Semi Final 1 | Demon vs Blackhawks | IHV Senior D | Ice Hockey

Welcome everyone. on to O’Brien Ice House for some ice hockey victoria action and it is the senior D Finals. The first game we’ve got is um the Demons taking on the Blackhawks. My name is Michael by Figers. Welcome Fig. Thanks Clo. It’s great to be here. Yeah, one v2. We’ve got the Blackhawks who finished first in the standings up against the Demons who finished second. And I must say Cloy, I’m very excited about this one. And the finals have been very close on most accounts today, but the last time these two teams faced off in the regular season. Nobody won. It was a three all draw. So, there’s no draws tonight. This has to have a result. You are correct. So, whoever wins tonight will go straight through into the grand final. And I think it’s going to be a bit of a barn burner. So actually looking at the tables um so both teams actually finished equal on 17 points for the competition and the Blackhawks finished top will get the last change on account of having Speria wins. Eight wins to seven wins. Yep. So Blackhawks eight wins, three losses, one tie. Demons seven wins, two losses, three ties. So that’s B that is was the tie break between these two sides. in the mention earlier uh when they met early in the season as well. It was um three all tie. So the winner of this game will go straight through to the CD grand final which will be on Monday the 7th of October and the loser at the end has a short turnaround. They’ll be back here on Monday. Yep. To take on the um the winner of the next game we’ve got coming up in the second bowl between the Jets and the Ice W. So for whoever loses today, it’s not all over Red Rover for this season, but certainly you want to be you want to be winning this one so that you can come in as fresh as a daisy for the grand final and just know you’re there. You’re not and know that you’re there. Yeah. So moments away from the opening faceoff. Shake in the faceoff circle for the Demons in the red. Daniel Duncan in the faceoff circle for the Blackhawks. Quite a size difference between the two competitors in the faceoff dot. He’s closer to the ice. That means he’s going to win, right? Well, that’s part of the logic, but the uh Blackhawks now have the puck. Duncan gets the puck and that play will be on side in the corner. Temple pass back to the point. Successful shot comes in. That’s just a little bit wide. Now Eley nearly turned that one over an escape back and retrieve the puck now for the Demons. Gets it off to Bird. So Bird fires, shoots that was blocked and it’s going to be cleared away for the Blackhawks. Two solid entries and no shots on yet. So shot comes in and Briett is that’s Gary Griffith the starting goalender for the Demons. So Weeden just couldn’t trap that puck and will have to skate back. Get the puck once again. It’s able to clear and here’s a chance now for the Demon. Shot comes in there from 943 94 number 43 Lachlan Roads. I trip my own words and Jessica Negs made the save. So she’s a starting goalender for the Blackhawks. Yeah, she had a fantastic game the other night just getting warmed up for this final. Uh so it’ll be good to see which of the two goalenders is going to come out winning tonight. So Blackhawks with the puck in the neutral zone. Griffith will just play that puck on allowing the the Demons to keep the play alive. Cacero now checked away by Patterson. Roads should get to the puck first for the Demons and does. Pass the slots’s a good one. And here’s a chance now for the Demons, but uh no shot was able to be made on that occasion. And the Blackhawks will clear once again. Yeah, that looked like it was Blatman in the slot. Couldn’t get his stick on the puck as we have an icing call and uh that will stop the the Blackhawks from making a change as the Demons will skate back to their offensive end. Uh Blackman in the slot on that last play. almost got a shot off but uh his stick was lifted well by the Blackhawks defense and uh Chicherro throwing the puck down deep to get the entry. So from the face off and it’s indispute at the moment but Patterson will get there first for the Blackhawks just kept in there by Cavalo who sends that one into the corner. John Lake managed to clear the zone for the Blackhawks. It’s going to be a foot race. Gorier will get there first but has in the end beat been in the park by Jackson Michael turned over. Demons haven’t been able to clear the zone. Goes out wide but again Blackhawks you do keep it in. Blackhawk player just blocking the shot of his teammate from the void. So Chumla just uh bumped off the park. That was one of those rare occasions where they both came in and bounced off each other equally. So now a foot race. The Blackhawks will win that one out. That was good. Could have played off the boards. Eventually the Blackhawks do clear. got another foot race and leading it will be Bennett for the Blackhawks. A slight little poker poke attempt by Wyatt. Good play there by the Demons defender tying up the stick keeping him occupied not giving him a clear lane. So now goes out wide and looking for Wyatt. Finds White, blows the tire. Now pallet goes out wide to all. That’s going to be sent into the corner and Manning will escape back and retrieve the puck now for the Demons. He’s touched. No icing. play on the but Donan fire shoots. Brriffett makes the save. Looking to clear all keeps it in. Oh, good keep in allows one of the defenders to get a change and Patterson with that change managed to win that foot race with the fact was in the box seat. Didn’t