POST CAST: Wild Penalty Kill Still Shaky in 5-2 Loss to Dallas #minnesotawild #mnwildhockey

Well, uh, turns out that penalty kill is, uh, still also work in progress, much like the five on five scoring. But you know who isn’t a work in progress? Matt Baldy. And how about Zam tonight? fun one to see those two even though the Wild lost 5 to2. I hate losing to Dallas. Uh we have a lot to discuss here for uh tonight’s game, including uh continued issues with the front of the net, which reared their ugly head once again here this evening. And we’ll talk about uh we’ll talk about the lineup. [Music] You are Locked on Wild Postcast, part of Locked On Minnesota on the Locked On podcast network. Your team every day. Minnesota Wild lose by a final score of five-2 to the Dallas Stars to fall to 2-2 on the season. Uh, Alex Mleti joining us for a late postcast here tonight. And u, Alex, I I mean, we’re still trying to iron out what has been a big issue for this Wild team. So, instead of uh instead of continuing to uh to bang the drum for that to start, we’re going to start as we uh are going to with these postcasts from now on. Let’s start with the standouts. Uh we got to start first and foremost with Matt Baldy who had another goal, power play goal on a nice deflection out front. Um 10 shots on goal. And you want to talk about a guy who has been just great to start the season and really looks like he has taken what he did in the postseason and just elevated. Matt Baldy certainly looks like he has. And uh I you know I saw what he he had another seven shots that were attempted that could have been on net too. He was just just an animal and uh you know it doesn’t uh it doesn’t matter who he plays with. It uh you know it just seems like he’s locked and loaded and um you know he’s taken his summer training to heart and come out you know with a bang. I saw someone tweeted that, you know, he scored in that last um Wild playoff game, too. So, it’s basically like five games in a row with the with the goal for in the regular season. So, they’re going to need that. Um, you know, if they if they want to get back to the playoffs, they’re going to need, you know, he his production to continue. And, um, I thought Ze Boyam was actually even better than Baldi. You know, that that’s saying a lot. Zeve just looks more and more comfortable out there and especially, you know, we’ve talked, you know, quarterbacking a power play is is so difficult and uh he’s starting to starting to show a lot of strides there. So, yeah, it’s uh um you know, but it’s it’s just it’s so frustrating, right, to you know, you’re you get back into the game and then they just you know, they get the get the empty net there and then the second one it doesn’t even even matter. But, uh, you know, good good effort, uh, on the on the back end of a backto-back. At the beginning there, it, uh, it it seemed like it was going to be like five, six nothing. So, I’m glad they hung in there. Um, at some point though, they got to figure out Dallas, Colorado, Winnipeg. Yeah. You know, if they want to be in that top three, I um I called it little brother syndrome again stars. And again, this is not like a this is not a lack of effort type game. I it’s more of the lack of execution, I think. And just, you know, this this is a good example. This is a good example of like quality versus quantity of shots because the Wild generated tonight 4.74 expected goals and only got two on the power play. So Jakeer was standing on his head, but that’s the same as uh what Elvis Menkins did. The Wild just have not been able to consistently attack in five on five. Um which is something that is going to to need to be addressed. The power play success so far to start the season is fantastic. It’s awesome, but it’s not sustainable. Like it is not something that you can rely upon for a full season. Uh it’s it’s very encouraging, but the the five on five play has uh has got to get ironed out. Like just looking at where the shots came from here tonight, um 51 unblocked shot attempts for the Wild. 38 of those at low danger. They did have six medium danger attempts and seven high danger attempts. So, you know, the the percentage is actually better than I thought they would be, but it it just seemed like as the game wore on, there were uh there were more attempts from from further and further out. And that’s exactly what Dallas wants. It’s exactly what Dallas was trying to do was they were trying to get you outside. You you just you got to fight to the net. You got to fight to the net. And uh that that’s really the only way that you can crack a goalie like Jakeer uh in these types of games. Yeah, you I saw a tweet of yours, you know, net front pressure has been a struggle for years for years. Um and you you look at that’s where Bully got, you know, his goal is was battling out front. Um but there just wasn’t uh wasn’t enough of that. And uh you know, they they made it easy. um for for the foringer, you know, um he didn’t have to make