He was in his bag tonight. Yeah, he he um go ahead. No, I was going to say he he was in his bag. I We need to have a conversation. We need to have a conversation. We talk we always talk about the top five backs. He was always Well, he’s in the discussion for sure. Yeah, he was he was always in the discussion. Now, based on his his small sample size and body of work so far this season, I mean, well, he the best this season. He’s been the best. He and Jonathan Taylor been the best. Yeah, I I I just want to make sure we on the same page because that’s what us and having that conversation with him being the best right now, you know? I mean, he he damn near ran damn Wait, what? My camera went out. Oh. Oh, that was you. What? What is me? Something went out. Uh Michael Pennis Jr. was 20 of 32, 25,1 touchdowns. Um no picks. Bean Robinson ran the ball 19 times for 170 yards and his career-long 81 yard touchdown run. Alier had 10 carries for 32 yards and a touchdown. Drake London 10 for 158 and a touchdown. He almost got another one right before the half but it replayed reviewed it like they do all scoring and turnover plays and it was deemed he stepped out at the one yard line. Bian Robinson had six had six receptions for 68 yards. He’s look look he can do it all now. versatile. Hey, he’s smooth. Oh man, I love I love how silky smooth he is. He put that foot in the dirt. He’s coming downhill. He gonna juke somebody in the hole. He’s he he’s feathery. He’s He’s a pleasure to watch. Josh Allen did not have an MVP night. He was 15 of 26, 180, two touchdowns, but he threw two costly interceptions. The Falcons got after him. They sacked him four times. Uh I was surprised. Oo, James Cook ran the ball extremely well, especially in the second half. James Cook had 17 carries for 87 yards. Josh Allen had six carries for 42 yards. I was surprised at how they started the game off. I thought they would run James Cook a little more early. It seemed like the second half they came out and made a concerted effort to run him and give him the ball. And you see the numbers are indicative of that. But, um, give the Falcons credit. I thought their defense bowed their back when they needed to bow their backs. They picked him off late in the ball game to seal the victory. Um, look, they was going to have to score a touchdown, get the onside kick, and then still get in field goal range with under uh 50 seconds left in the ball game, which was going to be a tall task. It’s not impossible, but we don’t have to worry about that because the ball got tipped and and the uh the backer picked it off. So, with that being said, watching Did you see Did you get an opportunity to see some of this game? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I was I was watching everything on my phone. I mean, okay. I couldn’t I couldn’t hear what was going on, but I was watching. You didn’t need to hear. You didn’t need to hear. Uh the Falcons Falcons now are three and two. The Falcons could easily They could have easily beaten Tampa. Yeah. What What I I forgot what what happened. What happened that Tampa game? Uh Young Way Co shot. He missed the goddamn He missed the kicks. That’s right. That’s right. Oh man. Hey, I can’t believe they cut my dog, man. She What you mean you can’t believe it? I mean, that’s my homie, you know. I mean, he was cutting a fool last year. Yeah. Hey, what he miss? But here’s the thing. When you you know, being a kicker is is tough. Yes. Once it goes on, you see the kicker in San Fran. Yeah. Moving. He went last year. They brought him back. He kicked the game with the night for the Bears. But sometimes you need a change of scenery. And I think somebody picked up Co. Didn’t somebody pick him up, Ash? I He’s on somebody’s practice quad. But uh but Buffalo Buffalo did not look good tonight. No, I think they came out trying to throw the ball. Maybe it was because the the the Falcons and and maybe it was wasn’t so much what they didn’t do as opposed to what the Falcons did do. Right. Yeah. Okay. Uh 22 first down to 17 Falcons favor. Uh they were two of nine on third down. Buffalo was Atlanta was five of 12. Uh Atlanta had 443 yards of total offense. Buffalo had 291. Um penalties 8 for 64, 6 for 35, but it was in two turnovers. When you turn the ball over, you you asking you’re asking somebody to beat your ass. And uh that’s what the that’s what that’s what that’s what the fal that’s what the Falcons did. It’s like hey um you know when you was younger hey go out there and get me a switch. Yeah. And the funny thing too