[Verderame] On Significance of Patrick Mahomes being favored & if he wins 3rd NFL MVP

  1. It’s so stupid that we’ll always have to deal with the fact he never beat Brady in the playoffs, despite the obvious fact that he would have if not for the Dee Ford offsides

  2. Unless Mahomes has the same 3 HOF careers Brady had, we will have to just wait for the comparison.
Mahomes has a long way left to go! Hope he stays healthy

  3. Can we just concentrate on the SB and forget the MVP?

I’m sure Pat would rather have the ring anytime vs the MVP.

Let Allen and Mayfield have the MVP give us the rings.

  4. It will be Brady until mahomes wins 7 rings or matches Brady’s longevity/counting stats. At the end of their careers you might be able to count total mvps+rings.

  5. Idk man I watched tom Brady’s entire career. I just don’t see it. Mahomes is the better QB by every measure already. Yes was tom on incredible teams that won super bowls, absolutely. But the better QB? To me it’s not even close. I always say that Mahomes wins every single Super Bowl that Brady played in and I am not sure tom could have won a single Super Bowl that Patricks been in.

  6. Everyone needs to calm down with the MVP talk. Rings are what count.
We need to string together multiple games with multiple MVP performances before we go on this MVP- tangent. Even as a chiefs fan, I would vote for Baker at this moment.

  7. lol let’s slow down on the MVP talk, at least in this context. All for joking about it with “MV3 loading”, but let’s wait until December with Mahomes firmly in the lead of the MVP race (assuming that happens) before we restart the GOAT convo.

  8. Patriots fans are going to have to decide if they want to say Gronk is better than Kelce because Gronk accomplished a lot in a short time. That criteria would mean Mahomes is better than Brady.

  9. I get the argument, but the reality is it’s a different game. Brady did what he did in a very different rule set. Just like Montana did what he did in a different rule set. Unitas did what he did in a different rule set.

All were the best of their time. Comparing is stupid.

  10. I still dont think Mahomes is anywhere close to Brady on the all time list, but he is young and def could get there eventually. One more MVP wouldnt get the job done. Hard to predict how the next 5-10 years will go for him but he is gonna need many more super bowls to be a legit GOAT contender IMO.

  11. Is it crazy that I don’t care about MVP? Let’s just keep winning football games!

  12. People here underrate the MVP. Obviously SB rings are more important, but individual accolades still matter to Pat’s legacy. Surely we all want to watch him go nuclear this season and cause r/nfl to have a meltdown when he wins MVP?

  13. Omfg. I don’t care. I do not give a single fucking fuck. Super Bowls are all that will ever matter. Lamar is collecting MVP trophies like they’re infinity stones and he has zero post season positive legacy to show for it. Same can probably be said for Josh Allen too. Pat could throw for 1000 yards this season and only 16 touchdowns but if he limped the team to another title it wouldn’t matter. Just as a 5000 yard season with 40 tuddys is cool, but ultimately not as cool as a ring.

  14. He’s minimum #4 of all time. You could argue for Montana having 4 rings and 2 MVPs (6 total) and Peyton with his 5 MVPs and 2 Rings (7 total). But Mahomes is on his way. If he wins another MVP and Ring, then imo he’s undisputed #2 of all time.

  15. Ultimately, the only way he could ever claim that Title from Brady is if he wins seven or eight rings. That’s just how it is, and that’s OK.

  16. The possibilities are endless with Patrick. Literally the best to do it all time. He literally does magic on the field at times. Just gotta keep the rest of the team up to the level Patrick needs them at to get more championships and MVP’s.
