Florida Panthers Lose Third Straight 3-1 to NJ Devils – Getting Frustrating

Huh? For two years they don’t let me do intro cuz we winning the cup and we keep winning, winning, winning. They say, “Francisco, you’re only allowed to come on when we’re pissed off and losing.” Well, I pissed off now. Huh? How many guys have to be injured? Huh? Half the team is out. We lose two games in a row on the road. What’s wrong with you, Chim Mangos? Huh? God, get together, Panthers. All right, give me two points. be nice because if you don’t give me two points tonight, I’m going to peck you with the pecker. Let’s go Panthers. Let’s go Panthers. Let’s go Panthers. Let’s go. Let’s go Panthers. Let’s go Panthers. Let’s go Panthers. Let’s go. All right, Panther fans. Let’s go. I remembered the ring. So, uh, it’s not I’m not It’s not on purpose. It just happens to be that’s the finger it’s on. So, what do you want from me? So, um, boy oh boy oh boy. Paul Maurice has he must have bought a new blender during the summer and uh because the line blender you thought it was you thought it’s been out you’ve already watched the game but uh wait till you get a load of this so you got to see if I can even remember Bennett with Rodriguez and Reinhardt I think or Bennett with Rodriguez and Verhagy I for the bottom he’s changed He’s just he’s probably already changed it. It’s why I don’t remember. Lustster Rin is is at 3C. Lucin is at 3C. No, it’s it’s Ben with Marian. Ben Marian Rodriguez. That’s why I couldn’t remember if it was Reinard or Rhy cuz it was it was neither. I get it, Paul. Right. I mean, like two best players for pretty much are out. So, I understand. Didn’t see Lucin coming in at 3C. Although every once in a while we are reminded that Etu Lucin played 4C for the entire President’s Trophy season had 17 goals, 26 assists and his faceoff percentage was about 42% which is about what you’re getting out of Bennett and Rodriguez anyway. So we shall see. Now I don’t know what that line’s going to be loose to Ryan with Samuskevich and Boquist. I don’t know. In theory it should not work. So it probably will. So, we’ll just leave it at that. Uh, Teras off is a net tonight. Bubba, you’re doing good, Bubba. Ah, you get another night off. Not quite like Shist Sturken levels of uh getting screwed over. But Bob’s been pretty good. And of course, last night he allowed one goal on a deflection that Forging deflected in and a five on three goal and the dude loses the games. Not okay. I know. I know. He complains to me. You should hear him. He’s got this uh he’s he has you all fooled when when when no when nobody’s around. He’s always giving me So, what are we going to do tonight? Don’t piss me off. That’s what we’re going to do, Panthers. That’s what we’re going to do. This is my 10th season of making these videos. We got one cup, two cups. Okay, that’s good. It’s fantastic. Spectacular. Don’t put me in the position of sitting here in the second week of October telling everybody that ah don’t worry about it. We got two cups. It’s the injuries. I Yes. Yes. And yes, but for me purposes of these videos, I still have to treat the games as though we want to win. I can’t just sit here and be like, “Well, whatever. It doesn’t matter.” No, man. It’s I hate losing. I hate losing. And I want this team to do well. And the better they do now, that still bodess well for the playoffs. You still want these guys to get chemistry together and to get confidence together. And I’m not so sure about Petri, but that’s okay because last year at this time, if you rewind the tape, I was saying the same thing about Schmidt. We talked about him on the noon stream. Be like, “He’s not so fast. He’s a little bit slow.” And then he eventually played himself into shape and seen what happened. All right, Panthers, don’t don’t just just don’t. I’m not. All right. It’s nice outside. 45°. Nice windy cool. I got the sweatshirt on. Do me right, Panthers. And give me two. [Music] Okay. So, one nothing Panthers after one. We will take it. I’m not going to praise the goalie in the middle of the game. So, there’s that. What a mixed bag. So, eventually or immediately, I should say, the Let me see if I can remember this now. the Bennett Marshian Rodriguez line pu uh pays dividends. Uh Marshian takes the puck to the net, gets a rebound. Rodriguez is right there on the side of the net. Boom. It’s one- nothing. And then it’s been a little bit back and forth. Panthers had to lead with shots. Then uh who the hell are we playing? I literally forgot the name of the team that we’re The Devils had to lead in shots. Seriously, guys, the It’s not just white. It’s white on the inside, too. the brain is going. So, we look pretty good. Samuskevich has had a couple of penalties, but one was a twoon two kind of a rough roughing thing where they both got roughed. So, we’re okay there. I can’t quite figure out what the third line’s going to do just yet. What I do know is Bennett, boy, Bennett took his Khan Smite in his contract, and I would I would prefer the real guy show up back on the ice, but it’s one nothing will take the lead. Just just Oh god, it’s the second period is coming up, isn’t it? Panthers, don’t do the thing, please. [Music] All right, so it’s 1-1 after two. Marian came back from the