Edmonton Oilers vs. New York Islanders | Full Game Highlights | ESPN NHL
David Riddick gets his first start as an Islander. Riddick played 34 times for the Kings last year. A free agent signed here with the Islanders. He’s seen the Oilers plenty from his days in Calgary. TJ Luxmore, Mike Sullivan and the referee. Steve Barton and CJ Murray will work the lines who surprisingly are still looking for his first point of the season. The offensive minded defense. Barcel turnover backhand shot hit the post. Unbelievable opportunity. Kyle Palary just rang the post. the first three games is going to be a beneficiary of a Bousard turnover. He wants to throw this right up the middle of the ice to Dry Cidle. He hits the Here’s Schaer makes the move. Little dangle at the line by Bousard. Bousard had his stick lifted. What a move. Shot save. Unbelievable chance for Jonathan Druad. Turned right over to Pou. Here’s Romanov. Floats one. Missed the one. There’s Lee for Pio Romano. Spins it across from Mayfield. Plus one in front was Anders Lee and it’s D’Angelo. Shoots in softly in terms of action. Here’s D’Angelo. Shooting opportunity. Glove save. Skinner. Oh, Shin Pan turned it over. Right on goal. Rick had to be ready. Oh, look out there. Turn it over again. Here’s Barcel [Applause] and this time Bard the Oilers have to pay. One- nothing Islanders. The Islanders have only led for 90 seconds in a game till now. What a dreadful turnover by Bard. There’s no urgency in this game. This is the Achilles heel of Evan Bousard. He always thinks he’s got more time, but you don’t. The first turnover hit the goal post and went wide. He’s for a couple more weeks. Tomasic is stuck around on the first line. First power play and looking for his first NHL goal. Centered in front side. And that’s how easy the Oilers can make it look. And after all Edmonton struggled the entire first period, we’re all even at one a piece. They’ve given up four power play goals in 12 chances. Now the faceoff win and the David and Dry Cidle connect and Dry Cidle gets the puck deep into his feet. Man, that’s a good shot because his stick, it’s a long stick. It gets tight into his feet and yet he’s able to still quickly beat D. Merry couldn’t handle turnover in front. Here’s Duc another score. Stick handling in a phone booth and somehow Skinner with the right pad kept it out in this period. He doesn’t see Duclair right behind him. Duclair so good. So big to control the puck like that. Stetcher still to the front of the net for Nan Hopkins. Couldn’t get a stick on. That shot is stopped by Rick. Crosen in his tracks down low for him. He’s got the big boys out here together. Offensive face off. Mayfield will flip it. Just gets it away. Here’s Horvat on the break. Step on the short back hand and Skinner steers aside. He’s one of those guys signed a long extension in the offseason. Eight years for Romanov. [Applause] I like his game. This replica was shot away and Rit had to be ready for Skinner on the backhand by Bo Horvad and a shot that looked pretty similar to the one that unless he does that as we’re speaking. He was so dominant really in the first three games raised the bar. You expect so much and I think the Oilers have done a good job against Schaeer so far here tonight. Turnover shot score. Nan Hopkins blasts one through Riddick. And just like that, despite the Islanders dominance in the first period, New York finds itself now trailing two to one. At 1-1, the Islanders turn the puck over in the middle of the ice. And that’s a really nice quick up across to Nan Hopkins. Emerson fires the puck across. to Nan Hopkins again. Blake Barczel and they both played at the Burnaby Winter Club in Vancouver growing up. The score 193 quick up there. [Applause] Backhand feed. Shot stopped. What a save there by Skinner on the Islanders alltime goalc scoring list. Wake currently ranks 29th in goals scored in New York Islanders history. He’s only here. 4 and a2 years 29. Trevor got a whack at it. Couldn’t do anything with it. Islanders come to it. Got him through for Dryside. A one touch right back. Shot missed and off the side. Rick had to be very careful. Tricky shot there by McDavid. Trying to catch him going across. Short-handed. Here’s Horvat and he shoots. No Horvat. Shorthanded goal for the Islanders. And New York has tied the game at two. [Music] get to the puck. Look at Evan Bush standing on the boards. I got to say for a really good year, this is about as bad as two periods I’ve seen an NHL player play. Blocked out of the defense by Nurse Racing. McDavid got a step McDavid. Oh, what a save by Reick. Reick stops McDavid. McDavid’s going to get this step on Adam Pel. I mean, that’s not a fair. No, not very often. No, nobody wants the rebuild though, right? Nobody’s shooting first anymore. Got the call shot and then comes through the crease. 03 and four ties. Ties back then. Right on. Mayfield and Skinner shuts it down immediately. Feel like the puck’s been bouncing a lot tonight. Ran off. The ice looks like to you. No, the ice looks fine. Looks good. Actually, I’m surprised it has ping ponged around a little bit for Paul Mary. Here’s Barza for the slot. Got him away. Shot stopped by Skinner up high. Shrugged it off the shoulder bag. Stick is down. Dry has time to pick up his own stick. Here’s D’Angelo to the middle. Floats one through. Stopped by Skinner. And then bang it away. crease is Anders Lee. But as D’Angelo now on that second unit shoots this puck, it’s tipped by Heinaman through the screen of Anders Lee who’s made a career out of playing in the front of the net. Oh, that’s a good save by Skinner. That’s all position. You can’t really see Islanders getting the change. Here’s Strile for McDavid. Soft pass. Bushard down low. Kappa whacking away at it. The Oilers or the Islanders win the draw again. Now they can attack. Here’s Barcel [Applause] Horn back. Shorthanded and a power play goal. 7 seconds into the man advantage. 32 Islanders. I mentioned on the first power play, one of the great spots for Bo Harvat is in the bumper spot on the pass from Barcel cuz he can really shoot it. Horvat’s got a real heavy hand. When he gets the puck, he leans on it quickly. Barcel’s pass is right on the tea. He feathers it over Henrik Henrik’s stick. It lands flat and it’s in the net. Remember the problems earlier leaves that the Islanders had on the power play. They couldn’t get set up with a little space. You’re right. There’s no way Ster thinks McDavid is passing the puck to him in that spot. No chance. That’s when they pull the goalie. Bousard got it through. was knocked down at the defense, never made it through on goal. Tomasa getting across. Bousard wristwall with no traffic in front that time. Blocker aside by Riddick net front presence dry side. McDavid sneaking around the back door. They don’t get it to him. Back to the point. Here’s Eko. He lets it go. Shot blocked by Duclair. McDavid on it now. D’Angelo came out to greet him. McDavid down low trying to set up N helping in the bumper and he shot it wide. Bousard able to keep in a minute 15 to go. Echol McDavid got it all the way through. Bousard wrist shot knocked aside. Kicked out by Escape. Echol got it across. Booard shot the angle. Loose puck in the crease. Big guys have been on the ice forever. They got to be exhausted. 22 seconds left. Iman gets to it for New York. Another chance. It’s a twoon with the empty net. Here’s Truan. Got it across and has the hattick and the Islanders are going to get their first win of the season. [Music]
Bo Horvat scores a hat trick in the New York Islanders’ 4-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers, the Isles’ first victory of the 2025-26 season.

I'm sorry, but McDavid is the laziest backchecker in the League. Supposed to be the fastest…watched him on the penalty kill, flying when he had a shot at the puck….but when the play went the other way….he just glided into the defensive zone……..and it happens every game…..then whines at his teammates on the bench when they get down……..horrible leader
Beautiful!
