Cam Skattebo on his relationship with Jaxson Dart | New York Giants

Did you know anything about him as a No, you know, I actually went home. Yeah, I went home and looked him up. You know, saw saw him do a couple back flips after his touchdowns and stuff and I was like, “All right, this guy’s being serious.” You know, sometimes you don’t believe him, but I did believe him that time when Tom when he was playing for Tom Coughlin. Tom Coughlin hated it when hated it when he because he thought he was going to get hurt. Yeah. Love to touch. I mean, athletes are athletes. I mean, if you get hurt doing a back flip and I’ve been doing it my whole life and I’ve knock on wood, never been hurt doing it. So, I mean, I I I try to keep it as safe as possible, try not to do too many turns and flips. So, me, too. I do some things. Yeah. How much did Rio Linda shape you as a player and as a person and in what ways? Um, it taught me the good from bad and the bad from good. Um, you know, and it it kept me Your mom raised a great kid. She’s the reason I’m I’m where I’m at. You know, she’s been the one that, you know, taught me my manners, taught me how to be, taught me the yeses and the nos. Um, she she did a great job with that. But just learning from other people’s lives on, you know, what to take take in and what not to take in. Um, you know, I grew up around a lot of a lot of different cultures and different atmospheres and, you know, those those people taught me a lot of what not to do and what to do. So, um, just being who I am today is, you know, I’ve I’ve soaked in some stuff and then, you know, kind of kind of let some stuff go. Do you think the blue collar work ethic that defines that town is part of the way you play like the violent nature of the balls? I think that’s just from loving the game. I mean, I simply love the game and I’m I’m a big strong guy, so why not be physical doing it? Uh I mean, you don’t expect a guy like me to go run past somebody at, you know, 20 miles an hour. This is not why would I try to play like that if that’s not me, you know? Scott, a couple games ago, Deario Davis, he credited you. He praised the way you play the game. Coming from a veteran like that, guys probably go to the Hall of Fame. How does that make you feel when you when you hear things like that? Yeah, I mean, it’s awesome. you know, you I I like I said, I didn’t really watch football growing up, but knowing he’s been in the league for 14 years, right? I mean, that that’s amazing that someone that I don’t want to call him old, but that that been in the game for this long, you know, a veteran that’s been in the game for this long is able to credit me. I mean, that’s just another shows me another way how much I love the game and how much I put on the field to, you know, try to win the game. Anybody else? Cam, how long do you think it’s going to be before opponents start looking at you differently? because now you put a lot on tape. They see what you can do. They’re going to make adjustments, right? Yeah. I think I think it’s going to start. Yeah. I mean, it you can plan it. You can plan for it. There’s other people on the team, you know. I mean, you can run the ball, you can pass the ball, other teams can do it, too. Um, you know, and if people want to bring nine in the box, then someone’s got to step up. That’s that’s really about it. So, um, I mean, they game plan just like we game plan. So, people start game planning for me, then there’s going to be other other ways to get the ball to other people. apologies. What’s this week been like for you? Uh, it’s been awesome. You know, and like my my team’s done a great job behind me that has kind of kept everything under control and making sure that doesn’t get to me before them. Um, and, you know, really taken in consideration that, you know, I’m still a football player and I still need to worry about football. Um, and they bring up the stuff that, you know, they think I might like or think I want, you know, I think I might want, but um, they do a great job of, you know, panning some stuff out and, you know, bringing me other things. What goes into the you and Dart’s kind of helmet knotted celebration. What went into that? Yeah, I mean, just craziness. Just me and him being crazy, you know, being friends. And it’s just something like, you know, some he has to throw the ball with his right hand and I have a little like sometimes from stiff arm, my right hand will bother me or be bruised up. So, I’m like, we just started headbutting. Like, it’s it’s just something that you naturally do when you have a helmet on. You almost talked him into doing a back flip with you last game. No, it was a fake back flip. That was the the talk was about not doing the back flip and doing something else. So,