dressing room. There was definitely a few tense minutes there where he went back to the the dressing room. Looked like a neck kind of shoulder type of thing. He came back out. He was still moving his stuff around, but he’s he’s out there. We we don’t we can’t we won’t even discuss what happens to this team right now without Brad Marshian, as crazy as that sounds. So, um I know that there’s a section of you deservably so that say, “Hey, we got two cups. Bark off Chucker out. What you expect?” I understand all of that, but I can’t inside of each game. I’m not going to just every time we do poorly say, “Oh, well, we won two cups and we got injuries.” I’m not going to do that. So, for purposes of the la that last period, what I will say is this is now a game and a half where even though we’re not allowing a lot of goals, Petri and Bolinskus is is not it’s just they have both given the puck away multiple times in our own zone in the defensive zone. It’s not been pretty at all. Every time they’re pressuring and this is what all these teams are doing now and it’s it’s paying dividends because we’re we’re not ourselves. Even in against Chicago and Philly in the games that we won. These teams are all over us. We got no space. As soon as we get the puck, they’re all over us. They are playing our game against us because we’re injured and we’re lethargic. it it just is what it is. There’s no getting around that at this point. Now, they may at some point straighten it out and I know some people like to wait 15 games, 20 games till they completely judge the team. And that’s all fine, well, and good, but we clearly do not have much energy out there. And you got guys like Verhagy who’s just a ghost. Reinhardt missed basically an open natty at the post. Okay, it happens. Bennett looks awful and I know that he played a lot of hockey. I’m not saying he took his K smite and got a contract and quit. Not saying that. But he looks awful. So you’ve got that’s three of your biggest guys that are left and you can only play Samus on so many different shifts. I mean the kid’s out there doing what he can but he’s not putting the puck in the back of the net because nobody’s putting the puck in the back of the net. So, and then defensively, poor Gustaf Forsling is out there blocking shots in game six and going to the bench and and and in pain. And that was when Marshia was going back to the back to the locker room. And it’s 1-1 and hopefully we need to get a point out of this game. At worst, we’ve got to get this game to overtime. This is now the third straight road game in a row we’re playing. That’s going to be a one-goal game most likely. we’ve got to get points out of these games or the discussion about saving ourselves for the playoffs. That that won’t be a problem because we don’t have Barkov, we don’t have Kachchuck, we don’t have Kulakov, we do have energy issues and if you think they won’t miss the playoffs, you’re mistaken because there’s nobody else out there right now that’s really picking it up. Lendell has picked up his play. Lin and Bo Christian was was the third line for about 30 seconds and then things have been moved around. No disrespect to Lucin. You can’t just throw the guy back out there at center and just expect him to snap his fingers. I don’t know what the faceoff percentages are, but it ain’t good. We’re getting out shot by 10. I could go on, but I won’t cuz we’re going to go and we’re going to score two goals in the third period and they’ll make everything I just say incorrect. Let’s do it. [Music] Okay. So, all I’m going to say about the law, the uh goalie interference call was that’s a goal. I’m not even I’m not even going to argue it. Um I don’t think the Panthers were to have come back and won, but that’s a goal. And I’m not even going to. So, do I want to take this off of, you know, uh, maybe we’ll just put that here for now. Maybe we’ll just put that here for now. Okay. Now, for those of you who would like me to just say one cup, two cups, hey, it’s no big deal. We’ll be fine. Okay. It’s no big deal. We’ll be fine. Do you believe me? So now last year after Kachchuck got hurt, we pretty much look like ourselves. You know what I mean? We pretty much look like ourselves and we won the cup with Kachchuck on one leg. So I think we see where the problem and I’m not trying to dis disrespect Kachchuck, but when Bararkov went down the whole the whole structure of this team changed. And I don’t think we have an answer for it. Now, Lundelle can defensively do enough of what Barkov does that that wouldn’t necessarily be a devastating all-encompassing loss. The problem is is that we don’t have a 3C. We don’t have a 3C, let alone a third center. That was what Lundelle would do which would just be absolutely dominate. We don’t have a 3C at all. Um Rodriguez has been okay but with like a 41 42% face off. So tonight we try Luc Rinan. There was nothing out of that line. Samuskevich did have some shifts where he’s out there doing something as much as he could, but Lucy and Abocus were absolutely as invisible as top nine players could be. That’s how invisible they were. Fourth line has not been a spark plug at all. The difference in this team the last three games versus the first three games is incredible to me because the