“The book is out on beating the Steelers defense!” The book:

  1. lol what didn’t work against the defense last night? They were averaging like 11 yards a run.

I am guessing it was harder for Flacco to move the ball in practice than it was in the game last night…

  2. Since Lebau our defense has been getting really high end personnel and let them just do their best with no playbook.

  3. I think Chase only caught like 2 or 3 slants later in the game … After he torched the defense with curls, digs, and outs the entire first half

  4. First year since Ben our offense looks legitimate. The defense begins to revert back to playoff defense

  5. When pressure isnt getting home, you have to give more space to the best tandem of WR in the league or they will win downfield(which happened)

When you give them space they will run slants, screens, and pick plays underneath you(also happened)

When you play zone defense, throw the ball at the Wilson/Holcomb spot for a free completion every time

Yet idiots will say the defense was “too predictable” or “soft” or “never changed” instead of actually watching the game

  6. I know they think their identity is pressure and sacks but when teams start just throwing slants and outs where the ball is gone in 2 seconds we have to give up on the pressure for a bit and drop 8 into coverage.

  7. Our defense is way too predictable. We have the best defensive player in the NFL and when he’s double or triple teamed, we don’t make adjustments. And no other guys step up to get pressure when they’re not facing the same amount of attention, we just let teams eliminate TJ as a threat. A new defensive philosophy is long overdue but as long as Tomlin is there, it will remain the same. Teams have been beating us the same way for 20+ years.

The Tomlin issue is like James Franklin’s at Penn State – can get the team to the level of good or very good, but never elite. Has a big ego and continues to do the same thing over and over. PSU is taking the risk, as they should, to try and get to the next level. The Rooney’s don’t have the ballz to do the same with Tomlin. If he wins 1 wildcard game this year and gets blown out in the divisional round, the Rooney’s will claim Tomlin showed he “still has it.”

Big changes are needed on both sides of the ball for the Steelers to be contenders. Big changes that probably can’t be implemented during the season. But the Steelers will probably sneak into the playoffs like every season. You know, have some big wins to give us hope while then losing to bad teams like the Bengals.

  8. LB spot drops instead of route reading and matchup zones = losses. Same story since the Brady days.

  9. D line sucked. Corners sucked. Coordinator sucked. D sucked. And they take the lion’s share of the budget.
