Jeremiah Fears | Pelicans-Rockets Postgame | 2025 NBA Preseason
First of all, happy birthday. Thank you. Would have been a nice present there at the end, but what did you think of your your fourth quarter and and being even even being able in a position to to to get that shot with the game on the line? Uh, I mean, pretty good fourth quarter. I think the main thing for me was just going out there competing to say 00 on the clock. So, going out there giving it everything I had until the buzzer rang. So, I mean, being able to take that shot was super dope as well, especially on my birthday. And being able to take the NBA floor for the first time was super dope as well. What is what what’s been the biggest thing you’ve learned just in these three games? Obviously, we we we had the two games against the Australian teams, but now, you know, going up against a starting NBA group like in a team like the Houston Rockets, what did you learn today? Um, really just the style of play. Uh, I mean, watching and being on the floor is some things I can take from the game. So, continuing to learn, uh, like I was saying before the season, just continue to learn, uh, game by game and take everything game by game. I mean, if you look from the first preseason game to now, I feel like I’ve done a great job. Just continue to get better every single game. And in that fourth quarter, we kind of got to see you in operating the way you’re used to, kind of running the offense, running the show. Uh, but when you’re kind of a part of those bench units, playing with some of the main guys. What’s kind of the key for you uh finding your spots and m finding ways to make an impact? Uh, continue to do what I do. Uh, helping the team in any way possible. And, uh, sometimes we might have a stretch where we not playing the greatest. So being at point guard position, you got to kind of talk to the team and tell them like we haven’t had a really good stretch these last three minutes. So let’s try to get execute some plays and get some good shots and just continuing to be the the coach on the floor. And uh I know you you’ve been playing a lot with Jose on that second unit. He’s been cheering you on from the bench. What’s that relationship been like with y’all two as the two bench point guards and him being more of a veteran guy? Man, it’s been dope. Uh Jose’s been helping me along the way. uh continuing to be that support like you was saying and somebody that you can ask questions, you can learn from and he’s always willing to speak up no matter the situation or no matter what’s going on. And I mean that’s something that you can learn from him, especially being my first year in the league. So just continue to ask him questions, continue to learn from him and continue to uh watch him and evaluate him as well. Like said, I know you wanted to hit that shot at the end, but it looked like right after it it went off, Tyreek E ran on the floor and immediately grabbed you and had something to say to you. How much does it mean just having veteran guys from other teams come up to you and kind of show you your respect in that way? Man, it means the world to me. Um, been watching the NBA for a long time. So, finally being able to step out here and show everybody what I’m capable of and like you said, soon as the buzzer went off, he was able to step on the floor and give me some words of encouragement and just continuing to he told me he was going to be supporting me from the other side. So, I mean, it means the world to me and just continuing to keep learning and guys like that when they do stuff like that, it shows that they really care and how much the NBA is a brotherhood as well.