about it when I think about the Falcons obviously being three and two Michael Penn Jr. doesn’t have to do that much even though they have Kyle Pittz. They have Drake London Ray Mloud and and and other weapons as well. But with Don Robinson running the goddamn ball the way he’s running, it takes all the pressure off the quarterback, the the quarterback doesn’t have to do much except in certain situations, third downs, where obviously you you have to throw the ball, you know, when they know you’re running. But Bon Robinson is playing so goddamn well where I I don’t think he you I don’t think people understand as good as he is. the conversations obviously him being the best back in the league even when everyone else gets back to gets back to rhythm and getting in flow including Saquon and and Christian McCaffrey and Derrick Henry a conversation still needs to be had with Bejon being in in that top five which which I mean there were about it unless you’re a Falcons fan you know last year but I mean collectively as a whole where all NFL fans are in agreeance that he’s a top five back in this league what the difference is is that you saw a lot of Saquon on national televised games last You saw Christ McCaffrey, you saw uh uh Derrick Henry, you don’t really get an opportunity to see a whole lot of Falcons game. So, he had a breakout game tonight and people get an opportunity to see what you’ve been seeing and what we see that watch the games a little bit more closely other than, you know, teams that that we root for. So, we know what Bean Robinson is. We know he can run the football. We know he’s elusive. He’s a versatile back. He can run inside. He can run with power. He can run with speed. He can catch it. So, we know maybe maybe the casual fan is just getting hip to be John Robinson. Obviously, Falcon fans and people in Atlanta know exactly who and what he is, but maybe now the outside world is just not getting an opportunity to catch up because they have had some televised games and that’s what you need. Sometimes you need televised games because if you are one of those guys that don’t that doesn’t play necessarily a big market or you have a Monday night or Sunday night game, people are not or you’re in the the big game. You in Fox big game, the four:00 game or you in the big window at CBS the 1:00 game unless you play in those games, which they’re not because normally that’s reserved for the Cowboys, that’s was reserved for the Eagles, that’s reserved for the, you know, teams like that or Pittsburgh or the Ravens or Baltimore, things like that. But the Falcons and if they win, if they continue to win the following year, normally what happens, you win and then the following year, oo, that’s when you get the games that are televised because they normally reward you a year a year later. Now, maybe, who knows, maybe the uh the Falcons get flexed and we see them on a Sunday night or we see them or or in in a situation like this, but Bejon is is is Yeah, he he that dude. He that dude. He nice. Um, how many um Russia attempts? Can we look up right quick? How many Russia attempts did uh 17 Cook have in the first half compared to the second half? Because it seemed to me, and I could be wrong, um um that he ran more in the second half than he did the first half. I mean, 24 rushing tip. Well, they only had the ball like 50 plays. Seven. I I was right. Right. He had seven in the first half, 10 in the second half. Yeah, I know. I was right. But I think uh um and it wasn’t like cuz they tossed the ball to uh to Bejian and he went 81 yards and so that didn’t take long and so you got the ball back. It wasn’t like they was having these grinded out drives that you know 12 14 plays 16 plays 20 play 18 19 play drives. They didn’t have any of those. So Buffalo got to get back to the drawing board. Um their defense is is their offense is their defense. Yeah. Josh Allen normally has to wear that cape. Yes. And when he doesn’t wear that cape, they’re a very average football team. And that’s how most that’s how most teams are driven. You look at Lamar when he does when he doesn’t have that cape on. Now he has a big bringing back, but you still have to pay attention to number eight Momes. he normally has to pay play great in order for them to win and that’s how the teams are situated now. You pay this so much money in those guys and when they don’t play well they look very marginal look very average. Yeah. And uh and that’s what happened tonight. Buffalo didn’t look good tonight. Buffalo hadn’t looked good I don’t think