THE HERD | Colin Cowherd RIPS Fans Who DOUBTED Kansas City Chiefs GREATNESS | NFL

take Hollywood Brown and Guju Smith Schustster and backup left tackles and okay running backs and get into the 30s. Xavier Worthy with any other team would he be this good? All they do is make it work. Andy Reid is the great chef. He’s the Gordon Ramsay. Everything in the kitchen has a role. Let’s just keep tinkering. Let’s keep figuring out a way to make everything work. put it into our ecosystem and let’s make it flourish. By the way, this is what Kansas City does every year. When you get into these big games, they play differently. No penalties, no turnovers, one punt. Whine all you want about the penalties. Well coached teams, Bellich and Brady, did this for years. They don’t turn it over and they don’t get penalized and they don’t pump much. The NFL seasons are incredibly long. You can’t overreact to 0 and2 or three and three. Again, get people healthy. Make everybody count in the kitchen. Three weeks ago when they beat Baltimore, everybody said, “Well, the Ravens are beat up.” Yeah, right now. So is Tampa. So is San Francisco. A lot of teams in the NFL are beat up. Doesn’t matter with this defense, this play calling. People get distracted. The NBA is about talent and appeasing the star. The NFL is about the O line, the defensive coordinator, about the entire system, and it’s about the culture. This is a locker room of 53 guys, not five that really, really, truly matter. And here’s Kansas City. They keep tweaking, add a little salt, make everything in the kitchen work. Prime example last night when their offensive line, the first couple of weeks, offensive line, it was it was messy. It was not very good. They had no running game. O line was bad. Last night, despite the Detroit Lions having a 10-minute opening drive, Kansas City one time a possession with this offensive line that was a bit chaotic and a bit messy five weeks ago. And I know you don’t want to hear it, but Rasheed Rice is coming back. The receiving core now. All right. Worthy is a two. Guju Smith Shuster’s a three. Hollywood Brown is a gadget four. Oh, that’s a And with Mahomes and Reed pulling the levers, that is a way above average receiving court. Travis Kelce again in a big spot. He arrives. So, this is what Kansas City does. First three weeks, very choppy. Last three games, 32 a game. Okay, I am about to lose my mind right now. It’s Monday. Can’t we just wake up and have a regular day? Colin is lecturing everyone on not overreacting, being 0 and1, 0 and2, 0 and three, you know, whatever the heck numbers he was using when he is the one that said it’s over. Dynasty over, Super Bowl window over, Kansas City Chiefs over, done. Now he’s saying, “Don’t overreact everyone. I know you don’t want to hear it, but blah blah blah blah. He had been leaving him leaving this team out of his herd hierarchy every single week. I’m the one that says, “Hey, let’s stop this right here. I’m going to have the Kansas City Chiefs in the top 10 herd hierarchy. I know he has them out, you know, blah blah blah blah blah.” Now I can’t I can’t believe he just lectured everyone on overreacting earlier on in the season and now he’s just like this is what Kansas City Chiefs do. Unbelievable. This is why it’s so great to be consistent because now I get to have this take. Listen, I’m the one that had the Kansas City Chiefs as a top four team when they were winless. I’m the one that after they lost to the Jags, I still had the Kansas City Chiefs as a top four team. Like, and when I say top four team, like they were at the highest tier, so they could either be one or four, honestly. And had the Jags still below them, etc., etc. The 49ers, all the teams. But winning this way, how they won, I’m more impressed with the Chiefs defense than I am about the Kansas City Chiefs offense. The Lions defense is decimated with injuries. That much is very clear. And we can say, “Oh, all these other teams have injuries and this right.” Yeah. And the 49ers showed it against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, you you do have like wide receivers four or five making diving fingertip catches. So, so, so just saying, “Oh, everyone’s got injuries.” to me is always the laziest analysis because under that logic then you should say well the Kansas City Chiefs should have found a way to win week one and week two because they had injuries and suspensions and they could not then they get worthy back etc etc and now things start to look a lot different. So players matter. Stop pretending that they don’t matter. And Kansas City Chiefs can’t say, “Oh, well, you can’t say that about the Lions, right?” Like, and and say, “Everyone’s injured.” Because that was your literal excuse before when they were losing the games earlier on in the season. Well, Rashid Rice is in here. Xavier Worthy’s not here. And it’s a justifiable explanation. It really is. So, you got to offer some of that to the Detroit Lions. You have to you have to offer some of that. You have to be consistent. I’ve been so consistent that the biggest most diehard Kansas City Chiefs fans came in the comment section, especially after the Jags game and was like, it’s over. Season’s over. It’s done. They’re not even going to make the playoffs. And I was like, I think you’re overreacting. And he was like, no, I’m not overreacting. This just you win, I lose. You win, we lose, I think is what he said. And I was like, I have the Kansas City Chiefs as a top team. And I said, I still think they’re going to make the playoffs. and he’s like, “Nope, not happening.” So for everything’s left is right, right is left, up is down, down is up, blue is green, green is red, orange is yellow. I mean, like, this is just I can’t believe Colin just opened up this show telling everyone not to overreact about the Kansas City Chiefs and whatnot. I just I I I don’t believe that. I I I Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. And then the other problem with the Detour Lions offense is is that they’ve only looked great, and I said going into this game, this game is going to be so fascinating and really fun to break down. Um because the Kansas City Chiefs offense hasn’t looked great against a great defense just yet. And the Detroit Lions offense hasn’t looked great against a great defense. And you know, and and all the other variations that you can look at that through. Um, so it is it is it is fascinating. I’m I’m I’m still mostly impressed with the defense for the Chiefs, less so the offense because the offense is always going to find some way to be successful and this is still not the main offense right now. Um, but you know, in typical Andy Reid fashion, uh, he had people w I mean wide open walk-in touchdown for Xavier Worthy. uh they they they were able to really do whatever they wanted throughout the course of that game offensively. Uh and so we’ll be fascinated to see what happens as soon as Rasheed Rice is there and when they actually face a great defense, but I don’t know if that exists right now. I I I just saw online like that the the you know the one NFL meme page which is pretty funny. Um it showed like a like a picture of um Oh my god, Dwayne Wade. I think it was Dwayne Wade and he was just like and then you know it’s just like me trying to figure out who’s good and who’s bad you know six weeks into the season me trying to figure out who’s good and who’s bad this year and that is really how it feels. It’s like I I don’t know which team has a great defense right now. I don’t even know which team has a great offense right now. It’s just like the competition seems so tight but for different reasons than I thought at this point. Um and so I don’t have any degree of confidence. Um, but I do have a degree of confidence that the Kansas City Chiefs are um the the the most executed and most prepared team in the NFL as that’s what they’ve been for essentially the last decade. U and so that is that is always going to put you in the best possible situation to win. Always always always. Um, and I was excited to see the Lions take on the Chiefs again, specifically the the offense more than anything cuz I knew the defense was hampered. Um, and the offense did not answer the call in that moment. And that was my that was my concern for the Lions. It was like, yeah, you know, we we people got extra excited because of what the Lions looked like against the Ravens. And then it was like, and in hindsight, that Ravens team is an absolute mess, especially defensively. And so then and then when you look at, you know, what the Lions did against the Bengals and these other lower teams, you’re like, “All right, you know, that was impressive, but like of course they can do that.” And it’s like, well, how do they look against the Packers defense? H not as good. How did they look against the against the Kansas City Chiefs defense? H not as good. And it’s not to say the Lions aren’t good. It’s just like those those are things that you have to wrestle with. Uh you those are things that you have to figure out. And now to be fair, the Lions were the Lions were right there. I talked about this in my postgame clip. Um the score is both representative and not representative. Um if if you do have a couple things go differently, uh there is a pretty dramatic swing in points for the Detroit Lions, but the Kansas City Chiefs were able to execute essentially every single time and every single drive. And the Lions were not. Uh the Lions were not. And at the end of the day, that ends up being the difference more so than anything else than than than than anything else than any great throws or uh great play calling. It’s just here’s what it is. Can you execute in this moment? Like even the Lions finally getting like a a pretty nice stop, but then a roughing the passer on Patrick Mahomes first down. You know, like those things are crushing. Those things end up being absolutely crushing. Um, but uh I’m sorry, man. I just I can’t believe we all just got a lecture about overreaction about the Kansas City Chiefs and said, you know, I just Oh my gosh, unbelievable. Un unbelievable. But those are just my thoughts. I’d absolutely love to hear yours. What do you guys all think about the Kansas City Chiefs taking down the Detroit Lions 30-7? Let me know in the comments below. I read every single comment. 1. my take on the injuries goes back to last season, Chiefs literally lose Hollywood Brown in the first preseason game who didn’t return till December. They lost Pacheco in game two versus Cincinnati then the following week versus the Chargers they lose rice in the first quarter.. in addition to that had no stability at left tackle DeAndre Hopkins and Kareem Hunt. Neither we’re on the team until weeks five and six yet people were ragging on the Chiefs because they were barely winning games and after all that they still make it to the Super Bowl albeit they got blew out as far as this season goes prior to the ravens and the Lions playing the Chiefs most analyst we’re still picking both of those teams over the Chiefs, knowing that they were injured. That’s where I say. Hey, you knew they were injured, but you still picked them over the Chiefs 🤔

