Commanders Sign Former 1st-Round WR Treylon Burks! Can They Fix Him?

News breaking Thursday evening and on lockdown commanders, we can confirm that the Washington Commanders are signing 2022 firstround wide receiver Trail Burks to the practice squad. For more on why it didn’t work in Tennessee for Training Burks and what the Commanders might be getting, here’s Tyler Roland of Locked on Titans. How’s it going commanders fans? I’m Tyler Roland, Locked on Titans. And Trayon Burks was built as a big size and speed possession receiver coming out of college. But the reality is he never lived up to those expectations. And the number one reason why was health. Treyen Burks cannot stay healthy. He’s a guy who has bad balance. And falling to the ground when you go up for a catch is truly a skill. And Trayen Burks’s skill rating on that skill is an absolute zero. He can be physical when he gets the ball in his hands on like a wide receiver screen or something like that. It was something he did well in college. He has shown the ability to go up and high point the football, jump over defenders and get it. But he’s not a very good route runner. Uh is a little boxy in the hips. Doesn’t really do inb breakers or out breakers very well. More of just a vertical guy down the field where he can use that size and the speed. But here’s something the Commanders fans have to consider. Everyone who leaves the Tennessee Titans turns into their best self after they leave. So, while I don’t have much faith that Trayon Burks will turn into anything for the Commanders, the reality is he’s leaving the Titans and going somewhere new. And that’s probably a good sign that he’ll turn into an AllPro at this point. So, that’s my thoughts on Tayen Burks. If he can stay healthy, he might be able to help, but it would take a big change even if he does stay healthy for him to turn into a productive player. The Washington Commanders are taking a low-risk, high-reward flyer, signing former 2022 first-round pick WR Treylon Burks to the practice squad. We get the inside scoop from Tyler Roland of Locked On Titans on why it didn’t work out in Tennessee.

Key Points:

Health is the #1 issue: Burks has struggled to stay on the field consistently.

Physical Tools: He possesses the size and speed that made him a top prospect but is not a refined route-runner.

Change of Scenery: Can the Commanders unlock the potential that other teams have seen in players after they leave the Titans?

This is a classic “prove it” signing for a player with immense physical talent.