first three games we were all saying is a welloiled machine. Everything looked great. I mean, that was Erin Ecklad’s comment. I said the same thing on the stream at the end of the the end of the Ottawa games like we’re a welloiled machine. This we’re good. We’re fine. This is we’re fine. But this is three games in a row now. And so I’m not going to just sit here and point to the cup signs and say it’s going to be okay because the problems that we have are real. They’re real. We don’t have a third center. We don’t have any centers other than Lendell who are getting anywhere remotely close to 50% in the faceoff circle. We don’t have the energy. Every team is all over us. When we have to puck, we have no room. We have no time. We have no space. And we are panicking and giving it away and giving it away and giving it away and giving it away. And Bolinskus is what he is, which is he’s decent when he’s playing well, but nights like tonight, my god, the giveaway machine. Now, it may not all be leading to goals cuz Terasoft played a hell of a game. Okay, let’s just start there. It may not be leading to four and five goals a night, but that’s because the goalending has been really good, but we are losing possession constantly in our own zone. And we are losing the board battles constantly in our own zone. And we’re not getting any kind of production at all really from the bottom six. We’re not getting any production at all at all. Right. That’s two games in a Now we got one goal. So, and and both of those goals came on plays by Marian right around the net. Which is why I said if Marian was out, it’s not a playoff team. We’re not Brad Marshian. There’s not even a playoff team right now the way that they are playing now. Could Very at some point turn it on? I don’t know. He was pretty much non-existent most of the regular season last year and then looked good in the playoffs. Bennett Uh, I I don’t know. I know Bennett is really a playoff performer and again that’s usually fine, but we need we need points. We need production. We need something. Uh, Reinhardt has been hit or miss. And so when you take away and you’re not getting production out of Rhy and you’re not getting production out of Bennett and you’re not getting production out of Reinhardt and Barkoff is gone and Kachchuck is gone. Whoa. Whoa. Where are the goals supposed to come from? Where are the goals supposed to come from? And we’ve tinkered with the third line so much that there’s just no chemistry whatsoever with for anybody. And we have a problem. We have problems. We have problems because you’re going to face these teams don’t all suck anymore. And so the Flyers have enough speed and tenacity to give us problems. The Wings, the Devils. Okay, we play Buffalo. Thank God on Saturday. I mean, honestly, that’s where we’re at now is that okay, good. We play Buffalo. Hopefully, we can pull our head out of our ass and get two points on this road trip. It’s bad. And yes, we won two cups, but this is not that team. I am viewing this season as an entirely different singular event because it is. I’m thrilled. We’ve got our two cups. They can’t take them away. And if we don’t win another cup for however long, it’s not like we’re going to be crying that we never won. But that doesn’t mean every time they play poorly, I’m just going to point to the cup signs and say, “Ah, it’s no problem.” Because we still want to win. And even if we want to talk about getting Bark back, Barkoff back for the playoffs, we have to make the playoffs. We have to make the playoffs. And I don’t think they’re making them the way that they’re playing. Now, of course, we’ll have time to fix all of that. But when you really look at those first two games, you know, Chicago played us tough, okay? Philadelphia played us tough. Ottawa was the route and Ottawa is allowing 10 goals a game to everybody right now. So, other than the the Ottawa game, they’ve all been close. They’ve all been tight and the offense has been eh and the offense minus Marand. Holy Okay, so there’s no production coming out of the blue line at all. Mikola is trying to do too much, I suspect, right now. So, I’m not going to completely throw him under the bus, but he’s definitely out there trying to do too much. The the the third pair is just absolutely abysmal right now. Petri is doing a little bit of what Schmidt did last year, which is not look good at the beginning, which with Kulikov, okay, Kulikov covers for you. It’s okay. You can kind of shelter Petri until he gets used to things. But now we got Petri out there supposed to be leading that pair with Bolinskus and Bolinskus is not good right now. It’s not good. And the problem is because we we get people coming to the stream really appreciate it and that’s all fine well and good but people are saying hey we need to make a trade we cannot make any trades until and unless we learn that barkoff is coming or is out for this season because talk about this a lot on the noon stream forget everything that’s happened before the season we knew that when Kachchuck came back from LTIR before Barkoff got We knew we were going to have cap problems and probably have to move on from maybe Rodriguez, Boquist, or some combination of players to get us under the cap. Well, that still stands. If