a ton of big saves, you know, he didn’t he made the saves that he needed and u yeah, just uh you could you could tell I think Dallas was really rattled with Duchine getting knocked out of the game and uh yeah, you know, kind of took advantage of that and we’ll see if there’s any discipline for for Middleton, but uh it didn’t look too dirty. Um, you know, Dallas fans are going to say the opposite, but you know, it’s it’s tough when you lose one of your best players in a collision like that. Yeah. Now, I want to talk about this from Levi because I I was a little curious about this as well. Um, Jack Rosavik signing with the Edmonton Oilers. Um, from what Michael Russo said, the Wild were interested, but Rosik chose the Oilers because they offered more money. And I think they also offered him something that I don’t think the Wild would have offered, which was a top six opportunity. Like he he slotted in as a second line wing for the Oilers uh in uh in already. I don’t I don’t think that opportunity was here. Are you going to turn you to turn down playing with Dry Cidle and and uh McDavid? and they’ve been in the saw that you know he’s if you look at where Rosik has where he’s signed because he hasn’t he hasn’t been you know a place for very long you know he he hops from you know Stanley Cup contender to contender which at this point in his career you know um you know I I I get it from from an agent standpoint too and uh um you go where you can try to get a ring um so I get it you know would have been nice to have him he was a great player you know, good good college hockey player or two. And uh but there’s going to be other guys out there for sure. There’s, you know, there there’ll be teams that will be falling off. Hey, look, we know that the Wilder kind of just battling. Look at the Rangers. They haven’t scored a goal at home yet. Uh so that so there’s definitely worse uh worse situations out there. U but you know, I see the chat talking about Terasco a lot. Yeah, he’s got to figure that out, too. He can’t, you know, with with the amount of ice time he’s getting, he’s got to he’s got to start producing, not just, you know, just on on the power play there with assists. Yeah, he had um and again, these are these are arbitrary numbers, but I think with what he is being asked to do, um this is and this is the important one for him. He had one shot, one shot on goal. He was brought in to fix that. He was brought in to fix the second line scoring. You’re not going to do that with one shot. And so far in three games, uh he’s got the three assists. And it just it see you just need like let it rip. Let it rip, big guy. That’s that’s what we brought him in to do. Yeah. you know, it I don’t know if it’s, you know, if the shoulder injuries are catching up to him or it’s still, you know, figuring out chemistry, but it’s just so weird because um, you know, that he was the talk, him and Ogrren were like the talk of uh of training camp and how they were inner scrimmage, you know, they were just lighting things up and uh, you know, when the lights are on now here um, you know, that’s kind of kind of drying up and uh you know you know they took on you know they it’s not like he has any extra term it’s just his one year um but they’re going to have to have to search uh for for someone I think uh early here and they they have the money to to go out and uh and get somebody you know if you know if it continues to to be an issue. Yeah, they they have the money because, you know, we’re we are pushing hard for the uh the Tage Thompson route. That’s that’s Wild is all about that singular focus. Uh the Wild do have the ability to uh to bring him in provided they don’t get super injured. Um they they have the money to be able to pull in basically whoever they want. Now, I want to go to this from Jesse because I actually recorded an episode during the game that I will be posting once the postcast is done. So, you’ll wake up to an episode and then tomorrow we are debuting the uh first of our weekly power rankings that we’re going to do on the show here. Um, so that’s coming out tomorrow. Um, I I I’m just I’m just gonna say this. I would love to I would love to hear like a perspective of uh somebody in a coaching position from outside the organization as to what like what is the reason that Liam Ogrren just is not um being given an opportunity as of yet? because I there has got to be a reason that Johansson continues to be like the first parachute anytime there’s there’s issues with the the top six. There has to be a reason and it has to extend offensively. I you know it’s I mean it has to extend beyond simple zone entries that that is frankly irresponsible to go to somebody for one specific thing that they bring to the table and that having that be it like I I would rather if it’s just the zone entries you can just give somebody big the puck and they like muscle their way into the zone. own, right? Well, I’m I’m with Jesse and Hartman when he was been in an