If it’s not clear yet, the coach of the year is Mike Vrabel to this point. I don’t think i can say enough about the type of leader he is to this group of guys. Doesn’t matter if players are being flipped from belichick or mayo’s regimes, he’s taken the best of all of those squads and has made a coherent unit in less than a year. That’s not easy! Go pats!

  1. I think we all would have been shocked if you told us a year ago that we would 5-2 and first in the AFC east!  Love the crowd chanting Vrabel’s name!

  2. Its crazy how many people here did not want Vrabel.

We look like a brand-new team in one season, and while guys like Maye making the leap are a huge part…the culture feels like its changed, and that starts at the top.

  3. If I told this sub before the year started that we’d be 5-2 by week 7 i would have been laughed out of here.

  4. I give more credit to McDaniels at this point. Drake Maye and the offense have been consistently carrying this team week to week.

  5. When you have a QB as talented and playing as well as Drake Maye, the head coach has one very important job; just make sure the rest of the team doesn’t fuck up. Keep the disciplined, keep them prepared, and make sure they keep Drake Maye in the game.

Vrabel and the rest of the coaches are clearly doing that to great effect right now.

  6. I think he needs the Colts to slow down to win it.

Vrabel deserves it, but the Daniel Jones reclamation is a story that will resonate for CotY voters.

  7. The only other winner I would accept is Steichen with indy, they are playing their asses off but even pats bias aside I think Vrabel deserves it, this team is BOUGHT IN, I love seeing every shot of whenever Vrabel is talking everybody is locked in, especially Diggs, that dude is fucking ride or die and honestly when they signed Vrabel I was kinda not sold and hoped for the Ben Johnson type but I am so happy to admit I was dead fucking wrong, I know the players wins the games and what not but the teams massive turn around is first and foremost thanks to big Mike

  8. Easy there Tiger. The Titans just fired their HC after 6 games.  They are a terrible team with a rookie QB. Have you looked at our strength of schedule? Props to the team and coach about Buffalo. But we’ve got a long way to go.

  9. It’s hilarious if you look in the Titans sub there’s a ton of people posting that Rabel was terrible coach and the Titans getting rid of him was absolutely the right move.

  10. We’re almost halfway through the season (WTF?!!) and he’s got to be a leading contender. We were one game away from having the top pick in the draft to leading the division in less than a year. Lots of games to play, so past results do not guarantee future success, but it’s been amazing so far.

  11. Honestly, it’s nice to be excited to watch football again. The past few years…oof. They were rough. I mean, everyone knew the dynasty wouldn’t last forever, but holy shit it felt like such a steep drop off. I think Vrabel was the right choice. I know people were hesitant and wanted Ben Johnson, but after last year’s fiasco with Mayo, it was too risky going with another coach who had no head coach experience. At the very least, Vrabel was solid. I can’t remember where I read it, but someone pointed out that he would be a great middle ground between Belichick and Mayo: not a complete hardass and unable to connect with the younger players like Belichick (got to remember a lot of the players are young millennials and gen z, totally different generations), but not a total pushover who wanted to be pals with everyone like Mayo. And it seems that Vrabel has managed to balance that. It’s early and the Pats have had the good fortune of playing some not so great teams, but last year at least 3 of those wins would have been losses.

  12. Honestly I’m just so thankful we were smart enough to only give Mayo one year. The vibes from that team were putrid and now we’re smelling daisies.

  13. Excuse me, but many posters told me Vrabel was a bad coach on game threads in the first few weeks. Are you telling me they might be wrong? But they were so certain!

  14. Long way to go but as a former Vrabel hater U agree so far. Guy has been a revelation.

  15. Nah. Colts coach in the running. Patriots only got 1 win against a team above .500 this year so far.

  16. I feel bad for Jerrod Mayo. He just wasn’t ready yet. I feel very lucky to have Vrabel back.

  17. They should be undefeated. But let’s pump the brakes a little here. Buffalo is the only legit team they have played.
