Nobody Understands What Patrick Mahomes & The Kansas City Chiefs Are About To DO… | Film Analysis

I feel like nobody really understands how good the Kansas City Chiefs are about to be. I know the start of the season wasn’t great, but when you take a look at this offense, right, in a vacuum and realize that they are missing their number one wide receiver, the best route runner on this football team, it is going to get a lot scarier as time goes on. And I’m not really too shocked about it. Right now, right here, we’re going to get a little bit of priest motion from Travis Kelce. Now, usually if you’re a really smart quarterback, what you’ll do is you will not only go from a read here, but you also read this linebacker. Now, we’re going to run kind of a clear route and we’re going to run a stop route over the middle of the field right here with Travis Kelce. They run this a ton. Now, as we drop back, we notice Alex Analone blitzing. You always want to throw to that blitzing side if you have something sitting over the middle. You just have space in that zone. So, he drops back, gets the ball out early. Now, yes, we take a four yard pickup, but what people don’t understand is when you can take what the defense gives you, sometimes those four or five yard dump downs can turn into 10, 15 yard plays, right? Even touchdowns at times. So, right here, Travis Kelce makes two guys miss. Look at this move here, right? Acts like he’s going to spin to the outside shoulder, gets two guys to overcommit outside, and then boom, turns back the other way. And guess what? picks up 15 yards on this play off a blitzing um ble blitzing weak side backer, right? Beautiful job. We’ll take that every day of the week. And Pat Mahomes uh in this offense, they were really good in this game. And what I wanted to do was kind of break down some of that film for you guys, show you what they’re doing, and show you why they are going to be really tough to beat with Rasheed Rice coming back next week. It’s going to be so much fun to watch. So, hit the like button, subscribe if you want more Chiefs content, and let’s dive right in. All right, another really good throw by Pat Mahomes. We’re going to fake a handoff from left to right. We’re going to bootleg out to the right side. We’re going to have a stop route to the top side and we’re going to get a crosser and I think more of like a post or clear out to the bottom side of our screen. Now, this ends up working out so so well because we sell this little um top end hitch at the top right act like we’re gonna throw it. We can move this safety a little bit just in that direction. This guy starts trending in over here because he doesn’t want Pat Mahomes to run. So, now we get a little window to throw this ball back across your body to the crosser, right? And look at the throw, right? It’s a dart. It’s a laser. gets there just in time and then boom, you get a missed tackle and you move up the field for a 30 yard gain. 30 yard pick up there for Juju Smith. But this is a really good throw by Pat Mahomes. It is so tough to throw across your body in the NFL. But to throw across your body plus have the the acceleration on that football, right, the zip on that ball to get to where it needs to be before that deep safety bites down and picks it off, this is tre tremendously difficult. And he does it with ease. Great job by Pat Mahomes. You just you we have to respect his game. For anyone that is a Pat Mahomes hater, man, just hey, respect it, man. He’s We’re not going to have him in the league forever. Respect the greatness, man. It’s amazing. Look at this by Xavier Worthy. So, they’re in press man coverage here. Now, obviously in these situations, we like to run the like these rub routes, but essentially here, you’re going to see Worthy kind of back up and just trend over here immediately instead of taking that first step up. Now, you may ask, well, why why does he do that? Well, take a look at this, right? They’re going to try to jam Xavier Worthy off the line with 21. I think that’s Amique Robertson, the former Las Vegas Raider. I think it’s him. Might not be. I could be wrong, but either way, he tries to jam and Worthy does not take that first step up. So, he whiffs right. Boom. Now, we set that little rub to slow down the corner even more. Wide open. Perfect throw. Touchdown. I mean, dude, get cooked off the line. Look at him gets cooked. Oh my. And then the awareness by Pat Mahomes to understand right away. He wins off the line. Rub works out pretty much perfectly here. Puts the ball in the money. Not too far back, not too far in front. Allowed him to turn up the field. Easy money right there. And again, guys, we can post a part two. Hit the like button. I mean, just take that alone um and use it, right? It’s amazing. But let’s go through some of my picks. I’m going to start off with Bejon. I like Bejon today to just get a lot of passes. I think Buffalo’s going to go up early. So, let’s look at his line of 115 and a half rushing and receiving um yards. And I’m going to go more than just 100. I think he’s going to catch the football a ton in this football game. I also like Josh Allen rushing, but I’m going to keep it at 25 and a half. Go more than 25. I think that’s fair. Um, you know, the Chicago Bears run defense is not very good at all. We’re going to go to rushing yards, and I’m going to put it at 50, more than 50 rushing yards. I think that’s another one that’s pretty fair. Pretty fair. Um, one more. I want to go Kyle Pittz. Darnell Mooney, I believe, is out today. I could be wrong, but 25 receiving yards more than I feel like is pretty fair. So, Bejian rush receiving. Uh, Josh Allen rushing. Jakori 50, Kyle Pittz 25 plus. I feel like that’s fair. If you put 20, you can win 50. Obviously, you can put a lot more. I like playing really safe, but if you really want to go for the moon, you guys can let me know in the comments down below. And again, use promo code dubs. Get that free match deposit. You’ll get up to $100 on your first deposit. Terms and conditions apply. Um, see Sleeper terms of use for details. Currently operational in about 25 different states. So, make sure you guys check out Sleeper today. And again, code dubs. Okay, crazy play here. I’m going to call this 30 personnel. I know these are tight ends, but they’re