if when Kachchuck comes back, if they say, “Hey, Barov’s going to come back for the playoffs,” then we cannot spend Bararkov’s money. And there’s still a lot of considerations to be taken into place for that because we cannot make any moves right now to go get a guy and use Bararkov’s money because when Bararkov comes back, we’re not going to we’re not going to have that money. So those guys would not be able to play. They could be on the roster. The way the new LTIR works is the roster can be above the cap in the playoffs, but the team that you ice for any individual game has to be cap compliant. So, we have an absolute disaster of a mess. And that’s just the honest truth of it. We have two cups and we still have the core of a team that could win another two, three, maybe two cups, whatever it is. But right now, this year, the reality is is we’ve got just about every singular problem a team could have between the the the lack of energy, the um the injuries, and then the cap situation. We do not have the ability to go get somebody to fix any of these holes that we have. And we do have holes. Now the the the lucky part is that while we do have this gigantic hole at 3C, if Barkov comes back and can play, well then the hole is no longer there. We can fix our own hole. So the idea is we need to tread water until we find out what’s going to happen with Barkoff. But I don’t think they’re playing well enough to do that. Not that you have to get points out of some of these games. Okay, you just can’t lose three straight on the road like this, not score it. You have to get points out of these games. It’s very, very frustrating. And I know some of you are going to say I’m a doomer and all that. That’s fine. I’ve been watching this team since 1993. This is the 10th season of making these videos. I can say whatever the hell I want. Doesn’t matter. 500 people going to watch the video and that’s what’s going to happen. And I appreciate you guys watching, but I’m not going to sit here and pretend like it doesn’t matter to me that they’re losing cuz we won the cup a couple of times. I hate losing. I want to win. And whether or not these guys are not giving the effort because they don’t have the energy, which I’ll be fine with that. If that’s the reality of the situation where they just have completely ran out of gas, then okay, you know what? We got two cups. Take a break. Take the year off. You know what I mean? Fine. Um And that may be that may end up being what the situation is. I you know we may get ahead of things here a little bit but where are the goals going to come from? Because right now we’re counting on a 37year-old and a all a secondyear player in Samuskevich to be the guys that are driving the speed of these plays and and making things happen. And you know, there’s only so long he can sit there and go. It’s like, well, VGA hasn’t been himself in the regular season really at all all the last year and now again this year. And we saw this the second half of the year last year with Reinhardt where we were all kind of like, is he just coasting? Is he hurt? What’s going on? Cuz he’s not and he’s played a lot of hockey. These guys have all played a lot of hockey. And so we made it to three straight Stanley Cup finals. And I’m not proclaiming the season over, etc., etc., but we have real problems. These are real problems. And we can’t fix them. The answers to our problems are on the roster or the guys that, you know, the guys that are hurt that are eventually going to come back or not come back. And if they figure out that Barkoff is not going to come back, I know some people want to get Crosby, but he’s got a contract for next season, we can that can’t happen unless Pittsburgh’s going to eat like 50%. And if you think they’re giving us two years of Sydney Crosby at 50% and we don’t have to give up Samage to get it, so we’re going to beat the Sabres on Saturday. So, we’ll be four and three and then we come back home and maybe we can get on a roll back there. But, there’s genuine issues when when these other teams that are going to play us tough, when these other teams come in or we are there and they’re going to play our style against us, we’re going to lose games because we don’t have the personnel and or the energy to play our style of hockey right now. We just don’t. And that’s just the truth of it. And so not panicking, but um not going to panic. I don’t mean I have to like losing, you know what I mean? So that’s it. That’s it. That’s where we’re at. Um I don’t know what the answers are unless I you know could pick it up, why not could pick it up, Bennett could pull his head out of his ass. I mean, we have guys, but if they’re absolutely gassed from all the hockey, which is entirely possible, then there’s no answers left on the roster there. And I I mean, that’s I’m not, you know, there’s nobody else that’s going to suddenly produce 30, 40, 50 goals. But, but those guys, you know what I mean? Rodriguez can give you 20. Samuel might get us 20. Marian, but you’re going to wear Marian out. He already got dinged tonight. You know, it’s just We got issues. It is what it is. So unfortunate. All right, I will see you all tomorrow at noon and then I’m going to take tomorrow night off because these two games sucked.
