My opinion on all this (not that it matters lol) is that I love hockey, Piper Shaw, and hockey romance books. I’m team Piper here because I agree that it super “icky” when a hockey romance turns into a “workplace romance” full HR violations. Piper Shaw has worked hard to get where she is so I understand why she’d be offended by a book that has the talented female hockey reporter sleeping with a guy on the team.
Am I gonna stop being a fan of Piper because of how upset she is about this? Hell no. Am I going to stop reading all hockey romance now? Also no. But oh my god I wish we would stop being a part of BookTok scandals lol. 🤦🏼♀️

The only reason we are part of booktok scandals is because the people involved are adults who have zero concepts of boundaries and what is appropriate, they act like teenagers who have never been told no before. They act like frat boy culture for a book club.
I can’t stand that the kraken has the booktok crowd to be frank, even if there are plenty of normal booktok fans there are also a large amount who have serious issues. seeing the sexual harassment and death threats the Wennbergs received was absolutely insane. Seeing the response booktok is having to piper being uncomfortable with this situation is insane. The claim that “no one knows who piper is and she should be thankful to the author for exposure” and “piper is a common name” to downplay and insult piper is disgusting. A large portion of the booktok community is disgusting bullies who harass anyone who stands up to them, while pushing their boundaries.
