Rico Dowdle talks run game against New York Jets | Carolina Panthers

coming back. Um, you know, all that stuff is left up to the coach. Um, and then only thing we can control is going out there and producing at a high level, and that’s all we really can control from the running back room. We all pretty close, and there’s no hard feelings either way. I go, Jets defense this week, what do they look like to you on film so far? Um, like I said, they got a a good front seven. Um, those guys trying to take you off double teams linebacker wise and they fast flow and things like that. So, just got to run it and go go straight back. the more dangerous team given their record. I mean, yeah, you know, teams like that, they’re going to be fighting to get that first win. So, and we definitely don’t want to be the ones that give it to them. So, definitely going to throw everything they got to get that win. We feel like and we just got to come in prepared. You can’t sleep on it for sure. It’s the NFL. You go out there any given week and lose. Were you ever in this situation in Dallas? Um, yeah. Um, I started off, you talking about like as far as two backs and things like that. Yeah, I started off uh just like this last year with me and Zeke. We was both splitting carries and been been the same. So yeah, I was in this situation before. I know you say it doesn’t matter who starts, but every running back, every player in here, the position wants to start. I mean, that’s why they’re they’re here. So, but so it does matter, doesn’t it? I mean, it just I know you guys are trying to be great each other, but doesn’t it really matter though? No, it don’t really, like I said, it don’t really matter who’s starting. It’s just a matter about going out there, getting the win, and executing. And then as long as we all getting the ball and things like that, and it’s helping the team win, so it really don’t matter. Is it weird to be even answering this question whether you’re going to start coming off of the two games that you did? I mean, set a franchise record for back-to back scrimmage yardage games. Um, no, I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s weird. You know, when you go out there and perform and have two good games like that, of course, it’s going to be the question, but like I said, it’s all up to the coaches about what goes on. And obviously, Chuba’s been here and he’s got his contract and things like that, and it’s been his team from the jump. So, got to just take all that into account for sure. Is it hard to get into a rhythm? Um I would I think I said that last year like yeah I I would say it’s a little bit hard to get into it because you know running back is repwise and you get into that rhythm with the Florida game but the way I think we’ll do it. I don’t think it’ll be hard to get into a rhythm at all especially the way those guys blocking up front. Could you see it as being beneficial of due back and both of you guys kind of splitting carries? Oh yeah, for sure. I think it’s going to allow us for us both to be fresh throughout the whole game duration of the game. Obviously, we’ve seen the past two games I’ve cramped up late in the game. So, definitely thank you to help. And like I said, a two-headed monster is better than one. So, we’ll be fresh.

Dowdle spoke on the possibility of having teammate Chuba Hubbard back on the field to open up the Panthers run game.