lined up in the back field. So again, if you guys don’t know personnel, we could break it down really quickly. You don’t see 30 personnel too often. You could have 11, you could have 12, you can have 21. The first number is always going to represent the backs in the back field. I see three. Um, the second number always represents tight ends. Again, you can call this 12 personnel if you really want. I guess it technically is, but since their lineup in the back field, I’m going to call them backs because they could get a handoff. So, on this play, we’re going to fake it to the running back. You’re going to see him kind of act like he’s going to go block and hit the flats. We’re going to run a corner. We’re going to run a um another corner over here, more deeper, and then we’re going to get a crosser over the middle of the field. Okay. Also, we’re going to bootleg outside the pocket after the fake handoff, after the play action. Look at the precise throw by Pat Mahomes as we get instant leverage into the second level. You see 23 turn his back. You know we can get this ball out, but it has to be out now, right? So the ball comes out perfectly and look at the placement of this thing. Beautiful. Gets down to the one yard line with Travis Kelce. I mean, dude, the throw on the run like rolling outside the pocket to make this throw, dude. One of the best I’ve ever seen in terms of quarterback play. What is it a debate? Sure. With Tom Brady, but god, dude. The the the throws this dude makes, you just don’t see it too often, man. That’s why I respect his game so much. Look at this play by Pat Mahomes. First thing we notice, priest motion. It is zone coverage all day long, right? We don’t see anyone cross the formation with Hollywood Brown. Now, we’re just going to be running like this crossover the middle because we know this is zone coverage. We know these linebackers, their job is to specifically read the quarterback’s eyes, right? They’re going to be dropping back and their hook curls, but they go where the quarterback’s eyes go for the most part, right? So, as we drop back in the pocket, we’re going to quickly look to our right. You see them move over pretty much instantly, right? And then boom, they’re sitting here, sitting here trying to look. Once we get behind the second level, this becomes wide open. Now Pat Mahomes already looked it off. He’s looking to the outside with Isaiah Pacheco, but that’s not really open either. He’s going to pump fake it, right? Gets outside um of that defender’s grasp, right? Boom. Resets his feet. Look how he doesn’t panic and run outside the pocket and scramble here. He continues to look down the field off the broken sack. And then look at Hollywood sitting wide open in the second level of this defense. No one even near him. wide open. Beautiful job. Wish we could have put down the money to see him catch or have a a potential after the catch, but it don’t matter. I’ll take a 20 yard pickup. I’ll take it. Right. That is beautiful. Beautiful job here by Pat Mahomes. Goes to a full field read. Doesn’t love anything until he resets in the pocket. Great job. Okay, here we go. Another big time play here. Let me actually take it back. We’re gonna have a little bit of pre- snap motion, but it’s fake. what we’re just seeing is it man or is it zone coverage. Nobody really crosses nor do they really communicate a switch. Um so that kind of tells me this is a zone coverage. Now the scheme here towards the bottom side of our screen is we are running a clear route. We are getting this DB away from the flats. Okay. Get him away. Go. Right now here we’re just going to be running a quick out route. They’re giving us off coverage in this zone. Let’s say he’s responsible for the flats. He’s playing way too inside. Right. We have the opportunity here. And look at him. He’s going to stare at him. He’s like, “Oh yeah, this is what we’re doing. I know my wide receiver here is going to be able to clear out. We’re reading one to two.” And boom. Balls out early, right on time. Turn up the field. Get 19 yards out of this thing. Beautiful read, man. Look at P Mahome’s eyes, too. He’s going to look up the the seam, right? His eyes are looking directly at this man’s soul. The reason being is because he wants to keep him in line. If we were to look at Noah Gray right off this thing, he would be moving in this direction. Okay, so Mahomes is literally manipulating this guy to stay in that zone and then boom, fire early. Love it. Another great play here. We’re getting a distraction or kind of some eye candy to the outside here as if we’re going to fake this little swing screen. We’re going to get our kind of cross over the middle very vertical here and try to take away as many guys as possible. From there, we’re going to break to the outside and then we’re going to run another shallow cross over the middle with our guy Hollywood Brown. Now, this this is where Rasheed Rice is going to be really deadly, but doesn’t really matter because Travis Kelce does a good job, right? First thing we see, this guy bites down on this little swing to the running back Isaiah PCO at the backfield. Now, from there, we got so much going on that these guys kind of get in each other’s way. And we are trying to get rid of this guy, get him to back up as much as possible as we free up this shallow cross over the middle of the field to Hollywood Brown. And you see that linebacker take a deep approach to this thing. Don’t know why. Looks like he’s just manning Travis Kelce on this play. Let’s actually go back. So, where is he? He’s right here. Yeah, just get gets beat early. So, it looks like he’s in man. Oh, yeah. This is all all types of screwed up. So to me it looks like you probably got man. I can’t even tell what happens here. Yeah. So they whoever goes to the outside he got now he’s he’s responsible for Hollywood Brown. These guys get all tangled up. Looks like just man coverage. Beat wide open. Wide open. What a play. Um, all right guys, we’re going to end the video here. There’s still so much more to break down, especially on the defensive side of the ball. 1. The o line is protecting Pat much better than the last couple years and he's bringing it. 15 tuddies to lead the league through 6. This is their best team in a while and they'll be a force to reckon with.