  2. The concern for the chiefs that we as fans need to see improvement on as the weather gets cold and shitty is run defense.

Who’s the chiefs dlineman who can eat up space and multiple blockers to let our LBs loose now? Nnadi got blown off the LOS 8-9 yards on multiple plays vs Detroit and quite frankly looks terrible against strong olines. Pennell was our answer the last 2 years but they cut him and drafted an undersized Norman-Lott that doesnt seem to be a run stuffer as much as just a pass block win rate guy on limited snaps. There is no one that fills this role.

Wharton and Pennell added a toughness and size combo to the Dline the last few years that is really missing right now.

If a team was smart enough to run the ball 100% of the time I don’t actually think the chiefs would stop them.

  3. Chiefs fans can say whatever we want haha. When said "we're losing because of injuries to our top offensive players" 31 fanbases said "No, Mahomes is washed"

When we say "you can't use injuries as an excuse" now, it's not because it's not a valid excuse. It's that YOU, as a CDSer, are not allowed to say it. We've never been inconsistent, because we aren't filled with jealous rage and resentment.

(Not literally talking about you Julian)

  4. Your facial reactions were great! 😂😂😂 Cowherd was the first to say the dynasty was over. He led the charge. The Chiefs lost those games cuz they made more mistakes than the opponent.

  5. Colin talks out of his @$$ every week. It's one thing for opinions to adjust when teams win or lose games, but Colin constantly does 180's, then acts like he was right all along.

  6. That's not a die hard chiefs fan if he said it was over after the jags game. A die hard chiefs fan would know the chiefs could still make it to the Super Bowl and win it after the jag lost.it's a long season. GO CHIEFS!!

  7. 5:41 this is true but the problem is everyone still picked the other team, that’s probably what most people are trying to say. EVEN WITH BALTIMORE INJURIES, THEY PICK THE RAVENS, EVEN WITH THE LIONS INJURIES, THEY PICKED DETROIT. Now they making excuses, that’s the point we are trying to make as chiefs fans