have to stretch too much. Yeah, fresh legs and he didn’t even need to spend them that much. though it’ll come back into the Demon’s defensive zone and the Blackhawks will have an ozone face off for the first time in this game as we’ve seen the goalender uh make a couple of saves but has decided to play the puck instead of getting the uh getting the whistle and kill the player who unable to clear for the Demons. Blackhawks have the park. Ricky Garov and Manning has it now for the Demons. Atlet pass was blocked. Here’s a chance now for the Blackhawks. Gregorv out to the slot. Shot comes in and that’s in the back netting. That shot by number 13 Ivan Kulovski. Kulovski I think is probably the closer to corre correct pronunciation. Kulowski. Kolowski. So, it’s going to be a defensive zone faceoff now for the Demons. Has cleared away. That will be an icing call. So, straight back to the Demons defensive zone. And uh well not the worst icing call to give away because you’ve just come straight off face off. So in terms of burning energy if anything um feeling a bit tired that’s that’s good icing to have. Make the opposition go chase the puck. Face off one by the Blackhawks but it’s going to come straight back out again. So Blackman will cross the blue line. Players on side. Gets a shot away. Megs makes the save. Easy save from Megs there from distance. Dang fire shoots. That may have been better down by Patterson. Yeah, luckily it was just wide cuz that would have made it very difficult for um yeah for his goalender. So Patterson, James Patterson for the Blackhawks. Outlet pass was a poor one. Unsuccessful and that’s just kept in. Good effort in the end. That was by Roads. But it’s a chance now for the Blackhawks as all was trying to fight for the park. Then lost possession to Deng. He was very quick to direct traffic there. Smart communication with his teammate in the D. The Demons look to clear and they will through Cacero. And that will be an icing call. So the Demons uh either by choice uh or by accident are certainly giving away a icing calls at the moment. Yeah. And uh given the fact that this isn’t like uh other leagues where you can you you get the icing and you go the other end of the ice, but you can make the change. There’s no change for the offending icing team. So uh you don’t want to be doing it too much. So Paris Johnson with a shot in the tip there and in the end a good save made by Brriett. Yeah, very well played by Griffith. Saw it through traffic somehow. Deflected the puck up into his hand and it looks like we may have an injury on the ice. Yeah, looks like a leg injury or a lower body. Certainly avoiding putting any weight. Yeah, that looks like number 15, Chris. Oh. And uh our officiating team, we’ve got uh Brian Johnson, head of head head referee, as well as Norman Yan, who you can see helping him off the ice, and uh Sean Hobbs down at the faceoff dot. We hope that all’s okay as we have the face off in the Demons defensive zone. So from the face off, White has it for the Blackhawks and I went align. Yeah, player just plowed straight through him and another players nearly took out as well. But the dangers of doing the lower divisions, I think, um, control isn’t always the, uh, premium, shall we say. But once again, we’ll have a another icing call against the Demons. Yep. And I mean, this is the thing. Getting it into your offensive zone for this game so far has been key because it seems as though getting it out of the D zone has been the hardest part for most of these teams. Once it’s in, it’s very hard to get a clean break out. So, battle for the buck moment. Patterson got it for the Blackhawks. Risma, that was blocked. And Patterson will get it back on the defensive side of the red line. And this time it’s going to be nice, but it will be against the Blackhawks. And for those of you that are tuning into ice hockey for uh may maybe early on in your viewing career, uh if a player pass shoots the puck down the length of the ice on the defensive side of the red line, which is the halfway mark, that means that it’s called icing, and we bring it back down into their defensive end. Oh, stick goes flying. Yeah, stick goes flying, but the play will continue on. That stick is in a very awkward spot right in the slot. Nie did nothing about it actually. Should have kept it away. I mean, got to be careful with that kind of stuff. Ah, it’s Yeah, it you could shoot it and it could work out for you or it could ruin a open net chance. So, Deng now goes out wide. Oh, good touch. Now Bird skating onto the puck for the Demons. Eley also there in the corner. Will skate back and get to the puck. Dang at the point. Wasn’t able to get it. Was just going to be cleared away. That was by Barbuto. That’s good coverage by Bird coming back help out the defender who was pinching to try and get the puck in the ozone. So pass on the wrong side of Eley on that occasion. Here’s a chance now for the Blackhawks, but the pass couldn’t find Chumlac. Great job by Dang breaking up that pass. Now just fires a net and uh Megs makes the save. She looked a bit stunned there. Didn’t know where the puck went. I think um was going high, didn’t dip, I think the way she expected cuz she went low, probably too low and got her on the shoulder. Yeah. Well, you look it sounded like it got her in the face possibly. Although that said, doesn’t look like when we say go low, um that’s she doesn’t have to. She’s not tall. No. No. She’s about my height. For those who aren’t familiar is short. Correct. Correct. What do they say? Short king. Isn’t