the last two games I think they this is the second game they’ve lost. Right. So this is backtoback losses for them Oo. And they haven’t looked good in either game. Um, Shawn Mcdermary is going to have to do better. He going to be on the hot seat. You think so? Absol. Absolutely. Absolutely. Hold on. Wait a minute. Now we talking about the Buffalo Bills. We talking we talking about the Buffalo Bills and they just got they just got approved for new funding for a new stadium, right? Um, they’ve been he’s been the coach. He’s the defensive coordinator. They got rid of Leslie Frasier. Yes. And at some point in time, the Pagoulas, they’re going to want a return on that investment, which means getting to the Super Bowl. I’m tired of being the bridesmaid. I’m tired of attending everybody else’s wedding and everybody else getting married except I. Yeah, I I just I just don’t see it. Maybe you see it a little different than me. You maybe you see it a little differently than I do. When I when I look at the Bills, obviously, they’re going to always come out the AFC East. They’re going to always do that. They’re always going to be in contention. So there’s a chance that if they will they will be maybe an ASC championship, but I wouldn’t see the Pakulas pulling the trigger that fast knowing that you already have a quarterback in place. Yes. To get somebody else to coach him. You think so? So what’s So at at what point in time do I keep hitting my head on the ceiling and realize this is as high as I can go? Damn, boy. You cuz look, I don’t care how big an animal is supposed to get, but if you can find him into an environment, he’s only going to get so big. He’ll grow to the confines of that environment. Right. Maybe. Maybe. And I don’t advocate anyone losing their job. Shawn McDerman has taken him as far as he can take him. I mean, at some point, too. It happened. Tony Dunie got fired. Oh, yeah. I I remember that. But, um, and John Gruden did what? And came in the first year and did what? With the Super Bowl. Okay. With Kehan. We saw that with Mark Jackson and the Golden State Warriors. We see that a lot. We saw that with Phil Jackson with the Lakers. It happens. Mhm. I don’t know. Especi especially especially a team like that that that that’s so high power when Josh Allen is on there. There’s certain mistakes that they can’t make in the playoffs that have haunted them. And and most of the time I hate the fact that the coaches get blamed for the mistakes that the players make and important games where moments matter most. But I I I kind of get what you’re saying, but I kind of don’t because they’re so good when Josh Allen is on when he’s off. I’m not I’m not I didn’t pay a guy $300 million for the regular season. That’s not what I That’s not what I gave him $260 plus million fully guaranteed for, right? He’s already been to the champ. How many times he been to the championship game? And we see them. He keeps losing to who? Be it Kansas City at home or on the road. It does not matter. Yeah, they are. You got to get you got to get over that hump, boy. Look, the Pagoulas The Pagoulas uh they got that they got uh uh funding for a new stadium. They’re going to have a new stadium in Buffalo. Yeah. Um and I know, look, but he wins 10 games, that’s not good. 12 games, that’s not good enough. They have underachieved. They got one of, no matter what you think of him, they got have to have one of the three best quarterbacks in football. And they’ve had this type of highpowered offense for the longest. Yes. And every year that they don’t get it done. They This was supposed to be the year they take down Patrick Mahomes. Mhm. This was supposed to be the year. Remember Buffalo went in there and beat him. They had, “Oh, we want Patrick Mahomes. We got Patrick Mahomes. He got to come to Buffalo.” He went to Buffalo, puts in them. They go to Kansas City. He put foots in them. So it doesn’t matter. At some point in time, oo, we we’ve got to we’ve got to get to the promise. Conversation. Yeah. Yes. I’m telling. Okay. I remember people told me I was crazy when I said P State is going to get tired of James Franklin. Now, the AD said exactly what I said. It played a role that he couldn’t beat the big time teams. He beat one team in the top 10 in the Big 10, and that was 2016 when he beat Ohio State. He’s 4 and2 against top 10 opponents. I say they going to get tired of that. Now you can’t beat the team that you can’t beat the big time teams and now you losing to teams you should never lose to. Never lose to. Yeah. Yeah. I mean