This is a 70s something year old man who had to sit out the rest of the season because he had health issues and you guys decided to fire him. What the heck? Class act. Class act. Ron Washington, who missed more than half of the 2025 season after ongoing quadruple bypass heart surgery, will not be returning as a manager of the Los Angeles Angels in 2026. The team announced on Tuesday. Interim manager Ray Montgomery also will not get the full-time man manager uh managerial role in 2026, the source confirmed to ESPN as the Angels search for their sixth manager in nine years. Washington told the Athletic that general manager Perry uh Mina Minien told him that the team’s decision to not pick up his contract option was based on the team’s performance. The 2025 team showed promise but wound up finishing last in American League West for the second straight year 25 and a half games out of first. Goodness gracious. Dang. Washington last managed the game on June 19th when he left the Angels after experiencing shortness of breath and appearing fatigue during a four-game series against the New York Yankees. He eventually under underwent quadruple bypass surgery but stressed last month that he was in good health and wanted to return as the Angels manager in 2026. Overall, Washington is 99 and 137 and two seasons with Los Angeles. Montgomery’s option to not be picked up. After initially returning to the athletics organization from 2015 to 2016 campaigns, Washington joined the Atlanta Braves staff from 2017 to 2023.