elevated role, you know, in the playoffs, he he performed very well and uh you know, he’s a guy that loves to fire the puck. You so, you know, I I wouldn’t mind seeing him, you know, being in an elevated role as long as he’s not taking penalties, you know, and so yeah, I would I’m I’m with Jesse. I think uh it’s worth a worth the shot for him to to be in that elevated role. Yeah, Hartman had five shots on goal tonight. And I know you want him to be the third line center, but I’m telling you, like, let’s just let’s just say this right now. Denilov, I don’t think’s coming out of the lineup. I I think he has done I think he’s done enough to show he’s capable of playing at the NHL level. Like, he is uh he the word I think that was used was responsible defensively. I would maybe go a little higher than that. So, I get wanting to have Ryan Hartman as your third line center, but as I say in the episode, I feel like second line scoring is a bigger problem than third line center. Yes, one one 100%. I mean, you look at I mean, look at Dallas, look at Colorado. they they don’t have those issues, you know, and I get they have more more superstar talent, but uh they they never have these these issues that the Wild can can, you know, continue to have. And the Wild aren’t aren’t in the cap, you know, hell anymore. So, that can’t be uh the excuse. Jason Robertson’s playing third line minutes for Dallas, right? It’s it’s mindboggling. Sam Steel, that Sam Steel is on their top line. Yeah. The one that we were like, “No, there’s no way you can play him above a fourthline role.” It’s like Dallas is like, “Ah, agree to disagree, right?” Yeah. It’s just, you know, the guy that got, you know, Radic Fox has been in the league forever and he’s always been a wild killer and of course gets gets the empty neter. They just Yeah, they have depth uh everywhere and they figured out, hey, yeah, Matt Dumbo was not not the answer on the back end. they shipped him out out of there and uh yeah, it’s they their decor looks looks great as well. And and you know, you you can’t even I can’t even necessarily point to um again like let’s circle back to the netfront stuff. Yeah, Zach Begoian probably has 60 pounds on Sam Steel. I’m I’m maybe slightly exaggerating, but that that was that was the reason that that power play goal was scored from the outside is because Begoian was in the fight of his life against Sam Steel in front of the net. What’s more shocking, Steel being a first round pick or uh Begoan was a top three pick. He was original Atlanta Thrasher. Um, yeah, it’s uh it’s it’s crazy how his career has has evolved, but but Gojan, there’s no way um he should be letting a smaller player like Steel get get position over him. Yeah, but as I as I tweeted out, that’s been an issue for years, right? Second line scoring’s been an issue for years. Uh up and down the faceoffs on the penalty kill have been an issue for years. Like the these are not new problems. It just continues to be the same solutions tried to fix the problems. And this is what we this is what we have talked about with you know the growing pains is you’re gonna get to the point where it’s like either you are just willing to you’re just willing to kind of cut yourself short at the at the expense of oh can’t have can’t have the young player mistakes. Hey how we we how did Zeve boy look tonight? Like phenomenal. They they let him they let him play free. Feels like he’s starting feels like he’s starting to figure it out. Um would you rather have him in the lineup right now or would you rather have Johnny Merrill in the lineup? Oh gosh. There’s a reason why he’s not even in the league. Yeah. Like the these are these are the things is and and this is not a wild specific problem. There were like six first round picks that made the roster in the NHL this year that sat in the for the first game of the year. So, it’s not it’s not a wild specific problem, but the thing that you have to kind of get past is yeah, there are going to be mistakes, but if you just are willing to if you’re just willing to allow players to learn and grow and develop, you put yourself in position where you’re probably going to get better results from those spots. Yeah. Well, you know, I keep seeing your check uh um uh in the chat here. The problem with sending him into the AHL, Iowa’s horrible. They’re horrible again. They they are getting just lit up. And does that do him any good? I I don’t I think that that could make things worse for him. You saw what you know what it did with for Yesper and his mental health and it just was was not good. I I don’t I feel bad for Hunter Hate, too, because he’s going back down into a mess. I I don’t know why they, you know, why they can’t can’t figure it out down there. But that does not do any, you know, the Wild can have the best prospect group, you know, you know, till till the cow goes home and uh you know, it doesn’t mean anything if they can’t get these guys up and and uh be able to to get, you know, some