Vladdy Jr. yells out to Max Scherzer mid-inning that he’s tipping his pitches after he gives up two straight walks. Scherzer draws a double play on the very next pitch and locks in for the rest of the night.

Decided to capture this myself off the Blue Jays broadcast since I couldn’t find a video of it and the majority of viewers yesterday were likely watching the FOX broadcast, who didn’t notice this happening.
love the little “aw shucks” smirk on Julio after he’s been found out
In 👏game👏adjustments👏
I fucking love buck martinez’ baseball brain
how many other colour guys pick that out
Like a well-oiled machine. M’s gonna have to bring their best.
starting to think this Vlad guy might be good.
I’m sort of surprised a veteran player like Max would be so casual that he’d risk revealing his pitch.
I still don’t understand how Max’s move to second there wasn’t a balk
edit: I understand now, thank yall. I’m leaving the comment up so others can understand too
Based on Julio’s reaction, he definitely saw Max’s grips on his pitches lol
Crazy amount of pitch open pitch relaying happening this post season. Good on people for figuring stuff out but it feels like the increase in blocked field goals in the nfl this year haha.
the way his head snaps around is scary
Do Jays get their own broadcast because of licensing in Canada?
Twenty-something year old kid yelling at a 41 year old future hall of famer. The nerve of this kid.
2025 Vladdy is incredible. He’s been playing such a great team game all season. People kept saying his homers were down but his approach at the plate all season has been the best I’ve seen from him in his career. He used to wildly swing at sliders down and away and now he’s really taking what he’s given with way more patience. He doesn’t try and do too much and just gets on anyway he can. On the field he’s made incredible plays – throws, reads etc And he’s taken that all to another level in the playoffs. Just so rewarding to see his development come to fruition. Long may it last!!
One of the things I like about the Jays commentators is they often go well out of their way to learn about the other teams. I remember watching an interleague game earlier this year. The opposing team had a middle reliever (no one that I had ever seen or heard of before – I admit I’m a casual fan), and Buck was talking about how he had a great conversation with the opposing teams pitching coach prior to the game about how this pitcher had been struggling with his splitter all year, and that they were working on his mechanics, he went on in great detail about the topic. I don’t feel too many commentators would go down to that level of detail about the opposing team, especially if it wasn’t a starter.
I hate that blue jays team, but… I also kind of like them.
There’s just nothing like baseball.
They are my second best booth just behind GKR.
Dan and Buck are great.
I love this kind of stuff. Game within a game.
Awareness can be a big difference maker. In that weird ass double play in game 1 of the NLCS, Contreras knew exactly what was happening when everyone else was trying to figure out what to do.
nothing to add other than dan shulman has such a good broadcaster voice
In the Fox post-game they interviewed Scherzer and he was asked his thoughts on Vlad. He didn’t spout the usual cliches about his big bat etc. but instead keyed in on how smart and complete of a player he is. It all makes sense now.
Baseball is an interesting sport
That’s incredible. Vladdy is awesome
This is so cool. Such a great example of the chess match going on every pitch
Not a baseball guy. This is the first time I have actually understood what “tipping pitches” meant.
Thanks for the clip!
2025 Postseason Vladdy Jr has been a revelation to MLB fans. Glad he’s getting the recognition he deserved because he’s as complete a player you could ask for at the 1st base position.
