Chuba Hubbard: ‘I’m glad to be back’ | Carolina Panthers
J, if you’re able to give input to how this could work with you and Rico, what what might that be? I mean, I can’t say what it’s going to look like exactly or how it’s going to be. I’m not the coach, but obviously two great two great backs. Um, anytime you can put us on the field, like I said, I mean, let’s do it. Um, obviously we have some young guys as well that are doing great job, Trevor. So, I think we we joke about it sometimes saying have a three back set or something like that, but uh stuff like that would be fun. No doubt. So, you wouldn’t mind being out there together with him is what you think? No, I mean, I think that would be uh very lethal. That’s something I I’ I’d hope for. After watching how good this running game’s been going from the sideline, just how excited are you just to get back out out there in there? Yeah, I mean uh I’ve said it week in and week out, I’ve been itching to get back out there. Obviously, everybody from the offensive line, tight ends, receivers, of course, Rico, Bryce, everyone just done a great job. So, um I’m glad to be back. This is a two back set. We didn’t I don’t think we saw a lot of that the first four weeks, but is whether you call it the pony set or the two back, is that something you think really could y’all could sort of spring on the rest of the league, so to speak, because you hadn’t shown it earlier? Yeah, I mean, I definitely, like I said, I mean, anytime any of us can be on the field, I think it’s a plus. Uh, having both of us, I think that’s a plus plus. So, um, yeah. Um, I’m not the one to, you know, give any details or too much out, but yeah, it’d be it’d be cool to see. No doubt. To be honest, none of this really surprised me. Rico is a great player. I mean, amazing player. He’s shown it throughout camp. Every time he’s been here, he works hard. The opportunity came, he made the most of it. And, um, yeah, like I said, it’s not a surprise. He’s a He’s a great player. weird right now. That’s kind of weird to ask. Yeah, I mean, um, like I said, Rico’s done an amazing job. Um, he’s shown his best with the opportunity he’s given. I know throughout the rest of the year, he’s going to do it over and over again. And like I said, I’m blessed to have the guy like that in my room. Obviously, you know what the two of y’all can do, but do you ever peek over a little bit at like what Detroit does with Montgomery and and Gibbs getting them both on the field? I mean, I’ve never like just solely watched them, but obviously I’ve seen clips of them. Both those guys are obviously really talented, too, and compliment each other well as well. So, um, they definitely figured out a way to get it done and attack guys the best with those two guys. But, um, like I said, I think me and Rico are different than those two guys. Not not to take anything away from them guys, but um I’m looking forward to obviously working with him. This is a Jets defense that does still have Quinnon Williams right in the middle of it. What kind of a challenge does he present? Do you have to run at him away from him? What’s the No, I mean obviously Jess defense is great, especially their Dline and the secondary linebackers from top down. Uh it’s a fast group. They fly around. And I think the biggest thing that we’ve done every single week, uh, especially the last two weeks, is just attack, attack, attack, attack, and and do what we know we’re good at. So that’s the plan. Dave talked about being a rhythm runner and getting multiple series. You kind of come off in between series, you’re able to see what the defense is doing, responding to you. Can you get that same information when it’s Rico or is it sort of back dependent? Does that make sense? Like are you able to sort of glean some of the same things on what the defense is doing depending on the back or is it sort of consistent no matter who the run. Sorry. Sorry. Formulate that a little better for me. I’m not quite. So, so Dave was saying that because we asked rhythm runners, right? Like staying in the game, you get information when you come off to see what the defense is doing. Can you get that same information? If you’re not on the field, then you’re saying you’re watching. Correct. Okay. Okay. I get what you’re saying. Yeah. I mean, um, as a running back, obviously, I think the more reps you get, the more esteem you kind of pick up. But, um, I think the the best ones, you know, regardless of what happens, as soon as they get on the field, they make impact. So, um, like I said, I’m not one to say what the count and stuff’s