playing time in the NHL. you know, the AHL, it’s it’s just a just a mess for them. Yeah. And and I don’t like I don’t know what the right answer is because the we point to like we’ll just pull Bean out of the lineup. Um do you get the sense that John Hines is going to do that? Like do you get the sense that that’s even on the table? No. No. I mean Hines is gonna going to play the veteran guys. He’s he’s done that. I mean, we’ve talked about in previous episodes. He, you know, he’s uh, you know, looks like he just there’s a disconnect sometimes with some of these younger younger players and he just falls on well, you know, Marcus Johansson’s been in this league for for a decade and, you know, same thing with Begoian, so we’ll go um, you know, with the guys that have been around for for a long time. So, it uh you know that you know you know I’ve said it in in episodes in the past too. I mean Hines has not won a playoff series in his coaching career as a head coach. Uh you know that that says a lot. At some point you think you’d fall into a uh you know a playoff series win, but he has yet to do that. So you know this is a huge huge year for him to to try to get you know something figured out. I Yeah, I just, you know, I’ll I’ll preach it’s early to a point. Um, and I I got frustrated with how the game played out tonight, yet the Wild still they still got it to within one. Um, how about that? How about the the um Ainger interview? Oh man, that was that was that was something else. Yeah, I tell you what, people say Pete Dbor is just sitting out there. I want no part of him coaching this team. Yeah, after hearing that uh No. Yeah, if if they go to someone else, yeah, that’s fine. But, you know, yeah, it’s uh that I think that sent the message to everybody else around the league that was uh that was watching for that. Yeah, it’s that that was that was pretty eye opening and extremely yikes. Um I I’ll be shocked. I’ll be shocked if uh I’ll be shocked if he gets another um something that we you know with this condensed schedule too. It’s I mean the amount of backtobacks and uh with with travel it it’s going to be it’s going to be chaos here. And you know I felt bad for Gus because it you know at the beginning of this game it uh you know it just seemed like they were completely out of it. They found their legs later. Um but uh yeah, it’s it’s going to be crazy here and you know, we hope there’s no no injuries at all at the Olympics. You know, looks like the Wild are going to have a quite a few guys there. So, you know, hopefully because we saw Shay Theodore got got hurt at four nations and so this the Wild cannot, you know, as a team that’s notorious with with finding injuries, they just cannot afford to have any single, you know, any other injury. Um, and you know, we hope hopefully we see Zukarelloo and in uh in November at some point. Yeah, from what Emily Kaplan was saying, it’ll be maybe four weeks before Zukarella returns. Um, which I feel like is generous. It’s crazy. I mean, the fact that they’re happening off ice, too, that just is like what what is going on here? Yeah. Um, well, great. And yeah, uh, uh, Strange in the chat puts two back to backs this week and you get Ovetchkin on Friday. So that that you know I mean Washington looks looks awesome. So that that’s gonna be tough. And Philly you know now they have they hired Rick Tocket. We we’ll see they uh you know they have you know Trevor Zeus got got moved over there and Mitchkov. Uh so yeah it’s going to be an interesting weekend. Yeah it’s uh I I just I just would like to I just like to talk to the schedule people. Um, again, I don’t Are they using Are they using chat GPT or AI and Oh my goodness. I I keep seeing stuff on AI like in Grock just making stuff up. It’s It’s just crazy. Yeah. Um, if it were me, and maybe this is just me being a complainer, but I would never put a divisional opponent in a backtoback ever. No, that makes no sense. It’s I would never do it. the Wild. I mean, it happened last year, too. They just get their butts kicked coming coming down there after the first game. And you knew you knew they were going to be exhausted. Yeah. With the overtime and and shootout and Yeah, it was just they exerted so much energy in that in that Kings game and Kings are, you know, such a heavy team. Um, we’ve got some comments from Jake Middleton on the Duchine hit that we’ll get to. Um, but I I would just save backtobacks for strictly non-divisional opponents. You’re going on the West Coast, sure, start that off with a backtoback. Um, because I I saw I saw mentioned on X like, does the league just assume that it’s like an hour flight or like, oh, it’s a 60-minute flight like cool, awesome. No, that’s not the case. Yeah, Sean Sean put in the chat they got to their whole hotel room at 3:00 a.m. Like that’s just so that’s just so stupid. And you know and you know those guys are not not sleeping after a game either. You know they’re they’re up because you know they’re just