that what the kids say? Cloy, I don’t know what the kids say nowadays. I’m I’m past the age where I know what the kids are into. Yeah. I fall in the category of clueless uncle. The fun. The fun uncle. I try to be, but uh results may vary. But back to the hockey and uh pellet will skate onto that now for the Blackhawks getting it out wide. That was Rollson. Sends that one into the corner. Played in the corner. And I think it’s going to be Rollson again with it. Pass back to the point. Not a bad idea. getting their first Weeden for the Demons. Cazero has it now for the Demons. He’s trying to work way through two Blackhawks defenders. Then bounces off the boards, but there was no one at the point. And the Blackhawks have been unable to clear. Weeden with the block. Pass was probably just a little bit too hot. Good idea occasion out towards Roads. Per pass to the slot looking for Blackman who just couldn’t get there in time. He had two demons coming in. Chichiro and Blapman or Chichiro I do believe. Chichiro is it? Chichiro like a Italian or something. Yeah, Italian. Oh, great defense there. Is that Manning? Yeah, Manning out their passes being just kept in on that occasion. I think that was Bennett. Kudos to both teams. The defenders on the blue line have been great at keeping those stray pucks in and keeping the pressure on the defensive team. So, Wood now for the Demons. A bit of a knuckle shot that may got blocked on the defensive stick on the way through. Jackson Michael for checking there. You say that with a surprise and tone in your voice. No, no, no. Good move here by the Blackhawks player. Shot comes in and that shot was wide by Kulovski. So Patterson at the point once again just knuckle balls it to the low slot. So White back to the point. Another shot comes in. That was wide. I think that was by Good. So Patterson, he’s tied up there by Jason Vandesloo’s player goes down on the puck. They’re digging away for it and eventually they strike gold and the puck gets out of there. So White now with the puck for the Blackhawks goes out wide. Good. There’s a chance here for Bennett. Pass into the slot, but nobody was home for the Blackhawks. He’s only got uh three shots to two in favor of the Demons. No score so far. 2 minutes 23 left in this first period as well for Johnson. That’s crossed over the wrong side of the blue line and Good will go back and retrieve the puck now for the Blackhawks. Yeah, not a great pass, but they had a lot of space to deal with. Oh, turnover. Shot comes in. Makes great save there by Jackson Michael. Now Paris Johnson will skate the puck out for the Blackhawks, fires, shoots, and Briett makes the save. Starting to see some good quality offensive chances here for both teams. goies both up to the task and pallet will go back and get the puck now just just north of the defensive blue line for the Blackhawks and across the blue line is was just a lineup. It was almost like a um identification lineup on that blue line. The usual suspects all all there. So attempt to clear that was by Bird Johnson clears his zone for the Blackhawks pass. Well, it was just too hot in the end. And Weeden now sends it into the zone which you can chase. Now the Blackhawks rink white pass should work out as pallet will get there first. Happy to play it off the boards. It clears the zone and here come the Blackhawks once again as that sent into the corner. 56 seconds left in the first period. So Weeden get is getting onto the puck. Weeden again is just able to clear the zone. So Bird has it now for the Demons. Skates into the corner pass of the low slot. Igorv hasn’t been able to clear. Got blocked. Chaml now has it for the Blackhawks. Takes a defensive blue line and just ra the wide pass. But uh that was a poor pass in the end. Bird has it. Bird in the corner. Tide angle attempt. Another tie angle attempt. Dang will get there first for the Demons. Fire shoots. It was blocked. Here’s a chance now for the Blackhawks. Gregorv skates in delay. He’s got a stick lift. Got a well and he got donked on the head for good measure. So he got stick lift. Couldn’t get a shot away. And the reward was bang dong bucket to the noggin. That was an incredible play. Great defensive backing there by the Demons. Lifted the stick. I think it was was it David Deng got negated the uh negated the uh breakaway there as we see the shot coming in from Blackman late in the period. There’s that shot that was in front. But at the end of one period, it’s nil all between the Blackhawks and the Demons and not much separating in the shot count. I mean, it’s a very low shooting game uh in regards to, you know, how many shots have actually made their way through to the goalender, but I think you would say, Cly, that so far it’s been a pretty evenly balanced game. While we did see a lot of icing from the Demons, it was counteracted after that little period where they were dumping the puck um by the Blackhawks where they where the Demons actually started to get a bit of offensive opportunity. And in the last couple of minutes, I think you could say that that was probably where both teams kind of woke up a little bit, started skating a little bit faster, um, started getting shots a little bit more accurately on net and just throwing them down low. It doesn’t really matter if they’re up high or down low as long as you’re getting them to the net and putting pressure on the goalender. I think both teams will be pretty happy walking out of that with a uh with a nil or score. It’s probably a fair reflection of the game, but and there hasn’t really been