I can’t in good faith knock down a zoo for a hospital… Levi’s stays.
Candlestick curse is real
*Looks at 200m invested into this year*
I think there are a few people who would say no, and their vote means a lot more than ours lol.
Build it on Alcatraz!
One of the few places with worse weather than candlestick. Also could you imagine the traffic on 19th/Sloat/Sunset?! 💀
That would be a nightmare commute that would probably be worse than Candlestick.
If that’s the only option for the Niners playing in the city… I’d rather have the zoo.
The California Coastal Commission would like a word…
Just put it back at Candlestick. No clue why they never did that to begin with. I get post Arnie the state was struggling with funds, but there was no better spot for the stadium than right there.
California coastal commission and every neighborhood within a mile.
Gross.
First of all, the zoo is awesome. Second, traffic and transit would be a nightmare. You’ve got to build closer to Caltrain or BART, or at least a proper highway.
The SF zoo is home to Tiger escapes on consecutive Christmas days. That’s heritage
Anyone with common sense
That’s a pretty grotesque thought.
There’s literally nothing at hunters point where candlestick lived. Build a damn ferry port and you can ferry people from across the bay, Redwood City, and so forth.
The critters at the zoo are in good health. Replacing the zoo with a monolith with unhealthy critters trying to run around is a poor trade-off.
Then in 20 years when the ocean rises it can be a pool, too!
I do, WTF?
Bulldoze the San Francisco Zoo? I’d rather have the SF Zoo in SF and Levi’s in Santa Clara.
I do live near Santa Clara, but that’s besides the point…
Traffic would be a nightmare.
HELL NO!
Won’t someone please think of the chimpanzees?
Absolutely not. Might as well build on the Candlestick area.
Why get rid of the zoo? The SF zoo is awesome. If anything, knock down the apartments where Playland used to be and put Candlestick II there instead.
If you wanted to bring it back to the city, then IMO the best location would be Potrero Point just south of Oracle and Chase Center. The property is around 29 acres, which is 7 acres larger than the Levi Site. They would need to add a Bart Extension to get to this area but it keeps the stadium in the City and near the Giants and Warriors.
I could freaking walk to the game!
it’s all sand dune out there… the foundation work would probably cost more than current Levi’s
The next 49ers stadium should be put within walking distance of BART or Caltrain to be honest.
Is this a joke? The zoo is like a factory for manufacturing happy childhood memories.