juiced from from playing and uh yeah there’s no way they they got more than five or six hours of sleep and then you’re just running on adrenaline. It’s just so stupid. If you’re going to do if you’re going to do a backtoback, you do it when you go to the West Coast, you travel the day before and then you do a backtoback East Coast, do the same thing. But sticking a Central Division opponent in a backtoback and just being like, “Oh, shoot. The other team that you’re playing had three full days off before the game.” Like, get out of here with that nonsense. Right. Right. Yeah. It makes makes no sense. You know, they do. I know Matthew put in the chat, too. I’m tired of them playing like crap against Dallas. Yeah, they have to they have to figure that out. You know, they they want to finish in the top three. They gonna have to beat Colorado, gonna have to beat Dallas. I know Winnipeg is down a little bit, but uh they still have the best goalie in in hockey. So, yeah, it’s uh it’s crazy with these backtobacks. And uh here’s a good this is a this is a great compromise. geographical restrictions. That’s a great compromise. Good good uh good nugget there for sure. Um yeah, let’s let’s break let’s break. We’ve still got plenty more to get to. It’s late. 5-2 loss for the Minnesota Wild at the hands of Big Brother, the Stars. They took everything from us and they still get to keep their hockey team, too. Um, we’ll we’ll talk about the penalty kill a little bit and plenty of other things as we continue today’s postcast right here on Locked on Wild. I think it’s It sounded like like 15,000 or something like that. But yeah, whatever whatever odds, you know, that’s um you know, he’s he’s starting off hot. Um, let’s get to some questions here. We got some good ones. Uh, from Levi. How did the Wild not make a move for a top six forward this summer? Well, they tried. They tried and then it was Terasenko. You know, I know they didn’t sign him, but they traded for him. But, uh, but the other part of it, too, is that a large contingent of what was going to be out on the free agent market elected to resign. The only guys that moved were Mitch Mner. Yeah, you weren’t. The Wild weren’t getting Mitch Mar. No. And Nikolai Eers, right? And he got overpaid in Carolina. They He seemed He seemed like he wanted to go to Carolina. Yeah. So then this is where like this is where the this is where the trade situation comes in and the Wild now finally have the flexibility to make a move. But as we were told throughout the off season, a lot of GMs just were not willing to make moves. They kind of wanted to see where they fit in. And so there just wasn’t a ton in the way of trades that happened throughout the season. But now you’re into the season and you are going to now have the opportunity to try to take advantage of somebody off to a bad start. The teams that are off to bad starts right now include the Calgary Flames, include the New York Islanders, include the Buffalo Sabres. The Calgary Flames have the only win amongst those three. Um, it’s take your pick. I mean, I I feel like the Sabres have more to offer, but here’s Hey, there’s a guy there’s a guy out there. I know he’s older. Uh, it’s weird because he’s basically the same age as me, but uh, Nazam Kadri, I I just think he could solve a lot of issues in in the top six. He’s great on the power play. He’s got some snarl. He seems like the type of Bill Garren guy, you know, to get under under skin. Uh, I that’s that’s I’d be calling Calgary if if uh um if he becomes available at all. Yeah. And I like I’m not looking for like get somebody for just this season. Yeah. Like if you’re going to meaningfully impact if you’re gonna meaningfully impact the second line, you can’t bandaid it. And for the for those that are saying, “Well, just leave those spots open for um the the younger guys.” Well, they aren’t going to play them. You can’t What’s the point in leaving them open if they’re not going to play them, you know? But you’re going to have a spot next year when Matt Sigurelloo likely retires. You’re going to have a spot available there. Um, early returns on Vladimir Turoseno. Keyword early, but early returns on Vladimir Terosenko. Casper the friendly ghost. Not great. Not uh not ideal. What’s What’s uh what’s the future considerations going to be to Detroit? So, you’re you are like you you’re going to have places for those guys to fit in. And I’m I’m at the point where I’m like, you have to monitor what is going on in Buffalo because Tae Thompson’s already been vocal like this has got to get fixed. Crazy how vocal he’s been. But, I mean, I I get it. It’s uh he’s in the same He’s in the same spot that Eik was in. He’s in the same spot that every player before him has been in. Mhm. So, I can’t fault him whatsoever because, you know, you sign for you you sign with a team and you become like the the centerpiece of that team. The expectation is that they’re going to do what it takes to put a competitive team together. And