many chances. We did see probably in the last five minutes, so the quality of the chance is starting to improve. Uh both goalenders faced some pretty good chances that they managed to save, but the shot count at the end of one period was 6-3 in favor of the Demons. Yeah, we we’ve seen some good long distance passing, but also some picked opportunities. So, both teams will be wanting to take care with those long passes. Make sure that they’re on the tape. So, Pug and Disputing Neutral Zone from the face off now. It’s Blackman has the puck for the Demons, but he’s turned it right over out towards the wide who takes the red line, will take the blue line and then just send that one the corner making it a foot race. Weeden will get there first for the Demons. batting the half wall and Good gets a shot away. Now Weeden looking to clear the zone and does for the Demons to Patterson with the puck. So Weeden Blatman has the puck now for the Demons. Left it behind. Scott Weeden will go back and retrieve the puck. Bobbling puck there for Blatman. Oh, and then Blackman takes a tumble, loses the park. No call cuz I don’t think there was one. I think that’s probably a fair fair non- call on that occasion. Yeah. So, roads for the Demons will send that one into the corner. The good Jackson with the shot from a rebound. Another S shot comes in and a save on that occasion there by Megs. And uh that was I think it was number 43 Lachlan Roads with that last that secondary attempt. Yeah, really good work there by the Demons just getting a shot on net and then Meg’s getting that second opportunity after she gave up the rebound. I have it on good authority that her butterfly is exceptional. Fluffy, a goalender told me that the other night. Oh, we’ll have we’ll have to keep an eye on that, will we? Yep. My producers laughing at us. So, I don’t know. I’m not a goalender, but I trust I trust the goal. Some people say butterflies are beautiful by default. True, true. Or you do my my job. And butterflies are a useful tool. Yes. Shot comes in there by Gagor and Briett makes the save. Good blocker save. just got enough of it to get it get it going wide. Chance now for Jackson Michael skating in trying to cut the middle lane got blocked and then blew a tire. Right idea but uh possibly one move too many in the end back gets a puck back now for the demons that got touched. So, no icing. Yeah, no icing call. Battle along the half wall. And now Paris Johnson has the park for the Blackhawks. Just goes out wide, fires, shoots, and Briettford with the save. Duncan now for the Blackhawks. Passes the slot looking for Johnson, but it was intercepted on that occasion. I think that might have been Ro. Matter of fact, it was Jackson Michael believe with the block there. Now Weeden pass back the defensive point. Duncan trying to get the pass in to the center lane. Now it’s the Blackhawks with the puck at the point. Pass to the slot. It’s a good one. And a couple attempts there and Gorov with a good one and then a tip to help it on its way. But Briett was all over that one and made the save. He’s been good so far, especially this period. So, Wood happy to concede some territory. I must say, Cly, I’m noticing the shift length is quite long. It’s more of an endurance game by the looks of it. Well, this is the uh the period of the long change. And now you mentioned that Demons will make close to a full line change. Yeah, got to be careful with that when the opposition has the path. But is this um once you get to this level, the long change can sometimes force longer shifts? Yeah. Because just the the the players and their skating, they can’t make get to the long, you know, the make that distance to the bench as we’ve got a stop in play. And I think we may have an injury coming out of this one. Yeah, that looked nasty. Um, I think he got caught up in the Blackhawk player and then kind of fell forwards as we see here on the OSM live replay. Good check there. Turns around as the Blackhawks player went down. Yeah, it’s just got caught up. That’s Ganuk. So, yeah, Shay Ganek. Um, is it Shay Ganek there is the player coming off? Yes, it is. Yeah. Yeah. So, she’s coming off now. Feeling a bit in the shoulder, which doesn’t surprise me. You sort of saw the the movement and all the weight sort of in that arm dragged her down as well. So, I’m just glad it wasn’t like a head pinballing situation. Even those ones, I’m glad it’s also not a dislocated shoulder, which can happen quite easily. A shot comes in there by roads. Megs with the save. And uh that was Rollers. Pass out wide to Patterson looking to clear the zone. Gets it out towards John Lake. I think that is nice move. Protected the puck with his body and chipped it in. Now Dang, Gavalo. It’s going to be cleared away. And skating back, it will be Patterson. He’s just being coralled there by Roads. So Patterson burns off. Roads gets it to Bennett. Roads will get the puck back now. Dang. Support at the blue line. Just kept in on that occasion by Bird. Battling with Patterson for the puck. Donan just coralled there by Ciro and Roads will skate onto it for the Demons. Pass is a good one. It’s worked out. Here’s a chance now for the Demons. Ciro decides to play it behind the net into the opposite corner. Blackman should get there first for the Demons in the end. Good defensive work. Oh, on that occasion by Pallet. That pass was just a little bit too hard trying to get Blackman. Blackman has gone through the crease. Weeden will keep it in for the Demons. Shot by Woods got a deflection on the way through. Pucks