PP1/PP2 Updates for Panthers Game

  1. **reminder that Keefe said this season they’ll be making changes to the PP units to reflect different matchups against different teams and how best to score against different penalty kills.**

  2. Tbh I’m just thankful to have two good looking pp units that can produce, even without one of the best net front guys in the league

  3. PP 1 is a huge PP.

One thing I noticed last year is that Luke and Jack *sometimes* would try to look for one another so much that it was to the detriment of the rest of the guys/the overall unit. I was preferring Dougie be out there on PP1 because they were sort of hogging the puck between them a bit too much. Not every time, but enough that the PP was not as effective as if the puck was being distributed all around.

Having decades-long chemistry is fantastic but forcing plays to one another because of family isn’t… though to be fair, perhaps Luke wasn’t as settled and felt he could feed Jack any time he wasn’t feeling confident out there, as he is still very young and being asked to be the sole D-man on a playoff-caliber PP.

Luckily, I haven’t felt that way this year so far from what I’ve seen, and I won’t mind if it happens once or twice over the course of a season because yeah… sure, try to feed your brother some points, but I hope that has been ironed out where they calm down and remember there are 3 other guys who are incredibly capable too.
