they absolutely should have won in regulation, but they also played really bad in OT and the Shootout
I know we got robbed but can we not play like absolute ass in OT like there is still a chance to win the game but turned it over like 3 times. No life in OT.
NHL saw the Hawks playing better this year and needed a way to steal points from them. Can’t pass up the opportunity to get McKenna here, that’d be bad for ratings.
Refs suck but this team looks better. Thats really all that matters because they’re not going to the playoffs this year. Also would be great for Bertuzzi to score a lot making it easy to dump him at the deadline.
Honestly the fact this team’s 4 losses have all been by a single goal shows the vast improvement from last season.

Furman South made one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen. Called interference!? I wouldn’t have given as much of a shit if he called the puck covered, but interference? Hawks got robbed on this call.
this one needs to be talked about. I had a conversation with a friend the other day about sports refs and obvious bias (probably due to betting odds and Vegas interference). NFL and NBA are pretty apparent
I defended NHL refs, but this was very suspicious tonight.

Should have won the game, but didnt. The wiped goal and ensuing penalty were complete BS, but if the Hawks have a pulse in the 2nd it might not have mattered.
More importantly, this team is heading in the right direction. Biggest concern is the blue line, where there isnt nearly enough speed and stick capability in the defensive zone.
Watching Connor Murphy and Vlasic on the PK is like watching two Brent Seabrooks play defense. Big, slow guys that flub pucks around and the net and done have the foot speed to get to lose pucks near the net and get much needed clears.
One of the more frustrating aspects of the Blackhawk decline is that the Hawks were one of the fastest teams at their peak. The rest of the league continued to get faster, whole the Hawks made moves that made them slower. Its been a long haul to get the team speed moving in the right direction and this team is infinitely faster at the forward position than they were a few years ago. But the defenders? They are slow and that needs to be addressed in the near future.
I cannot wait until Hughes bails on those perennially mediocre losers
tinfoil hat time- i genuinely think vancouver came into this game ready to kill Dicky (for the Chytil hit last season) & the refs decided to focus more on “game management” rather than actually calling the game

You guys have so much to be excited about. Spencer Knight is the real deal, Bedard looks so much better this year, and I also liked what I saw from Nazar.
Also, Do you guys normally play Where the Streets Have no Name, by U2? It’s very much the Canucks playoff song and it seemed like an odd choice to play it prior to the shootout.

Are all our home games this year just going to be watching the refs try to be the main character? So many weak penalties and then that waved off goal… maybe not as bad as the Montreal game but still pretty fucking cringeworthy performance by the officials. So many stoppages… regulation time in hockey shouldn’t take 3 whole hours to get thru.