loose. He’s a chance and the shot hit the side of the net and that was by Nicholas Piro. Good job by the goalender there sealing off that short side. It’s always a bit concerning when you’ve got the puck moving across from left to right. And that’s hit the back netting and has found its way over the glass as well. That puck. So, we’ll have a face off. Yeah. And as we’ll see here on that replay, there’s that deflection in front. Meg’s got the first save and then just sealed that off. So, there really wasn’t much opportunity for Chichiro to get it past her. shot it wide anyway in trying to elevate it and now we’ve got an ozone face off for the Demons. So faceoff has been won by the Demons but it’s going to be cleared away and a good clear that was too by I think it was Bennett there. Yeah, was it Barb but doesn’t matter it’s been cleared away and it would be an icing call but in the circumstances not a bad result there for the Blackhawks. Yeah, I mean you’re trying to clear the zone. Um, usually if you if you try and lob it a little bit, it won’t make the length of the ice, but uh, who knows? Maybe same again. So, Demons win the face off again. Jackson Michael shot was well wide of the target and a battle in the neutral zone. Puck just forces its way through and it’s going to be cleared away. Jason Vanderlow. Yeah, Vanderesley’s in the uh in the Ozone having a few words with one of the Blackhawks players. Oh, here we go. Vanderlo has the puck now. Poke checked away from in play. Probably would have been offside anyway as Manning will go back. Pass out towards Wood. Wood up against one defender. Pass out wide. There’s a good setup. Shot comes in. That was wide there by Fantasize. And in the end, Megs didn’t have anything required to do on that one. Weeden will send that one into the corner. Gorv pass was looking for pallet but in the end forced banks to do something about it and then a dangerous pass and they got deflected in goender was up an alert for that one. Blackhawks are their own worst enemy at the moment. That’s two shots on goal from the Blackhawks against their own goalender. So Michael will send that one deep but it’s going to be cut off there by Jared Pallet. Goes out wide. Here’s a chance now for Barbuta for the Blackhawks. Barbuto just cycles into the corner and goes through everybody and skating back now will be Ricky Good for the Blackhawks. Yeah, there was a player on the blue line on the left and a player on the blue line on the right and he passed it straight through the center. Bossley now for the Demons turned it over. A see just a little bit too up for Gagor who in the end gets the puck but good defensive work there by Deng Gavalo now for the Demons looking to escape the puck out of the zone. Clears it out. Oh, good. Got lucky there. Oh, so good. Great protection of the puck by him as well. Nice move. Here’s a chance now for the Demons. Shot comes in there by Bird. Got the pass that was actually shaken act with the good work. And good to see her back on the ice too after um the collision earlier. That’s not going to make it for icing. No, falls short. Here’s a chance now for the Blackhawks. Duncan tried to get the shot away, but that was blocked right off the stick. Battle along the half wall. Blackhawks are trying to shoot at the other end now. So, Patterson has crossed the blue line. Shot comes in. That was a bit of a rocket of a shot too there by Dom Chumlac. caught the post. Might have got a bit of the goalender as well. I think Griffin did get a piece of that one. Oh, battle in the slot there. Keep an eye on that. Duncan. And there was a battle in the slot as bodies were flying everywhere. And the Demon should be able to clear the zone and will pass out towards Brun who will send that one into deep just behind the net. Getting there first. Well, it’s been left behind. Oley got a shot that was just wide. Hit the side of the net. Yeah, defense of the Blackhawks needs to be better. There’s a couple of big opportunities that have been given away. So, Weeden Roads over skates it. Cachiro has it now for the Demons. Just strolling in. Thinks about the pass. Decides to go with the backhand attempt instead. Megs with the save. Yeah, not a lot there for Chichurro. Oh, bat along the half. We got a flying stick. Play. Oh, I thought he didn’t know the stick. Parrot Johnson just hiding the stick somewhere. Just tucked it in. Here’s a chance now for Wyatt to skate onto the puck and does. Chiro keeps it in but crosses the blue line. And Manny now will have to wait for everyone to get back on side. Sends it deep. Paris Johnson with the puck for the Blackhawks. That was blocked. Here’s a chance now for the Demon. Shot comes in. With the shot. Megs with the save. Clutch save by Megs. And then Blackman just got a pass across the crease, but no one was home for the the Demons. Roads has it now. Checked away from him by Bennett. Roads gets the puck back. One man army. Roads. Chuck comes in. It’s in. Demons get the first goal of the game. And that’s Jackson Michael. I believe he’s been working hard and it has paid off. What a fantastic one-time as we see here. Roads taking on the whole Blackhawks team. Feeds it to Jackson Michael in the slot who one times at five hole and puts them on the board first. 