Genuinely what could the issue be with him right now? I refuse to believe his rookie year was a “fluke” like some of my coworkers have been bugging me about… Does anyone actually have some valid theories as to why it seems he has regressed so much? I hate to be the guy, but the dude obviously played way better with Mac Jones than he has with TLaw both last season and this season…

  1. Idk how accurate this is but I saw somebody saw something about one of his old college teammates killing themselfs i don’t remember his name

  2. He has tons of gifts as a player, I think it’s going to come down to his ability to beat the psychological part of the battle when it comes to making some of those catches

I think he can likely make a return to form

People forget he was supposed to be a high upside work in progress as a receiver when we we drafted him and he just happened to heavily outperform expectations as a rookie

  3. I’m not. He’s been playing better, but at some point, the coaching staff needs to understand that going across the middle will always be a weak part of his game until he works on it, so stop doing it. Use him to stretch the field both vertically and horizontally and let someone else eat in the middle.

  4. Trade his ass. Let him find a better place where he’s happy.

If someone gives us a 2nd rounder, move him.

He’s toast for us. It’s obvious he doesn’t want to be here. Let him go and get players that have passion for the Duval Mission.

  5. I think he needs to be used as a #2 deep threat instead of a #1 X. Too much pressure is getting to him

  6. He was a WR2 at LSU let him be one for the jags.
Travis can be WR1 his ball tracking skills are insane. When teams get hip to Travis and put doubles on him then put btj on the go where he thrives 1on1

  7. The best Xs run the boundary and deep routes that BTJ seems to want to run.

But also the best Xs absolutely dominate at the catch point on those routes and catch with their hands, not their arms/body. BTJ for now is not capable of that.

Until dude gets over his fear of going over the middle or underneath routes, and until he learns to attack the ball with his hands, he doesn’t deserve to only get those routes that guys line Evans, Hopkins, Jones, megatron, etc (sticking to the recent modern age/recent greats) get.

Jamar Chase, Ceedee Lamb, and Justin Jefferson all are willing to go over the middle and/or underneath. Tee Higgins is willing to do that and is much more “X” like that BTJ at this point in his career with his lack of contested catch ability.

Hopefully he can get there because he has the traits to be special…but he ain’t there yet.

  8. Anyone calling to trade him, particularly for things like a 2nd rounder is certified insane.

  9. “The dude played way better with Mac Jones”

Where are you getting this from? In 2024 with Jones, BTJ had 687yds, 5TDs, and 64% catch. With Lawrence, he had 595 yards, 5TDs, and 67% catch.

So he had slightly more yards, slightly worse catch rate, and identical TDs under Jones.

  10. I think our wr room needs a solid vet in the room. It’s purely mental with him ranging from concentration drops, alligator arms over the middle, and just flat out wanting to be a dawg.

He’s only in year 2 and two huge offensive leaders, Engram and Kirk, leave and he’s looked at to be the guy, plus the lose of Kyren which I think weighs on him too. Also, some guys just shine better as 2s 🤷🏾‍♂️ Too early to say that’s BT but I’m still bullish on him long term.

I also don’t think us shitting on the guy helps either, especially if it is mental hurdles (even tho he’s been frustrating affff)

  11. Overhyped receiver for an overhyped QB. Match made in heaven.

Travis Hunter is the future. Get him a real quarterback.

  12. I’m very critical of Tlaw but in this case it’s not the QBs fault. BTJ is never going to be an elite, top 10 WR like he was last year. I do believe he will have a productive career but true #1 guys don’t go through drop stretches this bad. Great outside and deep guy but I don’t see him waking up and becoming a JJ or Jamar Chase type receiver. Zero explosiveness off the line. Hope he turns it around and becomes our Devonta Smith to a true #1 guy at some point.

  13. Not as concerned about him as I am about Trevor.

Extending him out defenseless over clogged lane crossing routes is not the best use of him. But since Trevor cannot throw the long ball with anticipation and accuracy, that is all they can think to do with him.

  14. I think BTJ has shown you who he is, elite separator and perimeter man beater. Outside of that, cant go across the field, does not make contested catches, cannot be gone to when the game is on the line.

  15. He was never a good hands catcher and is now being asked to go over the middle. Not last year either. He has to develop that part of his game.

Up to the coaches to get him catching how he needs to or figure something else out. In his successful games he’s on the sidelines. I hate to say this but so far this year he feels like Calvin Ridley.

  16. Gifted athlete with absolute stone for hands. Even his catches look like he was lucky to bring it in. Idk what’s wrong with him, but he should only be getting 1 or 2 deep shots a game. Maybe an end around.

  17. Idk but when I saw him in that one video pull his hair back to blow out a candle before he left his house I knew we were cooked. I can’t explain why.

  18. He is not physical enough. Can’t take a hit. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him shake a tackle tbh. He tends to do this weird folding collapse move any time he catches the ball. Whatever possessed Quentin Johnston to be good hopefully takes hold of him soon.

  19. I just want them to do what Gladstone always says they’re going to do with the players, let him “be nothing more than himself.” He’s not an over the middle guy, clearly. Use him for what he does best and has had the most success at. Stop trying to force him to be a different player than he is

  20. He gave up after the Jags were down 20 going into the 4th…some QB’s you can win a game like Bo nix just did with Denver. But Trevor? Nope nope nope
