Bouchard sucks ass
I’m gonna laugh if Skinner walks this offseason and plays well elsewhere (honestly hope that’s the case for him).
He’s not elite, and it seems clear pressure gets to him in the spot he’s in there where he falls apart in some games after letting in a softer goal, but holy shit the Oilers team defense is usually such ass, but somehow never gets called out (only see the same few names, Skinner always being one of them).
Example: McDavid is touted as the greatest player without question right now, but way, waaaay to many times do I see him playing god awful defense (the kind guys get rightly chewed out for and benched over).
Outside of an elite goalie standing on his head, there’s a lot a of nights even a really good or great goalie would struggle with the way that team plays.
He, and others (like Bouchard) definitely have their bad gaffes, but he’s such a punching bag he’s just become an excuse to overlook how the team plays.
Can we please stop blaming Skinner every time his defense hangs him out to dry?
