Al and Vladdy got in trouble for too many pranks!? | HOME ICE, presented by Canada Life
The big one was the blow up pig. We take up legit the whole hallway and we’d blow it up each inflatable thing. Yeah. And then we got in trouble for it because it was a fire hazard. So we had to take everything down. That was the best one for sure. [Music] Well guys, we are here getting ready for the Winnipeg Jets Golf Classic. So I need to know there are many golfers on this team and I feel it’s the biggest cliche with hockey players. Everyone, what’s your favorite sport besides hockey? Oh, it’s golf. Are you two golfers? Nope. No, not at all. But I do like golf. I can’t say I don’t like it. I do enjoy going out there, but I have to play with someone who’s not good because it’s hard to play with, you know, guys that It’s nerve-wracking. It isn’t. Yeah. You get nervous and it’s just no fun if they’re much that much better than you. Both of you signed extensions last season to stay in Winnipeg and I think you both felt connections maybe to the city for different reasons. I know that you had mentioned one point that you were not likely to be getting up early to go fishing with Alex. He gets up 5 in the morning and he invited me a couple of times but I’m not waking up at 5 in the morning to go ice fishing. So, what do you think it would take though for him to be able to convince you? I mean, I said I’d go with uh with Al to a fishing trip or camping trip, and he promised to take me. So, hey, I know you might have converted him. We’re going to get him. We’ll see. It hasn’t happened yet, but we’ll see. [Applause] With this group, we feel that we hear about some pranksters that exist within the group. We’ve Oh, okay. Maybe you want to name who some pranksters might be out. Anyone? No. Oh, maybe there’s a lot. There’s a lot. Yeah, there’s a lot of guys. Well, I was going to say we often see stuff with Nino. Hayden Flurry has been known to unscrew the caps of some water bottles and various things. Would you describe yourselves as pranksters? I’d say yeah, we’d be up there. Yeah. We’re not going to reveal what we do. Yeah. But sure, you’ll catch on. You’ll see. Yeah. Now, I heard that you two also would do pranks on each other, if that’s what could call it. You two previously lived in the same building and actually on the same floor. And I heard stories about how you two took to decorating each other’s doors. Can you exp Yeah. Can you explain what you two would do? Well, I think it started with you. Yeah. I think it was it was Halloween and I just decided to get a bunch of like scary stickers and like sparkly things and just hang them up up in his door and it was just a little bit and then the next next day I come home and my door is fully like wallpapered with Halloween stuff and then like as you know months go by we kind of did it for each holiday and it was kind of just you know fun. Yeah, it’d be funny just coming back from a game and then there’d be something new. There’d be like a stat like a weird statue and then like a big Santa Claus sitting like the big one was the blow up pig. It would take up legit the whole hallway and we’d blow it up each inflatable thing. Yeah. Then we got in trouble for it cuz it was a fire hazard. We were legit next door. So like you would hear when you leave. So I’d be like kind of spying and then I’d go and do it tape. You hear like the tape on the door. Alex, when you think of Vlad, what are the first words that come to mind? Funny and and chill at the same time. Just, you know, every time we hang out, it’s it’s always a blast. And, you know, especially on the ice, too. He he takes charge on the ice and, you know, does everything the right way. Vlad, if Alex hadn’t made a career out of playing hockey, what do you think he’d be doing? Pro surfer or pro hunter, whatever. I don’t know about that. I mean, you’re outdoorsy. He’s good at everything pretty much. He knows ins and outs how to build things. Like, it’s just handyman. He can be anything. He’s the go-to on the floor. Probably if if you have issues, call Alex. Callie sent down low scores. [Applause] this team. Last year, everyone talked about how close you guys were, the benefit that that was, both obviously with creating chemistry on the ice and off. How do you think that can help you guys this year as you try to build on the success that you saw last season? You know, all the ups and downs of the season, you know, knowing each other so well, we can read off each other in certain situations and and take it from there. Yeah, we got a couple new guys. We got to meet them. seem like great guys. So, I think that’s uh it’s going to help the locker room as well and go from there. Really appreciate the time. Thank you. [Music]