13 shots to seven in favor of the Demons. One goal nil in favor of the Demons as well. And that last set you mentioned, that’s the important one. They got the first goal on the board. And given it’s come relatively late in the second period, you wonder if that the game is going to start to really open up more as uh the Demons a look to get a second to give themselves a pretty comfortable buffer. Yeah. And also for the Blackhawks now know that they just can’t sit on the game. Nope. There’s no there’s no defending when you’re in behind. And Meg’s got a piece of that one. Grigor pass was blocked. Oh, just kept in at the blue line. So, paddle in the corner. Vandereslo and gets it out towards Cavalo back into the corner and uh it’s going to go from one corner to the other before Patterson should get on to it. But Jackson Michael battling in for the park and wins that race. tried to pass back to the point unsuccessfully. Eventually does find its way to the point and the shot comes in from a distance. Somebody wants one of his teammates to get over with the pass out towards Duncan. Duncan has the puck. The talk’s starting to really pick up out there on the ice. It’s a good temples wide just at the side of the net. And you are right figures. You’re starting to get a bit more talk now from uh I think particularly the Blackhawks. They seem to be the real real talk chatty ones. Get the energy going. Looks like I going to get waved. It’s going to get waved off as that race. There was Jackson Michael and then he’s beaten to the park there by Ricky Good. The Weeden will send that one into the corner. Some, you know, some that can happen at all levels when someone does that on the way off and someone’s already committed to going on. Yeah, they’re already on the ice. Not in that case though. So 14 shots to eight in favor of the Demons and the most important as you said Cloy one goal to Neil and that’s in favor of the Demons. So if the scores remain as they are Demons are going straight to the grand final at this stage but there’s still 18 minutes of hockey to come and it’s only a one-goal game and the Blackhawks are going to be starting the next period the final period on the power play with Chicherero going to the box for roughing. So, it’s certainly going to be an interesting period as both goalenders have been absolutely fantastic so far. The one goal given up by Jess Megs was an absolute dart. A one-timer. It’s a It was a load to high play as Roads, we see it here. Roads fought off all the defense just from the bottom part of the faceoff circle and then Jackson Michaels smashed it home. So uh and there’s that last save there by Brriett who got just enough of it to make it go high and wide. But as you said, 18 minutes, a lot can happen in hockey in 18 minutes. So, only time’s going to tell whether this goes to overtime or uh if the Demons can hold it off or maybe maybe the Blackhawks have a turnaround. So, Nicholas Ciro is making his way to the penalty box as the Demons will start the third period short-handed. And the way Jackson Michael was playing has been playing tonight, you could just feel that something was going to go right for him at some point. And it did. It certainly did. So from the faceoff one by the Demons, but it’s the Blackhawks on the power play. Good defensive work on that occasion there by Jackson Michael. So it’s still a power play for the Blackhawks. 5v4 as the Demons do clear the park. So they’ve been good so far on the ben kill of the demons. Shag to to name names has been absolutely fantastic. So from the face off, it’s in dispute, which works out well for the Demons as Jackson Michael makes his way back onto the ice. So we’re back to five on five hockey as Johnson goes out wide towards pallet. Now Bennett Bennett trying to go out wide to Gagor. Gagor nice plays, shoots it the side of the net pass to the uh the top of the crease, but no home pallet now. just firing it looking there for a tip and Wyatt got a piece of that one but Brit read that well and got himself in good position. So now Wyatt couldn’t get a clean shot away. The idea was right just delay tried to to give it a bit of air. Now Eley for the Demons twoon-one pass and in the end was too hot in that occasion for Bird. That’ll come all the way out into the neutral zone untouched. to Jackson Michael nearly left the puck behind and then blocks it back over the blue line. Yeah, that worked out all right. I don’t know how, but it did. Managed to get himself back on side and then took the puck, but then lost the puck. And here’s a chance now for the Blackhawks. That will be well a pass attempt was blocked by Dang Gorev. He’s been good this period has trying to battle for it. Puck is loose and uh it will be Ganak again who’s had a very good period but unable to clear the puck on that occasion. I like the little jump on the puck to uh make sure that it was covered. As we see here, Jackson Michael had the puck stripped, bounced off him straight back into the ozone. uh ended up getting taken out by the Blackhawks, but and so the Demons win the face off. So Roads will take it over the blue line. Goes out wide, gets a shot away. The shot attempt was wide and Megs will have that one covered and we’ll have a face off. Yeah. So, face off down in the Demons def uh offensive zone for the first time this period as we see that shot low percentage blocked by the goalender and then gave it the people’s elbow. So, now with a shot that was blocked the way through then the skills pass a couple of demons who couldn’t keep it in the zone. So Weeden skating back. Get it now for the Demons. Pass out the pass. Blatman was the only player there who read where that puck had was going and where it had gone. cuz when you see the puck go down below the goal line. Usually it just comes straight back and hits the back of the cage, but not on that occasion. His initial