for and then I’m going to get to my prediction for a m or a Thursday night must win for the Cincinnati Bengals. We will do that coming up next. This show is brought to you by Christian Husky of Sipsy Klein Realtors. Christian. Well, he’s a Bengals die hard. I want to spend a little bit more time on my prediction and describing or giving you that. So, we will do that in just a second. But number four, it’s simple. And the Bengals did it last week in the second half specifically. Protect Joe Flacco. Give Joe Flacco time. Give Joe Flacco the ability to step up or slide or move. He has good pocket awareness and pocket presence. And no, he can’t move like physically run one way or the other. And you don’t want him going off script like Joe Burrow. But you didn’t really want Jake Browning doing that either. And so just protect him. If you protect him, I think he’s going to be able to have some success. Much easier said than done. The Steelers defensive front is their strength of their team. They’re going to heat up Joe Flaccoon. So, you’re going to have to have some quick game. You’re going to have to do a bunch of things that are designed to make sure TJ Watt and this Steelers pass rush doesn’t wreck the game. I get it. But man, oh man, if you protect Joe Flacco, you produce some big plays, you score early on, you get a lead, there’s certainly a path to a Bengals victory. And with that, it is prediction time here on Cincinnati Bengals Talk. And this prediction is brought to you by Rivertown Incory and Rivertown inory.com. If you’re looking for quality apparel, if you’re looking for quality shirts, by the way, this that I’m wearing if you’re watching on YouTube, Rivertown Incory. Yeah, put this together for us. Cincinnati Bengals talk custom polo. And so you got to get to rivertown iny.com now or check out their two locations, Finley Market and Oakley. This is a mustwin for the Bengals. I’ve said that time and time and time again this week. Heck, I said it last week before the Packers game that my focus before I had even started the drive and the the trek up to to Green Bay. Focuses on Thursday night. You got to win. And I think the Bengals do. Their backs are against the wall. I don’t know if they’re a good football team, but I think they’re good enough to get this game. I think Jamar Chase shows up. I think T. Higgins shows up. I think that this defense will be opportunistic enough to get some plays, make some plays. Getting Shamar Stewart back is huge, especially when it comes to to stopping the run and causing chaos. I think he is a chaos causer. And so, yeah, this team, they have some injuries. I get it. I understand it. But I I think backs against the wall. They’re going to find a way to win this game. If not, then the whole the whole mindset shifts. And I think they know that. And so this is you got to throw everything at this to find a way to get a win and get to Friday or late Thursday night with a three and four record. And whether that’s trick plays, whether that’s running the ball, whether that’s just giving Jamar Chase 50 targets, it it really doesn’t matter. The how, it always matters, but the how is very very on the back burner. And it’s what is it a win or a loss? And I’m going to take the Bengals to win. It’s going to be a close one. I think they’re going to protect Joe Flacco. I think Flacco is going to move the ball down the field regularly. I think they’re going to have to settle for a bunch of field goals and they’ll still get a couple of touchdowns. I think the Steelers are going to do the same thing and have to set settle for some field goals. And that’s why Evan McFersonson and the Bengals, they win by a field goal. 26-23, a seasons saving win to keep hope alive and give the Bengals a chance here at making a a bit of a run in rallying after four straight losses. If they’re going to rally, it has to start this week. It has to start on Thursday night. Obviously, we’re going to be there at Por Stadium covering it wire towire. So, make sure you check that out on uh wherever you get your podcast, of course, and right here uh on our YouTube channel, Cincinnati Bengals Talk. And if you’re looking for more coverage, we have a ton, and I mean a ton already and more coming at bangles.com. Until next time, and until game day, I’m James. 1. At this point I got my feet up and could care less. Burrows injury prone, our coach is subpar, and our gm blows almost every 1st round pick. It is what it is

  2. I'm predicting a Bengals win tomorrow night against the Loathsome Steelers. Paycor ought to be LOUD, reflecting the City's desperation for the Beloved Bengals…who, let's face it, NEED a BREAk!!
I think (hope) that the Offensive Line will hold up long enough for Joe F to get the ball to varied targets. It can't just be Chase all night long. Maybe, just MAYBE, we'll get SOME kind of run game on the rails.
It's Thursday Night, in front of the Nation. Let's back Joe Flacco who I KNOW has some outstanding stuff left in his arm. He's a seasoned vet and just needs a 2.5 seconds to work. Can this bunch of patchwork, bargain bin, but not totally without merit group reach down for something special?
    We'll see tomorrow night.
It's a heck of a thing when it's week 7 and this is the make or break game. But, that's what Fate handed our Cats this year. Miracle seasons are made of just such things as this.
    Do you believe in miracles?

  3. I have zero confidence in Zac Taylor to do anything the rest of the year to get the team on the winning side. Im tired of him throwing people under the bus for his mistakes. Pisses me off. I hope the players full on revolt

  4. Let's all hope the Stillers have a bad Thursday night. And Rogers don't throw many touchdowns. And Flacco has his First win paying on this Bengals team. I can see them Winning this one. Go Bengals 31-24

  5. This team has more holes than a back yard full of moles, They have trouble beating Pittsburgh with a backup QB and having Burrow playing not sure what the difference is here other than they actually have a QB now in Rodger’s.. They may beat the Jets, Miami and Browns. will have a hard time beating Chicago,Bills, Ravens (2), Steelers (2), Arizona, Patriots. I’m calling it not 4-13 for the year . I love my Bengals I’m just a realist and not In denial. I’ll even bet Taylor keeps his job for another year.

  6. the last 5 AFC North primetime games the bengals played have been on the road.

the last AFC North HOME primetime game the bengals played was back in 2020……………………..

against the steelers………….joe burrow had a significant injury and didn't play………………..they were significant underdogs…………

and the bengals still won. does history repeat itself?
