Report: Tyler Herro extension ‘doubtful’ as Heat look at 2027 FA class according to Windhorst

  1. First it was 2026 now it’s 2027, then it’s gonna be 2028. At some point you can’t keep kicking the can.

  2. He’s done nothing to deserve an extension, i’d love to hear the reasoning behind giving a scorer a big extension who hasn’t proven he can actually score well in the playoffs.

  3. I do think it’s crucially important not to overpay Herro and only extend him if he accepts a team-friendly deal. But the 2027 FA class will be non-existent by the time the 2027 off-season rolls around. Unless there’s a new CBA by then that is drastically different from the current one, any player worth a damn is going to be extended before they hit free agency. Free agency doesn’t really exist anymore for top-level players, the current cap rules and supermax contract rules heavily de-incentivize top players from entering free agency, they’ll almost always make more by extending with their current team. Building a contending team via free agency just isn’t a viable strategy anymore. I’m pretty sure the FO knows this too, this seems like it’s just an excuse for them to be cheap and not overpay Herro, who is a good but not great player.

  4. At this point we should just trade bro, every year front office acts like they don’t want him lmao.

  5. Why is everybody listening to winshorst that has no sources with the heat. The heat usually keeps their business in house .

  6. Knowing Riley, he’s waiting for another star to ask out. That’s been his thing, since, idk Shaq? He doesn’t have a plan, his plan is to capitalize on disgruntled stars. But he doesn’t have a plan once his own stars are on their way out.

  7. FFS star players just dont leave teams in free agency anymore!!!

the report is bs; its probably the FO’s way of admitting that this team isnt gonna win anything so theyre gonna completely blow it up. they cant possibly be stupid enough to believe they can get real stars in free agency, right??

  8. I’m completely confused on how the majority of this sub has been brainwashed into thinking that for tyler and tyler only regular season/ play in games matter more than playoff performances and actual results for this franchise.