shot was so far wide that it uh ended up working in his favor because of Yak. Totally planned. Totally planned. Totally planned. Deliberate. Been practicing that in training. So Wyatt shoots the puck there by Deng. Johnson’s attempt. Wood blocked it with his face. Nearly took out a teammate with a pass that was a little bit high and a little bit hot. Yeah, we’re starting to see the puck really fly around. Players getting in the way trying to block as many shots as possible. That’s going to be called offside. Barbuto there with the handling error. Yep. Norman Yan picking up the puck as we see here. The hit. Oh no, it got him in the shoulder blade. Did it uh then at the other end, Jackson Michael shot bouncing off Jess Megs. So Ganak with the puck for the Demons. Good play by the Blackhawk there. Tokadak has the puck, fires, shoots, and that was just a fraction wide. So, Manning couldn’t get the puck in the ozone. Gigorv checked away. Good work there by Ganak. Barbuto lines up, shoots. Another chance there for the Blackhawks. But hit the side. Shot by attempt by Duncan and skating to that one now. Will be Bird for the Demons. Just bumped off the park. Still Bird gets the puck back. Pass to the low slot, but nobody was home there for the Demons. Ganak. Puck spills wide. Eley has the puck now. Good out towards Patterson. So Barbuto has the puck now for the Blackhawks. Good defensive play there by Dang. Shot comes in and that was by Good. That was blocked. Kept in there by Barbuto. But Dang is going to clear straight away for the Demons. So Babuto clears the ozone. So Dang. Now we’re down to 8 minutes and a twogoal lead to the Demons. Yeah, this is the time where the Blackwalks really need to start stacking shots on, keeping it in their offensive zone. When it’s in their Dzone, that’s just shooting opportunities that aren’t happening. So Duncan with the puck just stops. Did well then that one in the corner was intercepted on the way through by Cavalo to Johnson. Good lucky nearly a little bit of mis communication between those two. of John Lac. That’s the second time that the Blackhawks have stopped up short of the blue line. They need to chip that puck in and chase it cuz Chumlak is struggling to get back up. Looking a bit ginger there. So Johnson Weeden had the puck then lost it. Got the puck back again. Michael to send that one deep. Body pressure on the puck this period has increased. And well, Fler did well to get that puck in there towards Michael. Chent was blocked and it’s gone out of the zone. So, the Demons have to get themselves back on side. But right now the Blackhawks are struggling to clear the defensive zone. Yeah, not the way that they want to be playing this one. Wyatt now goes out wide. Nice idea. Just couldn’t quite find Kolosovski. Now Jackson Michael onto the puck for the Demons. Poked it away by Paris Johnson. Gulovski now for the Blackhawks. Takes the blue line. Fires, shoots, and a save there by Gary Griffith. And an easy glove save there by Brriett coming from distance. No screening in front from his teammates. Good defense. Makes the easy save and gets it in the bread basket. But the Blackhawks have it in their offensive zone and Kloppy, that’s what we’ve been banging on about for the last 5 minutes. So, they’ll be they’ll be wanting to make the most of this opportunity here. So, Barbudo is getting onto the puck now for the Blackhawks. Took on two demons and lost. Good air towards Barbuto. has to wait for him to get back on side and will send that one into the corner. Cavalo will get there first for the Demons. Now Wood just overcotted there by Jackson. Mark Duncan with the puck for the Blackhawks. Blackhawks really struggling through the neutral zone to try and get any pressure up at the blue line to try and get those entries in cleanly. You’re seeing three players hanging back at the defensive blue line. One of them has the puck and the other two are just hanging out watching to see what’s happening. If they’re going to start to get opportunities and entries that are clean and controlled, they need to have that third player pushing up. Even if it’s a defender pushing up through the neutral zone, through the center, creating some passing lines that they can take advantage of. So, Demons with the the faceoff win. That’s going to be cleared away. Gulovski make it a foot race for Barbudo to get there first. Been coralled by Manning and Ganak and did done really well. Didn’t Shay Ganak won the park. Sent it through the opposite corner just to cool the temp temperature but then turned over. Good all work in return by Kulowski. Duncan fire shoots. Packers loose. Pucket still loose. and scrambling diving to try and glove that one was Briett as it was Babuto just over stepped over the puck. Now here’s a chance for Bird just bumped off the puck. So, Manning Chaml and that’s going to be caught offside as it caught Giggorv um on the way through as he’s trying to get himself back on side and cuz it’s a offensive offside. Uh it’s been brought back into the uh defensive half for the Blacks. And it looks like we’ve got a timeout. It’s two goals to nil. Demons in Demons in the lead. 17 shots to 13. So the It’s not like one team’s been shooting more than the other. Blackhawks catching up just a little bit, but like we’ve been saying this whole period, Cluffy, they’re the Blackhawks zone entries have just not been clean. They’re starting to do that thing where they pass it across ice from the neutral zone into the far corner, which is working out about 50% of the time. But they need to start getting