um I just I don’t know. It doesn’t seem like Buffalo has uh has done that. Now, they’re a very young team. Mhm. So, this is where I’m kind of of the belief that Buffalo could benefit from some veteran type players. The Wilds seem to have a glut of those. So, you’re not going to make a trade. The earliest that Bill Garren has made trades in the past is in like November. So, you’re not going to make a trade right now. It’s it’s still it’s infinitely it’s it’s infinitely too early to uh be looking at this. But again, I will say if there is a time that Tage Thompson or a player like that becomes available, you have got to get into the conversation. Yeah. Um, Ezekiel makes a good point in the chat, too. Uh, you know, I think, you know, if you’re gonna make that move for Thompson, they’re going to want Ogrren. No doubt about it. So, you know, it’s it’d be tough to see him go, but that that’s who they’re going to be looking for in in any type of of move there for for a guy like uh like Thompson. And you the Wild do have a first round pick that they can give up. So, it’s not like they’re they are worried about draft picks now. So, yeah, would would definitely be asked about for sure. And the question you have to ask yourself is who helps you win now more, right? Thompson. Yeah, Tage Thompson does. Tage Thompson making like $7.8 million per year helps you infinitely more than those prospects do. And that’s why I keep going back to the quote of like when you are in your window to contend, everything that you have at your disposal has to go towards winning right now. Like if you say, “Okay, our our window is open. You got to you you got to go full boore. You no uh no half measures.” Mike Trout from Breaking Bad. No more half measures. Craig Leupold is sick of just getting to the first round. He wants he wants that extra money for the second round, you know, third, you know, conference Stanley Cup. We we you and I talk about it all the time. Can you imagine seven, you know, uh just uh just going bananas for later playoff rounds or or cup run? It would just be nice. It would be so nice. I mean, I don’t other than other than the Canadian teams, I I don’t I don’t think anywhere else would be crazier if they could get get that far again in in the playoffs. Um, so like you you just you have to monitor it at this point. You you exhaust your options as far as filling those spots. Let’s bang the drum again for Ryan Hartman to be one of the next that gets that opportunity. I think he certainly has earned it. Yep. Um, I know that kind of leaves you in a little bit of a predicament in uh as far as the the bottom of the lineup centers go, but you you figure it out. They figure it out. You can they can figure out. They have enough enough players, you know, they signed a couple guys in in Iowa, veterans that that can help out uh, you know, if need be, too. And and and, you know, get them in. Uh, you know, and yeah, we’ll we’ll see. Uh, as far as what else I wanted to uh to get to here tonight, um, the Chiefs and the Eagles didn’t win a Super Bowl for 50 years until they did. Why not? The Cubs broke their curse. The Red Sox broke their curse. Let’s let’s do it. The Boston Red Sox said, “We don’t want Babe Ruth. We don’t want Babe Ruth.” And uh, they paid for that for over a century. Yeah, I think Paneran’s the Jesse put in the chat. Is Paneran on the table or is that a rumor? Well, he has the same agent as Capri off. So, anytime, you know, you have Theopanos, you know, he’s gonna, you know, try to, you know, you know, you know, maybe put that together at some point. Uh, we we’ll see. Yeah. And I I wouldn’t be I wouldn’t be opposed to Paneran, but I would look at him as more of a this year type addition. I don’t know if I would want to go unless he plays unless he plays exceptionally well. I don’t really want to go beyond this year for a player like that. Well, I think I don’t I don’t think he would resign here, you know. I think Theopanos has got something. He’ll you know, and those Russians love being on the coast. So, he’s like, I got 17 for Capri off. I’m gonna get 19 for right and the Anaheim Ducks are like thank god we can finally get to the cap floor or Tammy, do you want to go play in Anaheim and not worry don’t have any media pressure and get get 20 a year or LA or Tampa Bay? Yeah, I mean they they love uh being in in the big cities. Um Dom Lashusen of the Athletic puts together game scores after every game. Um, Zeve Boyham had the highest game score of any Wild player tonight and that included offense and defense. He’s a teenager. Teenager. Carill and Matt Baldy were second and third. Guess who is fourth? Oh boy. Um I Gosh. Uh oh. Is it is it 90? No. Oh, thank goodness. Oh, he was fourth to last. Okay. I was going to say I thought it was just I thought you were trying to trick me. Oh man. Um Zach Begoian. Wow. Okay. Well, that’s that’s where an analytics are just, you know, who knows? I I Yeah. I don’t Analytics I feel like sometimes are jazz