  2. Reality is nobody has film to even look at this year on how the Chiefs use Rice. They can look at years past and have an idea maybe. But Andy's going to use this in a special way I think. Excitement is guaranteed. Keep watching!

  3. CORRECTION; Rice is not the best route runner on the team. Kelsey, JuJu, Hollywood, are all experienced, effective, and better route runners. Keep in mind that Rice is still young, and the best is yet to come. Go Chiefs.

  4. Did you notice; the play you analyzed at 8:30, and following, see how the defense mis-covered. Rashee is tripled, leaving JuJu open. Thanks for your passion for football, especially….THOSE CHIEFS. Pastor Greg

  5. Rice is basically…….younger DEBO…..faster…lighter….less experienced DEBO! It’ll take a couple weeks to get the timing and feel for the game…….by mid November…….a monster!

  6. I love how all the chiefs haters are saying "well the lions had a lot of injuries" Those same hater never said 1 word about the chiefs O having injuries, they just said "the chiefs are done".

  7. The Lions were missing their starting DB's and that last example seems to have showed how much. Be interesting to see how Chiefs do against the Raiders, they are not missing all the pieces the Lions are.

  8. I’m excited to see how the field opens up with Rice back. Defenses will be forced to choose their poison. Either they get a one hit KOed by the deep ball with Worthy and Thornton or slowly bleed out from a thousand paper cuts underneath with Rice and Kelce.

  9. That "30" personnel package is reminding me of UNLV's gogo formations. I hope they explore more options or of these types of formations. I believe they can manufacture successful running concepts out of these formations by holding the secondary with 4 strong to one side while having a running advantage to the other side with a tight end, lead blocker in the backfield, and an optional motion blocker coming from the strong 4 side slot.

  10. Right. None of the NFL Hall of Fameers and ex-players and coaches understand but he does🙄 I tell ya’ boy, the ”YouTube elite” is a special bunch 😂
