SUNS DON’T TRUST MARK WILLIAMS YET?! HERE’S WHY ☀️💰🌵
All right, Suns Nation, check this out. The Phoenix Suns don’t seem too eager to open the wallet for new center Mark Williams just yet. Reports say the team wants him to prove himself before talking about any contract extension. Mark came over from the Charlotte Hornets and yeah, when he’s healthy, the guy can really play. But that’s the thing, when he’s healthy, he’s only played 106 games in three seasons. That’s like buying a great car that keeps ending up in the repair shop. Reporter John Gambodoro explained that the Suns want to see a full season from Williams before committing long-term. Makes sense, right? He’s on the final year of his rookie deal. So, if he plays great, Phoenix might have to pay him more next summer. But if not, they can just move on. Head coach Jordan Aut said Williams is finally back to live practice and is on track for opening night against the Sacramento Kings on October 22nd. Good sign. But if health issues return, the Suns have options. Nick Richards and rookie Kaman Malawak, who’s been turning heads in preeason. So here’s the deal. Mark Williams has to prove he can stay healthy and dominate in the paint. If he does, the Suns will have to pay up. But if not, there are players ready to step in and take that spot. What do you think, Suns Nation? Should Phoenix give Mark Williams an extension now or wait and see how he performs this season?