hands. Like, yeah. Hey, look at what I’m doing right here. Don’t pay attention to what else is going on. Was Grock Was Grock doing the analytics tonight for for Dom? I I don’t know. Could have been. Yeah. Um Yeah. pay attention to the to the top three on the list and don’t bother with any of the others. Yeah, it’s crazy. You know, Urban put in the chat again, Robertson’s overrated. Well, I don’t know why they have him on the third line, you know, if they’re trying to resign the guy. I don’t that uh that’s not gonna he’s not going to want want that if he continues to be on the third line. Gullixson. Gullixson. I loved when they showed on I loved when they showed on the screen like, “Hey, Gullixson was the coach for two previous seasons with Dallas and then they had the little asterisk on the side that said did not make the playoffs either year.” That’s that’s that’s a problem. These owners, I mean, if they they don’t get the playoff gate, they I can see how enraged uh they would be. Speaking of uh speaking of Robertson, um and how about this? All All I see, and I know you and I joke about it, but all the time on Twitter, I see it. All they’re talking about is his brother and not getting an opportunity in Toronto. It’s like, this guy gets talked about more than his his better brother, and I don’t I don’t even think he’s that great. Yeah. It’s like they’ve they’ve tried to trade him for for a couple years now in in Toronto and it’s uh no one no one wants them. Yeah. It’s it’s crazy. Who knows? Um well, I think since it’s 12:24 and I still have an episode to post tonight and also this to uh this to recap, I think we will call it for this postcast. Uh we’re going to do one on Friday, but then not Saturday. Um we’re going to do one Friday, not Saturday, but then we’ll do one on Monday, too. Um so again, just trying to keep everybody as up to date as I can on the schedule with it being MEA. Um no high school football game for me on Friday night. So we’ll uh we’ll see how things go with the Capitals. The Wild typically play well against the Eastern Conference. Um, so we’ll uh we’ll see if they get back into the wind column, but um that’s that’s going to wrap it. So, uh, smash that like button on your way out and uh we’ve got an overnight episode coming up for you here tonight as well. And then power rankings tomorrow. So stay tuned. Make sure to like Locked on Wild. And as always, stay frosty. We’ve got you covered each and every day of the week right here on the Lockdown Podcast Network. Your team every day.

  1. Five on five only gets better with better players. We don't have a bottom 6 that's a fact get used to it. how can you expect anything better then last year with the same line up .

  2. If you can't win a face off you can't win the zone. Start looking at the small wins in the game wild don't win them there is a bigger pitcher on the situation. That's a show you can do. First round exit as usual young prospects don't do anything then free up cap. Get rid of the buy out roster trade trade trade

  3. I wanna add something, knowing how old school guerin is, i am as well. I want the kids up the line up but they have to take it, guerin makes kids especially earn it so they dont get that entitlement feeling. Now with that said jiricek deserves to play.

  4. This is the boldy i knew he could become, thi s is why i was so hard on him especially 2 seasons ago n 1st half of last yr. That kid can be a superstar power forward.

  5. I enjoy when Alex is on the show. Good stuff

Idk about you all but I hate the national ESPN games. Announcers are bad, 8:50pm start time for fans.

  6. It’s Wild how little Bill G gets talked about. He has made countless bad moves and the fans only blame the coaches and the players. Astonishing

  7. Playmaking was okay. Two shots on the iron and many fanned shots indicated our players were still adjusting to the regular season pace in front of the goal. Could easily have gone either way.

  8. I went to bed after the 1st after watching that nonsensical piece during the intermission on Ottenger. My gawd, what a whiny cry-baby, and why is it so difficult for Dumba to speak? Clear your GD throat and f'ing speak up a bit………
As far as the game goes……..
    Fire Hynes
    Fire Billy
Move the team to Fort Worth TX
    We need a 1C
    Change the lines
    Play the kids
    Iowa development sucks
(Am I doing this right?!? 🤣)

  9. I couldn’t agree more, it’s like our big brother picking on the kid brother. Ottinger, 8-0-3 now tells you all you need to know as Dallas controls the Wild. Until the Wild get secondary scoring, they are living on the edge. Four games into a marathon is too early – agreed, but this roster needs some tweaking. I do like Hynes switching the lines up midstream – just need some 5 on 5 scoring, as it’s either 12/97/23/38 or nothing right now. FYI, the Wild are getting screwed with their schedule. I think Vegas has 7 back to backs, the Wild have 14 due to the World Jr.’s but still a shit show schedule.