those controlled entries, giving the passes in the defensive half some lanes for them to pass up ice. Get it heading towards the goalender at the other end of the ice. Just get some shots on cuz uh if you’re trailing in shots on then you’ve got even less chance to be tying it up. So, Couterro now will send that one deep just wide of the net. Gorev pass is being picked off in that occasion by Bennett. Chumlac will send that one in the corner. Gavallo plays along the boards. Chumlac has the puck. Nice little pass out towards Gorov. Oh, Bennett just couldn’t get a clean shot away, but the idea was right with the pass to the top of the crease. Oh, bodies flying everywhere. There’s going to be no penalty call coming out of this one. The Blackhawk player just lost his footing. Fell into Cherro. Oh, and well, in the end, I think that might have been Gov and got the shot away. It was Brier who had that one covered, but how much that was a shot and how much that was just moving the puck along. Well, that’s why you put the puck towards the net cuz good things can happen and he didn’t really have that convincingly covered. Bennett actually got that last touch under it. Bennett was good that shift getting right up into the goalender’s face putting some pressure on. It’s what they need to see. So dang with a big bang off the glass. So 152 left in the third period and in this game. So it’ll be in stop time scenario. It’s going to be cleared away by the Demons. But at what stage does Jessica Megs make her way to the uh the bench? Yeah, that’s a good question. Two goals down. They need to do it sooner rather than later. Yeah. To to give them the opportunity to a get it up ice and b actually get some decent opportunities. I think it’s must be once once they get in their ozone. I think that’s the time you got to go. I’d go now. Now now’s the time to go. In fact, that’s what’s happening. Me’s making her way to the bench. So, and then they got a line change. That’s a poorly organized line change on that occasion there for the Blackhawks. And it’s all demons. So, Michael just tried to get it in the direction there of Wood. couldn’t quite find Casey Wood on that occasion. Still a battle for the puck and if nothing else, it eats up time for the Demons. Eventually Johnson gets it out for the Blackhawks. 57 seconds and that’s offside. Anyway, credit to the Demons. They have been absolutely smothering the Blackhawks offense this period. We’re talking about how they haven’t been able to get any clean entries, and you can credit that to the to the Demons just playing really solid defense through the neutral zone, putting the pressure on, making them have to come through with absolutely no mistakes and it’s working very well. So, Blackhawks win the face off. They’re good. Just couldn’t work through um three Demons defenders. Good play. Backers loose. sees a chance now for Bennett and covering that one will be Gary Briffett and he’ll have a face off with 40.8 seconds remaining. Time fast becoming the enemy of the Blackhawks tonight. Yeah, Scott Weeden and uh Bennett had a friendly little shake up in the uh in the crease there. Good move by Bennett. Gets that shot on. Makes the goender make a desperation save. Faceoff one by the Blackhawks. Glosski with the shot. Also, there was a shot by Good and a scrambling save there by Brriett. Went with a two pad sack. Kept in. Been kept in there by Patterson. Golovski to the slot. Shot there by Barbuto. Griffith got a piece of that one up. Wasn’t able to glove it. We’re down to under 20 seconds remaining. And Eley just fires in the direction of the net. And that will be an icing call with 12.8 8 seconds remaining. But I think now we’re moving into the period where with two goals in 12 seconds, you’d have to say it’s going to take a miracle for the Blackhawks even bring this one to a tie. Would you say a miracle on ice? Yes. Um they’re going to need to win the face off cleanly. Pretty much get a slapshot on net and in. So Hosley now it’s going to be cleared away by Weeden over the blue defensive blue line and that will be it. The Demons end senior man well senior D division will progress to the grand final on uh Monday the 27th. And what a great win for the Demons. Goalending was just wonderful by Gary Griffith. Uh didn’t make any mistakes this evening. Uh a couple of scrambling saves, a couple of big double pad stacks at the end there as uh the empty net extra attacker was out there and just well played by the Demons to get in front early and just defend the lead solidly. It’s a great tactic. They say that the two goal lead is the worst lead in hockey, but you’ll take it over a two two loss any day of the week. And uh at the other end, Jess Megs was also fantastic. Uh just a bit of a a bit of a brain fart at one point. Couldn’t find the puck after a bounced off the backboard. That was the second goal. First goal was just an absolutely beautiful goal. as we see some of the OSM live replays here. Blackman shooting in and Cloy even though it was a 2-0 victory and uh you know a shut out for Brriett certainly not the season’s not over for the uh for the Black. Absolutely not. Shots were 17 a piece so it was all square there. So, the Demons, they go to the Grand straight to the grand final, which will be on Monday the 27th of October. Yep. Um the Blackhawks, they’re not out of it yet. They they’ve got a short turnaround. They’ll be back here on Monday night to take on the winner of the second semi-final to be coming up from 9:00 Melbourne time. And that’s between the Jets and the Icewolves. Yeah.
