Matt Nagy is overhated imo. Dude went 12-4 and had a top 10 scoring offense with Mitch Trubisky QB1, Jordan Howard RB1, and Allen Robinson WR1. I have no doubt he would not be smiled upon were he hired here but I would be fine with it.
Imagine Arthur smith coaching style with no running game.
What an uninspiring list for the future of the franchise…what’s the incentive of buying tickets for the new stadium when you want to hire people from this list? JFC
This is her speculation. She isn’t reporting what she’s heard or has convos about.
In all honesty, I fully trust this front office to make the right hire. I just have a feeling Chad and Mike wouldn’t hire someone unless they know for sure how a certain candidate coaches and if it fits their criteria.
Meanwhile, my trust will go to absolute shit if the owner is involved in the process whatsoever! She seems to have a hand in a lot of the bad decisions made in the last decade
With all due respect to her, Russini has been extremely inaccurate about the Titans since Vrabel was canned.
Remember, she said Reggie McKenzie was the lead candidate for the GM opening this past offseason.
I personally don’t mind a head coach that’s been fired. But that would come with some caveats, I’d prefer it to be someone with success in multiple places as a coordinator who got fired and the team didn’t improve after.
Someone who has had time since getting fired you work under a good HC and learn from their mistakes.
I don’t think art is that guy and Nagy isn’t either. They’d both be terrible picks even if I don’t think Nagy was really the problem. Art is a one trick pony who thinks everyone is Derrick Henry and when they aren’t he sucks.
Kliff is the most intriguing to me. He’s done it at OC and head coach at multiple levels work different types of players. I don’t think he was the problem with the Cardinals and their offense has been nowhere near what it was with him. Their defense wasn’t really his problem though that could be him not having an eye for hiring a good DC. And Kyler still proves to be kinda mid which I think is the ultimate issue with their team. He gave the Cardinals 3 straight average or better offenses, which would be insane for us at this point. Since he left they’ve had 1 average or better offense in the 2.5 seasons and their defense isn’t as good as it was under kliff by points allowed. And he’s got to work under Dan Quinn for a couple of years now which hopefully let him see some of his mistakes and learn from them.
Either way it’s gonna be tough to nail this hire because you either take a total unknown or a retread.

People in sports media intentionally give bad takes to drive engagement.
I think getting head coaches who have had a gig, but maybe it didn’t go great, isn’t necessarily a bad choice. Maybe they learned from their mistakes?
We’re probably going to bring in a toooon of people. There’s nothing wrong with kicking the tires on just about everyone. It’s sooo fucking early in the process, no names talked about now mean anything.
For everyone hating on Nagy and Smith, Belichick and Carrol were awful coaches on their 1st try. Not saying they are them, but for some guys it takes a 2nd job for it to click and learn from their prior mistakes.
I forget who it was on radio recently but she had a good point of the OC matters more for Cam than the HC. The biggest mistake of Callahan was giving him both jobs when hes never done either. And next hire cycle should be 100% about developing Cam
Lou Anarumo has to be rage bait.
These aren’t news stories. Agents reach out to reporters and say “My guy is a candidate”. They “report” it. Aka this is meaningless.
I know not all coaching cycles are created equal but this seems like an especially uninspiring list of guys
Matt Nagy could be interesting. He did relatively well with Trubisky.