I think a man man you reaching. He was just in the college football playoffs last year. Now where is he at now? Yeah. We we going to talk we going to talk about we going to talk about that. We’ll talk about that a little later. But I’m telling you, oo, these owners, they see in order to to beat the man, you got to feel you have a man. Yeah. They feel they got a guy that can go toe-to-toe with Patrick Mahomes. They feel they got a guy that can go toe-to-toe with Lamar Jackson, with Joe Burrow, whatever quarterback that you have in the AFC that you’re going to need to stand toe-to-toe with and come out of the ALC to get to the Super Bowl. They feel they got one in 6’5, 245 lb Josh Allen. Yes, sir. Now, the Pagoulas want to know why we keep coming up short. Okay, I I hate I hate that. I hate that the onus always falls back on the coach, especially in games like that, especially them playoffs where you’re turning the ball over, where you’re fumbling, and you know, the coach, he can’t he can’t he don’t got no control over that. But I mean, let’s that’s the business. That’s the way it works. I mean, so did they get Let me ask you a question. Yeah. Did they give Shawn McVey credit for uh when they won the Super Bowl? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Okay. I got Did they give Coach Bellich any credit for winning them Super Bowls? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you can’t get all the credit when things go well and then don’t want any of the blame when they don’t. Yeah. Cuz guess what? What you just said now? You said the quarterback that that the coach don’t fumble the ball and he don’t do this and that. But when they win, he don’t throw no touchdowns either. He don’t get no sacks. He don’t get no script sacks, no scooping scores. But he gives credit. It’s funny how they work, huh? It absolutely is. But I definitely did not see I didn’t I didn’t see I didn’t see Buffalo struggling early. Especially after the way they came back in that game that game that first game against uh the Ravens. I thought they I was like okay well and you looking at the schedule like okay and and it it’s really not surprising that it did. I know Lamar played, but seeing how the Ravens have looked since that game, it’s not surprising that they did come back and win that. Okay. It was It was only a m It was only a matter of time before the scab on that came off and and everything was exposed defensively. Now, having Lamar out, it just shows how valuable he is and how it’s like he’s taking a team that just is god awful, which which they’re not. They’re just playing bad right now. Now, the defense is bad. Even though now their defense had their best game on Sunday. Yeah, cuz the Rams are really good offensively. You got Puka, they got Devonte, they got Higgby at tight end, Kyron Williams can run the football. We know Matthew Stafford can throw it with the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Absolutely. And that defense is really, really good. The uh the Rams got a really good defense. I thought the Ravens played their best game defensively. They got no help offensively, especially from the quarterback position. Cooper Rush was awful. He was a I mean, I’m not breaking news to anybody and everybody knows that he’s been awful. Everybody thinks they have a great backup until the backup actually has to play. Hey, there’s a reason the backup is the backup, huh? Yeah. You come in off the bench, Oo, the starter goes down somewhere in the game and you come in like, “Oh, yeah, we got us a backup.” But what happens when he has to play for an extended period of time, which Cooper Rush had to do? Yeah, it’d be nice to have one that that can keep your team head above water. That’s all you need. That’s it. But it’s hard though. It It’s hard, Oo. But the simple fact is is that you can’t you know, you used to have a guy that was, you know, eight, nine, 10 years in the league. You could pay him a decent salary. Now you got to like hope the guy can develop Mhm. on your bench or you get a guy that that was that was a career backup, a career journeyman or something like that. It’s hard. Like think about it. Steve Young was on the 49ers. He just saw for years and years and years and years. You ain’t that ain’t nobody doing that no more. Oo, he sat for like he sat for four, right? Four. No. Hell no. He got there in like 87. He sought 88, 89, 90, 91. Joe got hurt in 92. Okay. And he won the MVP. They traded Joe in 93. Damn. So he signed for about six years. Joe went to Kansas City, huh? He did.