going to be, but I know me and Rico will do well. I mean, obviously, we’ve had a lot of injuries, unfortunate injuries. Um, it’s always next man up mentality, and those guys have stepped up and and and done a great job. So, I think it’s just trusting the process over and over and finally seeing it come together. Uh, it’s a it’s a good site. Speaking of the offensive line, what has it been like watching Damen Lewis just road great people the past couple weeks? Yeah, I mean Doo is I mean if you ever seen him in the weight room, he’s a monster. Um, he’s real quiet, humble guy, but um a monster. A monster. A big a big guy. That goes for all our offensive line. dynamic in that running back. I know we talked about it. Talk about the relationship in that room. Yeah, I mean in all honesty, every single running back room I’ve been in, I’ve had great guys, great teammates, not just great football players, obviously everyone’s that as well, but also just great people, great human beings. And one thing about it is we all want to see each other succeed. So, um, before any of this football stuff, we’re joking around and doing dumb stuff in the in the running back room. Uh, we’re friends before anything. So, yeah, we have a great dynamic. How hard has Trevor advocated for his first touchdown now that he kind of gave one up. Yeah, he’s hungry for it. I I was the same way though when I was young. So, it’s coming though. It’s coming. He’s going to get it soon. Have you been in any dual running back systems in your career? Um, I guess I guess closest thing was probably me and Deontay Foreman. Um, my my second year, me and him kind of had a little back and forth there and obviously that worked out well. So, what what do what what type of things help that to prosper? Um, I mean, just getting us on the field. I think, uh, as you’ve seen, obviously getting us on the field, uh, equates to great things. So, uh, yeah, I’ll just say that. Do you get advice from Jonathan Stewart? cuz I mean he was in one of those too. Yeah, I mean Jay Stew’s been an asset to me ever since I’ve got here. Uh OG for sure. Um no OG for sure. But um he’s a great guy. Always uh asking me different questions, giving me input on things. So definitely fortunate to have him. Uh everything he got obviously Steve is a coach Wilar is a is a great guy. Uh have a good relationship with him especially when he was here. Um, I know that he uh is he’s aggressive and likes to call his shots, so it’ll be a good challenge. I’m looking forward to it. [Music] [Music] against the Lions. I know you said Steve. Yeah, I mean I think uh obviously based off how we’ve rushed the ball the last two weeks, they’re going to try to shut that down and try to make sure that doesn’t happen. But we’re we’re going to come back and attack great with that. And uh like I said, it’s going to be a good challenge. Coach Wils is a great coach. What’s that smile about? You talk about I mean, Coach Wils is a great guy. Um like I said, had a great relationship with him. Um he uh obviously gave me an opportunity here when he was here, but um anytime you get to go against him, it it’ll be fun. So, I’m looking forward to the challenge. [Music] Heat up [Music]

Dowdle was doing his thing, let’s keep dowdle in 😂 for real. Especially against the bum ass jets
Ride the hot hand.. I’ve seen chuba just fall over with no one around him
he just a drama man and just because we haven't shown it don't mean we not going to use later in the season
Bro make dowdle rb 1 like not even a question
Double to trouble is back
2 good games against the worst 2 defensive teams in the league is not a reason to build dowdle statues.
Stfu david Newton one of the most dumbest reporters we've ever had
Chuba and Rico duo is going to look scary
0:56 that was a stupid question
Newton is an idiot who always try to start drama out of nothing, Wish he would cover any other team and im sure the players feel the same, they just have to deal with his BS..I feel sorry our players bc they have to deal with him
Chuubbba! Im hyped bro lets go!
Smash & Dash frl finna be back.. keep sleeping on us NFL
Ending a question with “I know that’s kind of a weird thing to ask” to a great professional football player is crazy. The drama is rediculous. Nobody asks the lions running back who Montgomery and Gibbs who’s starting. They are going to be great duo, let them be a great duo
#KeepPounding
Rico lined up on the right, chuba on the left is a must seee
Happy your healthyy brother lets ride Rico and you can make a IMPACT when you are needed play hard play SMART PROTECT THE FOOTBALL! 💯💯🏈
